Above’s RSOC Solution to the AFD Crisis
Having just returned from Domain Days Dubai, it was clear there was a buzz of genuine concern in the air. Everybody’s talking about the elephant in the room, and it seems most operators and investors are striving to find a solution to address their drops in Google parking-based revenues.
Why are parking revenues down? Adsense for Domains (AFD), Google's monetization service that allowed domainers to generate revenue by showing ads through referral traffic, is almost dead.
Currently, if someone lands on a parked page, they can click any of the results shown. But, there are hardly any advertisers left for the keywords being used because they were all automatically opted out of the Google changes over the past 12 months.
But it’s not all doom and gloom. History constantly shows us that, as some good things come to an end, others come in to fill the void.
We have the best mix of monetization available, from AFD, Affiliate, Direct to Advertiser (Zeroclick), Yahoo and RSOC (Related Search on Content) in the final testing stage, and already showing great results!
Why RSOC? Google advertisers are not opted out, unlike those on AFD. Meaning your domains can tap into the full power of Google Ads and return your parking revenues to where they were a year ago.
Above.com is the Solution. To benefit from this rollout, start adding domains to the Above platform now.
Our team need time to analyze your domains traffic, work out what the best categories and keywords need to be applied and start to generate content articles in advance that trigger the best RSOC ad blocks. The sooner your domains are on Above, the sooner they can leverage RSOC monetization.
How does RSOC work? Google RSOC embeds relevant search queries into content pages, helping increase engagement through more intent-driven searches. The concept of RSOC was initially designed for traffic arbitrage, but Above.com, through a direct partnership with Google, can send domain traffic to an RSOC-enabled monetized domain.
However, innovation comes with challenges. Firstly, RSOC has been difficult to set up and currently offers limited tracking, making it hard to achieve accurate reporting on a per-domain basis. This is where innovation comes in, and Above’s ability to track millions of domains on a domain-level is nearing launch.
Can every domain use RSOC? The short answer is yes, all domains can, but as with every solution, not all domains will perform equally well; some will perform better with a different solution, especially ‘direct to advertiser deals,’ which should still outperform all other methods.
Also, not every domain name will initially qualify, as each domain also requires content to be generated. AI can only do so much; as human editors need to complete the finer touches, which takes time, so get your domains on Above to jump the waitlist.
One of Above’s key goals at the moment is to create domain-friendly RSOC page solutions with accurate tracking that deliver significantly better results for Google advertisers than people are currently experiencing.
We are close; so stay tuned for an official launch date for client access. If you need help or have any queries, our Account Managers are ready to support you.
