Kaitlyn Flynn shared thisWhat to do when you find out your husband was part of today's XBOX layoffs? Write a LinkedIn post bragging about him. So here we go... Kevin Flynn is one of the hardest-working people I know, and genuinely brilliant when it comes to AI, problem solving, business strategy, and the gaming industry. I have never once seen him not flourish at something he set out to do - and I've had a front-row seat for a while now. I know something big awaits. Until then, we'll be soaking up some summer sun with our daughter. But consider this your heads-up, business world: one truly exceptional Principal PM is available. If your team could use him, his post is below - go say hi before someone else does 😉Kaitlyn Flynn shared thisHow do you get laid off on your day off?! After nearly 2 years at XBOX, I was very sad to learn I was impacted by the layoffs today. (My LinkedIn can't catch a break this year - first hackers wiped my job history, now this. At least this time there's severance.) I greatly enjoyed my role of being thrown at random problems to solve - everything from getting our PM AI adoption from 12% to 91% in 3 months by building a PM specific AI harness, working on mobile strategy, building a custom AI agent to fix xbox.com's broken SEO schema, finally updating XBOX's genres that were last updated in 2003 (in testing now and hopefully coming soon), and building a proof-of-concept custom game tagging system that was able to analyze a game's screenshots and trailers with 98% accuracy to better categorize games to help players find similar titles or mechanics they are interested in (check it out: https://lnkd.in/gUxmTRzv). I also just realized in my 15 years in gaming, I've never taken more than 10 days in a row off. So my first goal is to spend some time with my daughter and decide what I want to do moving forward. My DMs are always open if anyone wants to catch up! To my colleagues impacted for the first time by a layoff - things will work out. I've been here before and probably will be again at some point in the future. Don't take it personally - I had just received the best performance review of my career a few weeks before this. In mass layoffs, the decisions are typically completely outside your control and are a function of what org you were in, not how you performed. Again, if anyone needs to chat, my DMs are open!

Kaitlyn Flynn shared thisResharing for my Dev network!Kaitlyn Flynn shared thisCan you help? I'm looking for professional developers (doesn't matter the language or platform) who would be willing to be interviewed by me about your career as a software developer. Just a 30-minute recorded Teams call. Would love to meet you! I'm part of a project at Microsoft that is developing a deeper understanding of the "developer journey" ... so, I'm interested in just learning about your career path, your motivations in learning what you learned, resources you used to learn or do research as told in your own words. This could potentially inform decisions that Microsoft makes related to developer content in the future. If you're interested, please send me a private message, and thank you! (Please share with your network!) #developer #career #softwaredeveloper

Kaitlyn Flynn liked thisKaitlyn Flynn liked thisIt’s 2026, and women are still thanking other women for making motherhood visible in professional settings. After announcing that I recently became a mum, I received some lovely messages from women thanking me for making the decision to share. It surprised me. Their messages made me think about how often women still have to consider whether being visibly a mother will change how their professional authority is perceived. Regular programming on privacy and AI governance will resume here of course. I remain deeply committed to that work. This won’t become an account on parenthood, but I am a mum now. I have no intention of editing it out of my professional presence. How much anyone shares about family should be entirely their choice. I fully respect those who keep that part of their lives private. My own choice is to make room for both, especially given my work has always involved children and teen (online) safety as well. For example through my 2019 TEDx talk. Having a baby girl has made me think a lot about this. If knowing that I am a mother changes someone’s assessment of my capability or closes a door, that tells me something useful. Both sides of this photograph are me. That is how I intend to show up here.

Kaitlyn Flynn liked thisKaitlyn Flynn liked thisDiscovery in the games space seems like one of the biggest problems the industry is facing now, and I think with better tagging of games we can get better game recommendations and discovery. So I've been tinkering with my AI GameTagger project - it looks at a game's store page, screenshots and trailer and tags what the game actually is with art style, gameplay mechanics, genre and so on. I wanted to see if Jev (a decision model AI that just selects what it thinks something is versus actually writing a long response) could improve the efficiency. The first version handed Claude everything in one big prompt and asked for the tags. It worked, but I always wondered - was it really looking at the game, or just remembering what it knew about the name? The new version splits the job in two. Claude now only describes what it can see in each screenshot and trailer clip. Then Jev judges each of 189 tags one at a time, using only the evidence allowed to answer it - and it never gets told the game's name. It can also say "not enough evidence" instead of guessing. I ran both on the top 100 games on PC and mobile through the system (Steam most-played + Google Play top-grossing) and then cross checked the results against the tags Steam players vote on: An average of 35 tags per game instead of 17, each one traceable to its evidence Jev found 77% of what players tagged vs 45% for the old prompt (on tags both can describe, they're basically tied - the gain is coverage) Jev said "no" to something players had tagged under 1% of the time, vs about 6% with the old method The biggest surprise was cost. Jev's own judging step is under a third of a cent per game. Nearly everything else is Claude describing images - and in an early 20-game test, moving that to Claude Haiku in half-price batches got the whole thing under 4 cents a game with nearly the same results. I'm hoping to get a system that can accurately tag new games within minutes so we can also understand what tags and genres are becoming popular to keep up with the latest trends. I'll have more to say soon, but keep me in mind if you've got a role available. I've been heads down in AI developer tooling for the past few years and I've spent 11 billion tokens (338 years of productivity) in 6 months writing an unfathomable amount of code for personal projects. Keep me in mind!

Kaitlyn Flynn liked thisKaitlyn Flynn liked thisJob posts always say, "fast-paced environment," but that doesn't really tell you much. So here's the less-marketing, more-honest version. We're hiring a Senior Technical Product Manager, and here's what the job actually is: you walk into something complicated that has to do with Sovereign requirements, no one fully agrees on the shape of it yet, and your job is to make it simpler and make sense. Then you help deliver the thing. Then you explain the thing to different audiences. It's part Product Manager, part Technical PM, part translator, and part helping a lot of smart people agree on the same thing. The ideal candidate has experience working on sovereign-cloud products, a very strong bias for action, and a good sense of humor. The problems are serious, but we don't have to take ourselves too seriously. https://lnkd.in/gGJ22kMY #Microsoft #Hiring #ProductManager #TPM #TechJobs #Azure #Sovereign #Hashtag

Kaitlyn Flynn liked thisKaitlyn Flynn liked thisI used to think a great manager could make almost any company work. I don’t think that anymore. I was talking to someone recently who left another company because she felt overworked, unsupported in her growth, and eventually realized that moving internally was harder than she expected. What stood out to me wasn’t simply that she had a bad experience. It was how much of the problem sat above her individual team. A great manager can create clarity, advocate for you, give you visibility, and help you grow. But even the best manager is still operating inside a larger system. And that system determines things like who gets promoted, whether internal mobility is actually possible, how leaders handle conflict, and whether high performers are developed or simply given more work. That’s why company culture has become part of how I think about Career as Capital. I’m not only asking whether a role will pay me well or teach me something valuable. I’m also asking whether the environment will allow the value I build to actually compound. Before joining a company, I want to know: Can strong performers move internally? Who actually gets promoted? What happens when someone wants something different from the path their manager has in mind for them? Your manager can shape your experience. But the company determines how many options you actually have. And for me, that matters just as much as the role itself. What's one thing you now research before joining a company?

🚨 Hot take incoming 🚨 Signals are bullshit. (Before you start cursing at me, read this) At the start of 2026 everyone was talking about signals. And only signals. Nonstop. > Hiring > Funding > New Technology Everyone was hyping this. Probably because it was an easy way to get engagement. I was encouraged by people to post about it. But I didn't. It wasn't something I believed in and I didn't believe it could deliver sustainable pipeline. Why? You find one signal. You try 7 or 8 different signal campaigns. It takes a ton of work. Then none work or maybe 1 or 2 work. You get a few leads but then there are no more leads with that signal. Then what do you do? And see where we are today. The signal content has dropped off massively. I don't see anyone speaking about it anymore. My belief has always been this: Find the best message that can resonate with the biggest amount of your market. Find message-market fit. Then do not be scared of volume. Volume is your best friend in this game. 100%. Want to find MMF for your product? Apply for our free outbound trial here -> https://lnkd.in/eRQpEnSZ
