Bryan Chang shared this💪💪💪Bryan Chang shared thisHey there! It’s hard to believe we’re already more than a quarter of the way through this year. As someone who’s so focused on the future, you’d think I’d be less surprised by the passing of time… and yet, here we are! 😅 With an eventful few months in the books, I’m excited to share some of the latest milestones from our portfolio! Beanless coffee company Compound Foods and geothermal heating provider Dandelion Energy were both featured in Pique Action’s mini docu-series about companies dedicated to helping solve the climate crisis. We backed Diferente ≠, a new food business promoting healthier, more sustainable and cheaper options. It’s our first investment based in Brazil! 🇧🇷 Endless West, which engineers sustainable whiskey that tastes aged without requiring the time and materials used in traditional whiskey production, raised $60M co-led by UBS and Level One to expand its molecular spirits tech. Kula Bio raised $50M to accelerate production of what it calls a “next generation” nitrogen fertilizer that’s designed to be more environmentally friendly than traditional crop inputs. Cellular Longevity, Inc., dba Loyal launched its latest canine aging study, X-Thousand Dogs. All 2,000 DNA sampling kits were claimed in less than 24 hours! Clutter merged with MakeSpace to add scale to the business of moving and storage. We backed MeliBio, a company turning the 9,000-year-old method of honey production on its head by making sustainable (and real!) honey without bees. Biofabrication company Modern Meadow teamed up with luxury fashion label Senreve to create a new vegan handbag collection. Mori, a food tech company focused on extending shelf-life to reduce waste and create more sustainable supply chains, raised $50M in new financing. OLIPOP PBC, which makes sparkling tonics that promote gut health, raised $30M in its latest funding round, valuing the brand at $200M after just three years in business. OLIPOP anticipates achieving a $100M run-rate by EOY. Quaise Energy secured $40M in additional funding to unlock terawatt-scale geothermal energy. We backed Rubi Laboratories, a startup creating new, environmentally friendlier materials by capturing waste CO2 and producing natural, “carbon negative cellulose” textiles. Square Roots opened an indoor farm in Kenosha, Wisconsin — its fourth in North America! Farming robotics company Traptic, best known for its strawberry-picking robot, was acquired by Bowery Farming to further accelerate efforts in vertical farming. Zero Acre Farms, which removes destructive vegetable oils from the food system by using the ancient art of fermentation, came out of stealth. Zoomo, which is encouraging the shift from urban car usage to LEV’s (light electric vehicles, or ebikes) raised another $20M in additional funding. That’s all for now! Wishing everyone well as we head into spring. Craig

Bryan Chang shared thisGo Justin and team Ami ❤️🔥🚀🙌Bryan Chang shared this2 years ago, I was diagnosed with GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and began a journey of acknowledging and trying to better manage my mental health. Throughout that journey, I've come to a simple but life-changing realization: workers in Asia (like myself) are the most stressed in the world and yet we still have the worst access to mental health care. Fast-forward to today, I'm super excited to share that Beknazar Abdikamalov and I have started Ami - the most accessible mental wellness coaching solution for fast growing companies in APAC. We partner with employers to provide employees with direct access to great mental health coaches, all with the click of a button on your phone. Our goal is to make mental health care as easy as checking the weather and as comfortable as talking to a friend. Also incredibly excited to announce our pre-seed funding round from January Capital, Goodwater Capital, Strong Ventures, Collaborative Fund and angels from Google, Khosla Ventures, BOND, Golden Gate Ventures, and AC Ventures. These amazing investors have been kind enough to believe in our vision of redefining mental wellness in APAC and back us from day 1. If you want to learn more or just chat about what we’re building, DM me and I’ll get back to you in 24 hrs - we’re so excited to start helping people lead happier and healthier lives! Huge shoutout to Bek for taking this journey with me and to our amazing investors for joining us on the ride: John Nahm, Kihong Bae, Jin Oh, Benjamin Dunphy, Jonathan Hodson, Jason Edwards, Bryan Chang, Daegwon Chae, Bradley Horowitz, Irene Au, Jeffrey Chua, YC Ng, Edward Suh, Jeremy Cai, Mohammed Alabsi, Chris Synn, Alvin T., Jin woo Lee and more. Thank you John Kang for sharing our story!

Bryan Chang liked thisCredit to my partners John Edgar and Jane Lee for codifying how we build conviction at Maple VC when underwriting early-stage opportunities. Thanks for asking the question Amrit Rao.Bryan Chang liked this"Contrarianism alone isn't conviction. If we can't explain what we see, why others are missing it, and what proves us wrong, we don't have a thesis." Andre Charoo, Founding Partner of Maple VC, built a three-part test for what that actually means: see the person, see the inevitability, see the delta. The last one is the hardest, and the one most investors skip. Full episode in the comments.

Bryan Chang liked thisBryan Chang liked thisNew look, who dis? We’ve refreshed Ritual Capital’s brand and launched a new website that brings more of its personality and purpose to life. To help, I called one of my oldest friends, Kurt Parker. We’ve known each other since high school and college, and while he’s spent his career working on brands like Nike and lululemon, I’ve spent much of mine investing in startups. I figured we’d start with logos, fonts and colors. Instead, Kurt gave me homework: write the word “Ritual” 100 times, by hand. At first, I overthought every letter, trying different R’s, spacing and angles. Eventually, I stopped trying so hard and my hand found a rhythm. Kurt circled a few versions, and one became our logo. As we kept working, the conversations moved beyond design to what I wanted Ritual to stand for: staying small by design, investing early with conviction, and helping founders with the things we’re good at, particularly storytelling, marketing and recruiting. That means being present when things are hard and knowing when to stay out of the way. The process also brought me back to the name. Rituals have intention behind them, and the best founders I’ve worked with bring that intention to the daily work of building a company. We celebrate launches, financings and IPOs, but those moments usually come from thousands of smaller ones: another customer conversation, another product revision, another call to the candidate who said no. That became the idea at the center of our refreshed brand and new website: Greatness begins with rituals. Kurt’s described the handwritten logo as “practiced into confidence,” which feels like a pretty good description of building a company, too. We started out refreshing the brand and ended up putting clearer words around what Ritual has always stood for. Check out the new site: www.ritualcapital.com

Bryan Chang liked thisBryan Chang liked thisA year ago, I invested in Proximal because I believed they were working on one of the most important bottlenecks in AI: how do you create the environments and data that allow increasingly capable models to keep getting better? They started with software engineering. Today, they announced that the business has grown to more than $200M in annualized revenue, along with a new $15M financing led by General Catalyst at a $300M valuation. But the revenue number, as impressive as it is, isn't actually the most interesting part of the story. The bigger idea behind Proximal is that as AI gets smarter, improving it becomes a different kind of problem. For years, much of the AI data industry has been built around humans labeling, grading and demonstrating tasks for models. That works when humans are clearly better at the task. But what happens as models approach or surpass human performance in more domains? There are fewer people capable of creating problems hard enough to challenge them, and even fewer who can reliably judge whether the answer is right. Proximal believes the answer isn't simply more human labor. It's better software. They are building infrastructure that can take the enormous amount of unstructured experience generated in the real world, including how people and agents actually work, identify where models are weak, turn those weaknesses into new training problems, evaluate the results, and feed what they learn back into the models. It's a feedback loop for intelligence. Coding was a natural place to start because software provides something incredibly valuable: feedback. Code runs or it doesn't. Tests pass or fail. Performance can be measured. Proximal has spent the past year building the infrastructure to turn those signals into better coding agents. Now they're taking that same idea into much larger territory. Imagine AI systems that can iterate on a chip design, search for a new drug, or understand and eventually rewrite the decades-old software running a hospital or power grid. Each domain requires its own way of generating difficult problems, evaluating the results and allowing models to learn from experience. If Proximal can build the infrastructure that makes those feedback loops possible, this becomes much bigger than a coding company. It becomes part of the learning infrastructure underneath increasingly capable AI systems. Congrats Calvin Chen, Navid Pour, Justus Mattern and the entire Proximal team. It's been pretty incredible to watch what you've built in such a short period of time, and I'm excited for Ritual Capital to be along for what comes next. You can read more on the company's blog here: https://lnkd.in/g2ADuQim

Bryan Chang liked thisIn 2018 when my friends all decided to pursue their MBA's, I decided to make crypto my MBA. The bet was simple: that blockchain tech could drive a binary outcome and disrupt the current financial tech stack. So I started building institutional grade infrastructure for tradfi to come on chain. A lot of cycles have happened since then but crypto / digital assets are now a core part of the agenda worldwide. Now that the foundations have been set, I'm looking towards what's next -- and what stands out is building the rails for global financial inclusion. What would it take to bring the next billions of users on-chain? What would it take to unlock the next trillions of assets to those users? I believe BNB Chain is best positioned to become global financial infrastructure and bridge users to capital. I'm thrilled to help lead the next leg of this journey and play a part in driving the freedom of money. Still here. Bryan Chang liked thisBryan Chang liked thisLegora has reached $200M in ARR. $1M to $100M in 18 months. $100M to $200M in six. I've only been here for two months but the numbers are moving so fast I'm already a little numb to it. But what sticks out to me is how we're expanding our TAM even faster than we're growing into our existing one. More than 40% of our Q3 new business is in-house legal teams, a segment that barely registered in our pipeline two years ago. General counsels and legal operations leaders are making deliberate, often company-wide decisions to transform how their teams serve their stakeholders. Even Salesforce, one of the most aggressive developers of agent systems in the world, just chose Legora for their legal team. We've also fully landed in the US, which is now our largest market by revenue. More than half of the AmLaw 50 work with Legora. 130,000 lawyers. 2,100 firms and legal teams. 80+ countries. What I find most meaningful about this milestone is what it represents for the lawyers on the other side of it. The ones we're working with to define the AI first way of working in legal. The ones who are putting the saved hours into growing their business or getting home to their kids for bedtime. To the team that’s gotten us where we are and the customers trusting us: thank you. There’s a lot left to build.

Proud to support Esusu as it enters its next phase of growth with a new $50M Series C fundraise! Wemimo Abbey, Samir Goel and team continue to lead the industry in credit building and economic mobility for millions of renters nationwide. Esusu (Founder Institute San Francisco portfolio company) is setting a new standard for combining economic and societal impact. By helping renters get credit (literally) for paying their rent on time, they are increasing financial access and empowering more people to become homeowners - in fact, they have already empowered over $30BN in new mortgages from renters across their system. I'm especially excited about how they plan to leverage their massive dataset to create even more impact. By making rental payment data a more prominent feature in mortgage underwriting, Esusu will be able to increase the number of people that can buy homes and build generational wealth. This is a truly inspiring company 🙌 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/guUKsGtY
