Software is now written by AI. That gap is about to break a lot of teams. Today we’re launching Firetiger and announcing our $7.6M seed round led by Lauren Reeder and Alfred Lin at Sequoia Capital. Firetiger is the agentic operations layer for the agentic coding era. It finds what’s broken, figures out why, and works with other agents to propose the fix as a pull request. No dashboards. No pagers. No 2am war rooms. Here’s the uncomfortable truth: most observability tools were designed in the early 2010s to help humans stare at graphs.They require your best engineers to translate business goals into instrumentation, alerts, and runbooks. Then manually correlate deploys to regressions. The result is operational theater. Rituals that feel important but do not actually make software more reliable. And the pricing model is misaligned. Vendors make more money when you send them more data. Not when your software gets better. This mattered less when humans wrote every line of code. Now AI coding agents are shipping larger and more complex changes than ever. The gap between “code written” and “code verified working in production” is widening every week. Jon Todd liked thisJon Todd liked thisAfter an amazing 4 years, I had my last day at Amazon earlier this month. When I first joined, I led research on what keeps people engaged at Amazon. The answer was crystal clear: the opportunity to work with smart people, on hard problems, for impact at scale. While I loved tackling hard problems and was humbled by the scale, the highlight of Amazon was the people. It was such a privilege to work with and learn from so many brilliant, innovative, principled, dedicated colleagues. I don’t have space to name them all, so I’ll just mention my incredible leaders. Tonya White Hallett, SPHR who reminded me to always be the smile and is my all-time favorite brainstorming partner. Krista Booth, PHR, a real friend whose example taught me what it means to be Amazonian. Sunny Jain, a true leadership role model who challenged me to always think bigger and bring the wow. And Piyush Saraogi, whose high standards and mentorship helped me exceed what I thought possible, and whose empathy and humor made it fun. Most recently, he co-founded Galway Sustainable Capital, Inc, building the platform to nearly $700M raised in just over four years from institutional partners including Macquarie Asset Management, Oaktree Capital Management, L.P., and Aware Super, before exiting in May 2025. Throughout his career, Trent has invested in and led multiple $B+ companies as well as taken multiple companies public. His experience spans renewable energy and storage, green buildings and data centers, mobility, sustainable agriculture, and next-generation manufacturing and recycling solutions. From day one, I knew I was joining a special place with an incredible group of people. What I didn’t fully realize back then was how much we would build together, how much I would grow, and how many lifelong friendships would come out of it. I’m deeply grateful for the trust, the opportunities, and the chance to work alongside some of the most talented, thoughtful, and kind humans I’ve met. To everyone I collaborated with over the years: thank you. For the support, the challenge, the teamwork, and the laughs. You made this chapter unforgettable. Anthropic just shipped file-system agents to consumers. The architecture matters more than the feature! Cowork takes Claude Code's autonomous capabilities and removes the CLI barrier - now anyone on macOS can point Claude at a folder and let it execute multi-step workflows. Organize files, process data, create documents. The AI plans and executes independently. Why the technical approach matters Most AI tools operate in browser sandboxes. Cowork works at the OS level - executing file operations autonomously, not just suggesting edits. That's a fundamentally different execution model. Anthropic built this in ~1.5 weeks using Claude Code itself. When AI can scaffold its own tooling, development velocity changes completely. What this signals strategically The AI productivity market is bifurcating: 1. Chat-based tools scale horizontally (more users, more conversations, commoditizing) 2. Agentic tools scale vertically (fewer users, higher value, defensible if you solve for trust) Anthropic's $100-200/month pricing reflects this - they're positioning Cowork as workflow infrastructure, not consumer SaaS. The constraint is trust, not capability Claude can delete files and execute arbitrary operations. That's why this is a controlled research preview. The technical primitive works - the challenge is building trust infrastructure to scale it. Audit logs, rollback mechanisms, granular permissions - these are requirements, not nice-to-haves. Why OS-level access is the real trend Browser AI is limited by web security models. It can't access local files, email databases, or coordinate between applications without manual intervention. You feed it context, then manually move its output somewhere useful. OS-level AI sees your complete working context and executes full workflows autonomously. Pull data from email, update a spreadsheet, draft a report, sync to cloud - without human intervention between steps. Most valuable work happens between applications. Browser AI lives in one tab. System-level AI orchestrates across your entire computing environment. This is why the trend isn't just "better AI" - it's where AI runs. Browser tools compete on inference quality and UI (commoditizing fast). OS-level tools compete on integration depth and trust infrastructure (defensible, takes years to build). Where this leads If file-system agents prove out, next is inter-application orchestration. Today Cowork organizes folders. Tomorrow it coordinates across your file system, calendar, email and task manager. The highest-leverage AI applications won't live in browsers - they will live in your system with administrator-level permissions. Cowork isn't just a productivity feature.
