Our panel at #TrustCon today brought together leaders from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Public Interest Registry, and VERISIGN to examine the roles that different parts of the internet infrastructure ecosystem can play in protecting children online. Several themes emerged: • Different layers of the internet infrastructure ecosystem have different responsibilities, capabilities, and constraints. • Responses are more effective when people direct clear, actionable information to the organization with the relevant control point. • No single provider or layer can address abuse alone. Coordination across platforms, infrastructure providers, trusted flaggers and law enforcement is essential. • Collaboration and standardized approaches help improve the quality, speed, and effectiveness of abuse response. At the start of July, we took a group of young people from Edinburgh, London, and Birmingham to Silverstone and the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in partnership with Mission 44, to get them up close to the world of motorsport. It tied the work we've done together on the Ignite Programme directly to the industry, turning it into a real, accessible career goal for all of them. At Silverstone, they got hands-on with workshops from IBM and Arduino, toured the Scuderia Ferrari HP garage, and got meet the designers of the LEGO Education go-karts used for the Drivers' Parade. Our Programme Lead, Thomas J. also joined a panel alongside PIR’s CMO, Judy Song-Marshall to discuss the First Lap campaign filmed with some of those same pupils back in March, and debuted a longer version of the film which you can see here: https://lnkd.in/edpERqE4 At Goodwood, they got up close to some of the coolest cars on the planet, met Jess Hawkins from Aston Martin F1 Team ahead of her run up the famous hill, and explored the festival grounds. That's the whole point of Ignite: using motorsport as a way into STEM careers for young people who might not otherwise have pictured themselves there. None of it would be possible without our partners at Mission 44.
