Nitin Karunakaran shared thisHow crazy is it that for years, we marketers tried really hard to keep bots out of our websites with CAPTCHAs & bot blockers. Now we're doing everything we can to make sure bots AI bots can get in, digest our entire offerings, recommend our products and services and eventually transact on users behalf. It's almost similar to not getting into a strangers car for years but then technological advances give us Uber and getting into a strangers car is normalised. Think we're looking at a similar thing with bots.

Nitin Karunakaran shared thisIN THE AGE OF AI, THE ONLY FUTURE-PROOF STRATEGY IS TO BECOME A BRAND WORTH RECOMMENDING! While thousands of snake oil salesmen are selling “AI visibility” strategies (and plenty of C-Suite are buying), the funny thing is that AI optimisation is taking marketing back to basics. Remember Product. Price. Place. Promotion? For a retailer selling the same products as everyone else, Product is mostly fixed and Price becomes a race to the bottom. So what’s left? Availability. Delivery. Returns. Warranties. Service. Trust. Reputation. For a SaaS business, Product is almost everything. Does it work? Is it easy to use? Does it integrate properly? Is support any good? A great landing page isn’t going to hide hundreds of customers saying your product is painful to use. AI search is making it harder to optimise around a bad business. You can buy attention but you have to earn the recommendation.

Nitin Karunakaran shared thisReal talk about AI.Nitin Karunakaran shared thisYour next customer might not be a person. 🤖 AI agents have started recommending products, and in some cases buying them, without a human ever seeing your ad or landing on your site. That quietly breaks a few things we've all built careers on: Your SEO doesn't matter if an AI never crawls your page. Your ad creative doesn't matter if there's no human to see it. Your feeds, structured data and reviews become the new battleground. Attribution breaks, because nobody clicked anything. I've been having this conversation one-on-one for MONTHS. Time to put it in a room. Agentic Commerce, Melbourne. Thursday 1 October at the Mantel Hub, Melbourne CBD Four panellists who see this from completely different seats: Lovee Jain, Senior Software Engineer at GDG Melbourne Nitin Karunakaran, National Head of SEO at Alley Group Rahul Sengupta, SEO Lead at Prosperity Media ZIJING (Jine) WU, Senior SEO Manager at REA Group An engineer who builds the systems that do the choosing, and three people who fight for visibility inside them. They won't agree on everything, and that's the point. 60 seats, free for all industry peers. For founders, C-suite and heads of eCommerce, digital, SEO, performance, CX and data, who wants to know how to implement Agentic flows and work with each other, in peace. Link in the comments if you'd like a seat. #AgenticCommerce #SEO #eCommerce #AI #Melbourne

Nitin Karunakaran shared thisWhen information clicks are dropping (zero click searches), conversion rate optimisation becomes a lot more important for ecomm stores. We use anonymised chat data (from preezie) to turn user queries into product page features. Don't create 1000s of automated FAQs to address AI. Optimise the pages to address key elements that make a user buy quicker and inform AI at the same time about key friction points. Less guessing for CRO teams!Nitin Karunakaran shared thisReal insights, Real impact. Nitin Karunakaran shared thisThe Australia Post ecommerce report is out and it validates some of the observations we made over the last year: 1. Brand loyalty has dropped but buying frequency has gone up. (Validates why brand searches are dropping YoY for some brands) 2. Value continues to be the key driver for purchase. Discounts/Sale/Cheapest price are easy to find now than ever before. (there is an increase in sale related searches YoY) 3. Search is messier than ever. AI search is part of awareness, consideration and conversion points of user journeys (I strongly believe most users are not going to buy directly from AI) 4. Customers expect better delivery, service and buying experiences and won't return for poor experiences (this part was also a bit of a promotion by AusPost. Respect) *Image created with ChatGPT

Nitin Karunakaran posted thisI know so many SEOs from India and not one has compared SEO to Cricket. So I fixed that. SEO is basically Test cricket. Not for everyone, but the ones who love it, reallly love it. It needs specialists, not generalists. Bazball (or quick wins) looks exciting, but rarely wins long series. Most of the work is a grind, not highlights. Defence matters as much as attack. And sometimes, a draw is still a win. There you go. Another LinkedIn post where someone compares what they do to something completely random. #MandatoryLinkedInAnalogy #Ashes2025Recap

Nitin Karunakaran liked thisNitin Karunakaran liked thisNothing turns an AI on like well structured data 🔥 SO IN OTHER WORDS... (not new) Data is boring until you make is SEXY and it's all in the 'how to'... That’s my main takeaway from Kindred Talent’s Agentic Commerce night! Last night I battled the rain (see the 3rd pic!) to sit in a room full of SEO's and engineers and whilst robot.txt files were a hot topic, here are a few things everyone needs to know! 👉 Being found and being bought are two different finish lines. Most brands can win the first now. Very few are ready for the second. 👉 If a bot can't read your site, you don't exist. Switch off JavaScript and see what's left. It's humbling. 👉 Your product feed is your new shop window. Every empty field is a question an AI can't answer for you. 👉 Your customers are already telling you what they need. It's sitting in your chatbot logs. 👉 Your reputation lives on Reddit and in reviews, not just on your website. 👉 If an AI misquotes your returns policy, the fallout is still yours. And my favourite part... One panellist admitted he still beats AI at bargain hunting. He saved $900 on a laptop by ignoring its advice 😂 So no, the robots haven’t won yet BUT they ARE shopping and apparently they’re pretty picky. Thank you Lovee Jain, Nitin Karunakaran, @Rahul Sengupta and ZIJING (Jine) WU for being so generous with what you shared and Wylan HoHo, thank you for a brilliant night. It's good to be curious in uncertain times! #AgenticCommerce #GEO #AEO #EcommerceStrategy

Nitin Karunakaran liked thisNitin Karunakaran liked thisI am VERY excited to share the full line-up for the Agentic Commerce series! 🎉 12 speakers. 3 cities. 1 topic. Honestly, I'm really keen on this one, with industry-recognised leaders and respected individuals across SEO, paid media, engineers and business owners, from IAG, REA Group, Optus, Airtasker, Omnicom and more, all taking on the same question: When an agent is the decision-maker, what actually gets you picked? 👀 What I'm most excited about is the discussion. It's not often you get Marketing and Engineering on the same panel, and the diversity is super exciting. For the industry, it's a chance to get past the hype and into HOW this actually works, from people doing it at enterprise scale and founders building with AI every day. And for my connections, it's a room full of great people, high-quality conversation and practical answers you can take back to your team. 1️⃣ Melbourne, Thursday 1 October @ Mantel Lovee Jain, Agentic Systems Engineer @ IAG Nitin Karunakaran, National Head of SEO @ Alley Group (Part of Nunn Media) Rahul Sengupta, Melbourne SEO & GEO Lead @ Prosperity Media ZIJING (Jine) WU, SEO Operations Manager @ REA Group 2️⃣ Brisbane, Thursday 8 October @ The Precinct, Fortitude Valley Stelios Moudakis, General Manager, Discoverability @ Omnicom Media Australia Brendan Christie, Head of Performance & Data Science @ Media Merchants Sally Mills, Senior SEO Consultant and Founder @ Brisbane SEO Beers Anky An, Apps Engineering Practice Principal (QLD) @ NCS Australia 3️⃣ Sydney, Thursday 22 October @ Iru, Salesforce Tower Aidan Beanland, Digital Discovery Lead @ Optus Regan McGregor, Discoverability Lead @ Airtasker Tara Iwamoto, Founder @ Vibe Coding Lab Sarah Saputra, Founder @ Belle Fever Jewellery & ORIAI If you're in Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney and looking for great content and high-quality discussion across insurance, property, telco, retail, marketplaces, media and tech, this one is not to be missed. Nitin Karunakaran liked thisMost businesses should focus their AEO efforts on ChatGPT, ignore the rest right now When we do SEO we focus on Google because it drives the most value 🤷♂️ The data continue to suggest that ChatGPT is the main driver of engagement for businesses right now, so if you're trying to get an AEO program off the ground, focus on one platform for the time being https://lnkd.in/eCyQJStW

Nitin Karunakaran liked thisNitin Karunakaran liked thisEven the worse scammers on the planet know they can manipulate AI Overviews.. This FAKE American football player romance scammed 26 different women out of $1.3m by using fake stories in Google results to make them believe he was signed to the 49ers 🙃 But consumers are in danger here! Everyone has been trained to spot fraudulent websites, but they're getting trained to explicitly trust AI answers - A fake story on a random website looks questionable, but the same claim presented as Google’s answer can look like independent confirmation.. It isn’t, ever!!! Repeating a claim and verifying it are two very different things, and there is very little fact checking going on. To be fair, this isn't just a Google problem, it's affecting ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity etc.. all as well - But AIOs have far more distribution than anything else right now.

Nitin Karunakaran liked thisExcited to announce I’ll be speaking at the Agentic Commerce panel on Thursday, October 1st at the Mantel Hub in Melbourne! We’re tackling a massive shift in our industry: AI agents recommending and buying products without a human ever seeing your ads or landing pages. When attribution breaks and traditional SEO gets bypassed, how do you stay visible? I’m joining a fantastic lineup Nitin Karunakaran, Lovee Jain, and ZIJING (Jine) WU moderated by Wylan Ho to debate how we navigate a world where feeds, structured data, and reviews are the new storefront. There are only 60 free seats available for industry peers (Perfect for founders, C-suite, and heads of digital/eComm/SEO/CX). Would love to see you there. Backlinks are still one of the most important ranking factors in SEO. But not all links are created equal. A single link from a reputable, relevant Australian website is worth far more than dozens of low-quality links from random directories. Quality over quantity, every time. Building a strong backlink profile takes time and genuine relationship building. Anyone telling you they can get you hundreds of links overnight is not being straight with you. We do it the right way. Google Ads Agency Pricing Explained for Brisbane Businesses https://lnkd.in/gtZXKYwi Google Ads agency pricing in Australia usually breaks into two costs, a management fee of about A$500–A$2,000+ per month or 10%–20% of ad spend, plus the budget paid straight to Google. For a Brisbane small business, that means the question is rarely “what does Google Ads cost?” and more often “what am I paying an agency to do with my money?” A lot of owners get stuck at the same moment. Three agencies send through three quotes, each one looks different, and none of them makes the sp...
