David James posted thisSEO RECOVERY AUDIT CASE STUDY Issue - Internatonal site migration occurred without the necessary processes and checks required to minimise the risk of losing organic traffic. Client mentioned a decrease in lead activity post-migration. The client was originally hesitant to invest in an SEO recovery audit. However, after conducting an initial audit and implementing some initial fixes pro-bono, the client decided to go ahead and invest. ACTIONS We conducted a deep dive audit and found several issues that included SEO issues, and operational issues that affected their lead flow. RESULT Currently at the 6 week mark, traffic levels appear to have come back to their previous levels and expected to climb following additional action steps in the future.

Scott. During my talk, I explored the 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and how we are 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 about others within seconds. We discussed how these perceptions 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁, 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 that come our way. David James liked thisDavid James liked thisI came across a study recently modelling why mining megaprojects blow their budgets and timelines, and it doesn't land on "bad estimating." It lands on something more unsettling - errors compounding. A slightly optimistic tonnage assumption meets a slightly optimistic price assumption meets a slightly optimistic schedule assumption, and by the time they're combined, the plan is fiction presented within a spreadsheet. The headline number stuck with me: the majority of major mining and metals projects studied blew their capital budgets by more than 40%, with schedule slippage timing running 20 to 30% on top of this. Within project evaluation I often see this optimism when carrying out due diligence. Top quartile mining rates based on industry rule-of-thumbs, but not tuned for a remote site location or a rock type that hasn't had geochemical or geotechnical test-work completed for it. None of it is dishonest, exactly. It is just... optimistic, and those small optimisms stack - a rate here, a benchmark there - until the plan moves further and further away from reality resting on layers of assumptions, all untested "on the ground". The uncomfortable part isn't that this happens. It's that it's structural, not personal. Good planners produce this pattern too, because the incentive is almost always to make the number that gets asked for, not the number that survives contact with the mine. There's no easy fix here. The problem is the system - deeply ingrained legacy practices - and not the people in it.

It’s a shift I’ve been seeing firsthand in conversations with business owners. People are doing more research, asking better questions and coming into conversations with a much stronger understanding of SEO, Google Ads and digital strategy. For trustworthy business, I think that’s a good thing. It raises the standard and puts more emphasis on being able to explain why a strategy makes sense, what the investment should achieve, and how it connects back to the business. Ultimately, better-informed clients lead to better conversations and better partnerships. Great to see this topic getting some attention. Understanding the nuances of business operations, system’s, key personel, strengths, identifying skill gaps and using your experience to build a bright future isn’t for the faint hearted. 5 months in (10 weeks of travel to our global business units) and our 3-year vision is taking shape. Hard work, discipline and tough days lay ahead, but WHEN, we deliver our goals we will feel a real sense of achievement and celebrate that success. One last flight and homebound to spend time with the family and get busy bringing the vision to life. Thanks to the team at Fibre By Auskin for having me these last few months. Plenty to do, but we got this!
