The value of Humans + AI collaboration in the real world: an academic study of 776 R&D professionals at Procter & Gamble revealed not just substantial performance gains from AI, but a host of other gains, including in emotional state. Some of the stand out insights from the research paper (link in comments): 🚀 AI + teams unlock top-tier innovation. Teams using AI were 9.2 percentage points more likely to produce top 10% solutions compared to the 5.8% baseline—making them about three times more likely to generate standout ideas. This effect was not seen for individuals using AI, highlighting a unique benefit in combining AI with human collaboration. ⏱️ AI makes work faster and more detailed. Individuals with AI completed their work 16.4% faster, and teams with AI were 12.7% faster than their non-AI counterparts. At the same time, AI-enabled groups produced significantly longer and more detailed solutions, with higher average quality scores. 🧩 AI dissolves functional silos. Without AI, Commercial and R&D professionals proposed solutions aligned with their functional backgrounds—market-oriented vs. technical. With AI, this gap disappeared: both groups generated more balanced ideas, regardless of their original specialization. This pattern held across individuals and teams. 📈 AI lifts less experienced employees to team-level performance. Employees whose core job did not include product development performed significantly worse in the control conditions. However, when these non-core employees worked with AI, their performance matched that of teams containing core-role employees. 😊 AI improves emotional states during work. Participants using AI reported significantly higher increases in positive emotions—such as excitement, energy, and enthusiasm—and lower increases in negative emotions like anxiety and frustration. Individuals with AI experienced a 0.457 standard deviation increase in positive emotions, and AI-enabled teams saw an even larger 0.635 boost. 🏢 AI challenges traditional assumptions about team structures. The study found that individuals with AI performed as well as human teams without AI, while AI-enabled teams were significantly more likely to produce top-decile solutions. The authors conclude that this challenges long-standing assumptions about the necessity and structure of collaboration. They suggest organizations may need to rethink how they compose teams and allocate expertise in an AI-integrated environment.

Sometimes a 30-minute deployment is stuck behind weeks of stakeholder meetings. 3. Throughput and its composition: Monitor the balance between new features, maintenance, and bug fixes. My guiding principle each week is the 'Rule of Three': identifying three top priorities that serve as my North Star. These aren't just scribbled in a planner but physically placed on my office wall, a constant visual reminder of my core focus. This practice not only keeps me centered amidst the whirlwind of daily tasks but also ensures that every action is a step toward our most critical goals. Sharing these priorities with my direct reports does more than foster transparency — it aligns our efforts, synchronizes our strides, and forms the bedrock of our collective pursuit. It's a simple yet profoundly effective strategy that has continually steered us toward meaningful progress and impactful results. Next, time blocking has been a critical strategy. Carving out dedicated blocks for deep work, meetings, and even unexpected tasks allows me to create a rhythm amidst the chaos. This isn't just about sticking to a schedule; it's about allocating mental space and ensuring that high-priority projects get the uninterrupted attention they deserve. I always check each Friday that my time blocked schedule appropriately reflects the work I need to accomplish for my top three priorities. Lastly, I leverage automation and delegation. By automating routine tasks and delegating effectively, I maintain focus on what truly requires my expertise. It's not just about offloading work; it's about empowering my team by entrusting them with responsibilities that aid their growth while freeing me to lead more effectively. A framework I really like using is the Eisenhower matrix around categorizing work based on its urgency and importance. I try and focus as much of my work as I can on the important and urgent tasks. Implementing these strategies hasn’t just boosted my personal productivity; it sets a precedent for the whole team. When leaders manage their time effectively, it cascades down, fostering a culture of efficiency and clarity. We track why it happens (infra drift, pipeline bugs, or config issues) Rollback is the silent killer of developer trust. 5. 𝐇𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 Not average latency. Not p95. We track volatility across hot paths. Especially during deploys, autoscaling, or burst traffic. This exposes hidden platform debt. 6. 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 A composite we built: - Change failure rate - Config diff size - Service dependency blast radius - Rollback history - Team experience Helps us predict risk before a deployment happens. 7. Example: A claims agent that approves low-risk claims, escalates edge cases, and keeps humans in control. 2. NORTH STAR METRIC Pick one metric that captures value in production. • Net value per decision ↳ Fraud agent prevents $25 loss per case, costs $4 to run/review. Net value = $21. • Regret rate (% of decisions reversed) ↳ Out of 10,000 recommendations, 800 are changed by humans. Regret rate = 8%. • Revenue impact ↳ AI routing lifts conversion from 2.0% to 2.3% on 1M visits (3,000 extra conversions). • Cost per correct action ↳ Monthly run cost $200K / 400K correct actions = $0.50 per action. 3. DATA Leverage post-launch signals to understand behavior. • Decisions & outcomes ↳ Tracking "Approve claim" vs. whether it later became a chargeback. • Overrides & appeals ↳ Agent rejects refund → customer appeals → human approves. (Log this loop!) • Latency & failures ↳ P95 latency spikes during peak hours causing tool call timeouts. 4. CONSTRAINTS Constraints define what is sustainable at scale. External: • Market behavior: Fraud patterns shift after you deploy. • User adaptation: Reps stop trusting suggestions after two bad calls, even if accuracy is high. 5. IDEATION + PRIORITIZATION Generate metric-driven improvements. • Impact vs risk: Automate low-risk approvals first. Keep high-risk human-led. • Regret frequency: 60% of overrides come from document parsing? Fix that first. • Drift severity: Regret rate rises from 6% to 11%? Roll back or retrain. • Cost vs value: Add a retrieval step that costs $0.02 but cuts regret by 20%. 6. How I Manage My Time as a Mom, Coach, and Director 7 Game-Changing Time Management Tips for 2025 Juggling motherhood, coaching, and leadership roles, I’ve tested countless strategies. These seven are the real game-changers—ones you won’t hear often but will transform how you approach time in 2025. 1. I Design My Weeks, Not Just My Days Most people plan their days, but I batch-design my weeks. Mondays are for deep work. Tuesdays and Thursdays for client calls. Wednesdays for content. Fridays for strategy. This eliminates decision fatigue and keeps me mentally prepared for each type of task. 2. The 30% Rule for Meetings & Calls I never book more than 30% of my available hours in meetings or calls. Why? Because deep work and creative thinking need space. If my schedule feels too ‘full,’ my performance drops. Meetings should move the needle, not just fill time. 3. I Use “Focus Hours” Instead of Time Blocking Time blocking is great in theory, but life happens. Instead, I use “Focus Hours”—2-3 daily slots where I go completely offline, eliminate distractions, and focus on high-impact tasks. No multitasking, just flow. 4. My To-Do List Has a ‘Don’t Do’ Section Every morning, I write a "Don’t Do" list: things I could do but shouldn’t. This prevents me from getting stuck in low-impact work. Example: “Don’t check LinkedIn before writing content” or “Don’t reply to emails before 11 AM.” 5. I Work with My Energy, Not Against It Instead of forcing productivity at all hours, I schedule work around my natural energy cycles. Mornings = deep work. Afternoons = calls. Evenings = light admin. Aligning work with energy creates momentum, not burnout. 6. I Automate, Delegate, and Delete Ruthlessly Anything repetitive gets automated. Anything outside my genius zone gets delegated. Anything unnecessary gets deleted. Time is too valuable to spend on things that don’t drive results. Mastering this was a game-changer. 7. I Prioritize Peace Over Productivity If I’m not calm, focused, and present—my time management fails no matter how structured it is. I meditate daily, protect my downtime, and embrace “white space” in my schedule to avoid burnout. Because rested minds create powerful results.
