I’m an SEO expert and don’t even know if websites will be a thing in the future. Google (primarily) and other competitors like chatgpt etc want to control traffic because they make money when they have attention. They control the search and what people do when they get to their interface. Take the 2nd and 3rd level effects of that and it’s easy to see why a Google business profile will continue to grow as the main asset into the future. Here’s how I think it will roll out. Look at what google has done with airline flights. You can book directly on Google now. No reason to visit Expedia anymore. I’m confident they will acquire or build in websites and service provider searches will feel more like thumbtack but on Google without a reason to leave. It makes sense to me that this will happen. The machines have become smarter and thus, real user signals are more important. Things that can’t be proven to be real are valueless. IE. Google/chatgpt won’t waste time and money crawling content that it wrote itself and instead will preference reviews and interactions that it can verify by IP address. TLDR: non tech enabled SEO’s and businesses that are not agile have a hard road in front of them. Get real reviews. Don’t produce spam. ChatGPT’s new Atlas browser might be a game-changer for SEO. It can now search and even complete purchases right inside the browser—a notable shift in how people interact with the web. That said, Google still dominates on speed and scale. For now, ChatGPT is more of a complement than a replacement. Interestingly, this change could hit PPC harder than SEO. AI tends to skip above-the-fold ads, favoring organic results instead. When I asked ChatGPT directly, it said: “I avoid clicking on ads. I focus on organic results and official sources for reliability and safety.” The takeaway? SEO fundamentals don’t change: fast, well-structured sites that people actually enjoy using will always win. Build that, and AI might start “buying” from you too. In fact, this shift could make organic traffic even more valuable, as search monetization moves from ad clicks toward subscriptions. More transactions could default to organic. Potential win for SEOs: big opportunity to capture real, sustainable attention.

The next eCommerce SEO war won’t be fought on Google. It’ll be fought inside AI chat interfaces. What most brands haven’t realized yet…. When customers start searching with conversational queries (“What’s the best sleep electrolyte powder for recovery?”), the AI doesn’t pull from your ad or your homepage. It pulls from your product data. - Titles - Descriptions - FAQs Etc. If that data isn’t machine-readable and semantically rich, you’ll be invisible to AI. This is why we’re already rethinking how we structure product information for our eCommerce clients: 1) Titles MUST read like answers (not labels) 2) Descriptions MUST include the phrases customers actually type into ChatGPT and Perplexity. 3) FAQs should mirror long-tail, intent-driven questions (“Is it safe to mix this with creatine?”). It’s not “SEO” anymore. It’s data readability. And brands that optimize for human readability and machine comprehension will own the next era of product discovery. Keep an eye out for this.

A couple of weeks ago, a viral LinkedIn post claimed that you could replace paid SEO tools with just a handful of ChatGPT prompts. People seemed to love it. But SEOs didn't. Because it completely misunderstands what ChatGPT and LLMs do. They don't, and can't do SEO. They can only talk about it. It can sound like an expert, drop the right terms, and even generate a believable table of “low-competition, high-intent” keywords with CPC and search volume. But these numbers are completely fictional. They can’t see the data that powers SEO. They can only approximate it. If you’re okay with this, then that’s perfectly fine. What’s not okay is believing the numbers generated by ChatGPT to be true and other people telling you you can simply trust what ChatGPT is generating. There's good news: the problem isn’t with AI. It’s the disconnect between LLMs and SEO data. If you can connect ChatGPT and other LLMs to live SEO data, you could get actionable SEO insights as if you were talking to a friend. And you can. With the Ahrefs MCP. More in the link below 👇

I got this email yesterday. A shiny new website can actually hurt visibility on Google and ChatGPT. This one is crushing it. When we helped this long-time client roll out their new website, there was a lot at stake. A redesign can easily erase years of SEO and AI visibility if it’s not handled carefully. Scary! But because we’d worked with them for years, we had the performance history to measure what “better” really meant. Before launch, they had 31 high-value actions from organic search and AI per month. After launch, that jumped to 67. And their cost per action dropped by half. The takeaway is new leads are costing half as much as leads from their old site. That kind of improvement doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when a new site is designed with real Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) baked in from day one. A redesign should never be a reset. It should be an acceleration. If your site launch didn’t move the needle, let’s take a closer look. Sometimes the fix is easier than you think. 👉 Schedule an SEO Power Hour and we’ll help your “after” be truly better than your “before.”

its so obvious and idk why people fighting for it like SEO is their cousin. without Google there wouldn't be ChatGPT, the data Google collected and ran on over the years is the real foundation. now the argument is not based on what's the foundation. SEO works for Google and GEO and AEO works for AI like ChatGPT. Both platforms are different. now I can say there wouldn't be Google without .com now what? stop arguing on stupid shit, both are different because the functions are different for different platforms. if you know how to do SEO or GEO then stfu and focus on your work. SEO works for Google Ranking, and GEO works for AI mentions. end of the argument.

Prediction: ChatGPT’s GEO program will devour Google’s SEO program in 2 years The acquisition of DoubleClick by Google years ago catapulted the company to its $3.5 Trillion valuation today. Think about it this way, Google’s SEO* ecosystem works like an auction service for words. The word “Potato” has a higher value and subsequent relatable word like “fries”, “mash”, or “farm” have values adjacent to the word is pole position. Since November 2022 the other ‘Search’ bar in town is ChatGPT, where people write in greater details and give greater context in their prompts. For ChatGPT It means: better context = better auction service = robust GEO* ecosystem = ads for you! 🎉 Small fish will eat big fish. *SEO - Search Engine Optimisation *GEO - Generative Engine Optimisation PS: this is a follow up to my prediction earlier today

This new ChatGPT Atlas browser just changed how I do SEO. Here’s how: #1. I downloaded ChatGPT Atlas (built on Chromium). It’s like Chrome - but with ChatGPT integrated directly into your browser. You can still use your Chrome extensions like Grammarly, Detailed SEO, or LastPass. #2. I opened my client’s website and selected a piece of text. Right-click → “Ask ChatGPT” → “Rewrite this to make it more SEO helpful.” ✅ It instantly analyzed the page and rewrote the content - keeping entities, context, and readability optimized. #3. Then I tested it on an eCommerce site. Prompt: “Can you find all the vape types this store sells?” Atlas listed every product category with URLs - perfect for identifying missing topical clusters. #4. Next, I tried it on a local business website. Prompt: “Can you list all the service pages this site has?” It gave me a full list of URLs like: - Routine dental care - Teeth whitening - Cosmetic dental services It even grouped them by Top, Middle, and Bottom of the funnel automatically! That’s when it hit me: This isn’t just another AI writing tool. This is a real SEO assistant, capable of -content rewrites, -site structure audits, -topical authority checks, all from your browser. I’m blown away. 🔥 If you’re into SEO, eCommerce, or local marketing, this might be the most useful AI browser you’ll try this year. 💬 Have you tested ChatGPT Atlas yet? Would you use it in your SEO workflow?
