Thomas Chen shared thisIn 2018 when my friends all decided to pursue their MBA's, I decided to make crypto my MBA. The bet was simple: that blockchain tech could drive a binary outcome and disrupt the current financial tech stack. So I started building institutional grade infrastructure for tradfi to come on chain. A lot of cycles have happened since then but crypto / digital assets are now a core part of the agenda worldwide. Now that the foundations have been set, I'm looking towards what's next -- and what stands out is building the rails for global financial inclusion. What would it take to bring the next billions of users on-chain? What would it take to unlock the next trillions of assets to those users? I believe BNB Chain is best positioned to become global financial infrastructure and bridge users to capital. I'm thrilled to help lead the next leg of this journey and play a part in driving the freedom of money. Still here. Still early.Thomas Chen shared thisBNB Chain is already home to one of the largest user bases in crypto with rapid growth across stablecoins and RWAs. Today, we’re welcoming Thomas Chen as our Chief Business Officer as BNB Chain deepens its focus on institutions, capital and onchain market activity. Thomas brings deep experience across traditional finance and digital assets, with a strong track record building institutional businesses across capital markets, custody, trading and growth. At BNB Chain, his focus is clear: bring more institutions and capital onchain, deepen liquidity, grow volume and strengthen long-term value across the ecosystem. Welcome to BNB Chain, Thomas. Thomas Chen posted thisThe most valuable asset on Earth is a myth about leaving it. I want to examine SpaceX from the frame of a myth, because that's what it is, and that's why it's valued where it is. Myths have existed in every human society and are the original algorithms. They capture our collective beliefs and orient them around a worldview. Greek classics like Prometheus, Pandora, and Icarus all taught us about how the world worked. Unlike logos, the Greek word for plan or reason, which can be falsifiable, myths cannot be disproven because it doesn’t argue...it simply is. You can disprove “Mars colonization will succeed by 2050” but you cannot disprove “humanity’s destiny is to transcend Earth”. There’s no KPI to validate, there’s just an orientation. No matter how much of a classical myth’s narration is unbelievable, it is ultimately inevitable. This is because myths help us understand ourselves in relation to the world against extraordinary circumstances. They both orient and rally us. SpaceX's mission (per S-1) is “to build the systems and technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary, to understand the true nature of the universe, and to extend the light of consciousness to the stars.” It’s not selling you rockets into space, it’s selling you participation in the future of mankind through shareholder equity. I'm not here to argue whether or not SpaceX's $2T is justified. I'm here to argue that fundamentals are dead, long live the myth. What price would you pay for the survival of the human species? Thomas Chen posted thisHow do you build for a user with no eyes, no loyalty, and no tolerance for risk? In a world of AI agents, where they're the main character and first-class user, the agent's north star is its own task success. 1/ No eyes. The agent doesn't care about your branding or UI. It parses fields, not pixels. It trusts the evidence it can ingest, not marketing copy that claims. Anything not machine-readable is invisible to it. 2/ No loyalty. An agent is an EV calculator, picking the best option per unit cost on every call. It has no brand goodwill and it never feels bad. Lose on the data and you lose 100% demand. Agent markets are winner-take-all. 3/ No tolerance for risk. Humans can be persuaded by "could", agents execute on "are". There is no room for potential. An agent trusts evidence because a failed call costs it money. So it treats any unknown as the worst case. Ultimately, an agent is effectively a budget-constrained loop that consumes evidence to optimize a measurable outcome. No eyes, no loyalty, and no tolerance for unpriced risk. Pls comment if you know of any companies building agentic-first infra. #claude #codex #openai #anthropic #gemini #agenticcommerce #ai

Thomas Chen posted thisIf you're actively building agents, you're probably on ClawHub. Or just signed up for your first GitHub account (for my fellow non-technicals). Everyone's speed running trying to figure out what skills to copy into their setup: skill vetters, repos, other people's stacks. Wrong move. Claude can build the skill for you in under five minutes. From scratch. To spec. The real alpha: knowing what you actually need. Keynes called it animal spirits: fear, greed, everyone piling into the same trade because everyone else is. AI has agentic spirits: systematic biases, clustering behavior, over-indexed on consensus. Same fragility existing acoss different domains: In markets you're chasing the herd. In building you're copying the stack. Both are outsourcing your spec to someone else. When the tool can do anything, self-knowledge becomes the bottleneck. So build to spec, but build it to yourself. Short Execution. Long Judgment. #claude #clawhub #openclaw #nanoclaw #anthropic

Thomas Chen posted thisI did a call last week with some frens vibe-clawing, here are Five takeaways: 1. Memory is the moat. Every session reset is a tax on productivity. Context compression is the core problem to solve. We need better persistent memory. 2. Know your tools' jobs. Claude Code executes via Sonnet. Strategizes via Opus. Routes via Telegram. Figure out which tool is best for the job. 3. Draw the diagram first. Ask the agent to draw an ASCII diagram of the architecture before starting to code. This forces clarity, exposes gaps and speeds up everything downstream. 4. The interface is not the engine. Telegram is a UI. Claude Code is the engine. Don't try to vibecode in Telegram. Trust me on this one lol. 5. .md files are easy to copy, workflows are hard. Stop adding more .md files and start building the actual integrated workflow system underneath. #openclaw #nanoclaw #claude #sonnet #opus #telegram

Thomas Chen posted thisThere's a gold rush and the shovels are being heavily subsidized. $200/mo gets you $250k/yr in headcount. Market share > margins right now and this is not going to last forever. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google are losing money on every subscriber: - Claude Max 20x is $200/mo., a 90%+ subsidy on its API equivalent. - ChatGPT Pro is $200/mo., a 90%+ subsidy on its API equivalent. - Gemini Advanced is $20/mo., a 90%+ subsidy on its API equivalent. "Every SaaS company will become an agentic-as-a-service company. Every engineer will carry an annual token budget alongside their salary." - Jensen Huang, GTC Keynote The hottest programming language is English. The person with the right Judgment is the new 100x engineer. Building the right Context Layer is the new battleground. Those who leverage the Subsidy Era to build their Context Layers will have a compounding competitive advantage. The Playbook: 1) Use the Subsidies → $200/mo gets you $250k/yr in headcount 2) Increase your Judgment → learn which questions to ask; execution is free 3) Build your Context Layer → models get replaced. Context Layer doesn't. There's about a 12-18mo window for the subsidies. Arb the compute margin now while they last. ⛏️ #nvidia #jensenhuang #gtc #claude #openai #gemini

Thomas Chen posted thisThe Pentagon didn't blacklist Anthropic for its ethics stance. They did it because the Pentagon wanted to own its Context Layer. The Context Layer is the Memory -> Routing logic -> Guardrails -> Judgment. Anthropic's ethics policy was part of their Context Layer. The Pentagon wanted to override it. Feb 27: Hegseth designates Anthropic a "Supply Chain Risk for National Security" because they refused to remove limits on autonomous weapons and mass domestic surveillance. Feb 27, hours later: OpenAI signs a Pentagon deal. Altman said it was sloppy, rushed, that he had the same concerns as Anthropic. Mar 9: Anthropic sues DoD in two federal courts. 30+ employees from OpenAI & Google DeepMind filed an amicus brief, arguing a blacklist of one AI company for having limits is a threat to every AI company. The coalition the Pentagon tried to prevent formed anyway. One layer down. As AI commodifies execution, the models themselves also become commoditized. Same models. Same compute. Same APIs — for everyone. Which means the war for competitive advantage just moved one layer up. Not which model you use. Not how fast you ship. But what your system knows, refuses, and prioritizes. The new battleground is the Context Layer. Own that layer and you have a moat. Outsource it and you're renting someone else's. Short Execution. Long Judgment. #openclaw #ai #anthropic #openai #sxsw

Thomas Chen liked thisThomas Chen liked thisLDGR Systems is building AI agents to handle every step of property accounting, and we're hiring a Founding Engineer. My co-founder Brian K. and I have spent our careers at high-growth technology companies, primarily in B2B SaaS. I began my career at Palantir Technologies before joining Ironclad and co-founding Finley, which was acquired at the beginning of this year. Brian was a CPA at KPMG before working as a Product Manager at TriNet Zenefits, Meta, and BitGo, which went public last year. We met in graduate school at SAIS and have been friends for 15 years. Property accounting, or accounting for real estate firms, sits at the intersection of two important developments in AI. The first is the AI “capability overhang,” or the broad set of business use cases where AI could be transformative, but hasn’t yet been applied. The second is the use of AI to improve life at home and at work. Property accounting combines both: everyday tasks that can be handled programmatically, yet remain labor-intensive and error-prone. Getting property accounting right is important for both residents and commercial tenants. “Miss an elevator phone invoice,” one property manager told us, “and you might have a resident that is stuck in an elevator longer than they need to be.” Over the past year, we’ve shown that every step of property accounting — from reading and processing invoices to closing the books every month — can be handled accurately, reliably, and transparently with workflows, LLMs, and decision models. Our AI agents are PMS-agnostic and live in production, processing transactions in real time for tens of thousands of apartment units, condos, and offices across the United States. The typical LDGR customer saves 2-3 FTE per use case. As our first hire, you’ll work primarily with Brian to design, deploy, and refine our AI agents. Your work will focus on: 1) prototypes for new use cases and 2) our agent platform, which includes orchestration, connectors, evals, and data infrastructure. If you're interested in learning more, DM or email me at josiah@ldgrsystems.com. Pictured: Me and Brian hanging out in Santa Monica

Come speak to us and spin up your programs in one of these cool destinations! 👉🏻[insert your flag here 😉]Thomas Chen liked thisTogether with Visa, we're bringing stablecoin-enabled credit card programs and 24/7 settlement to over 100 markets, extending our infrastructure beyond Asia and Latin America into EMEA and Africa. As a Visa Principal Issuer Member in Hong Kong and Mexico, Reap handles regulated issuance, compliance and banking relationships, so partners can focus on product and growth. Nearly 99% of stablecoin payments are dollar-denominated. Almost none of the commercial activity behind them is. That's the gap our founder Daren Guo discussed with CoinDesk. Reap is preparing to support a Mexican peso stablecoin across our card, cross-border payment and treasury products, and exploring tokens pegged to the Hong Kong dollar, euro, won and yen — so businesses can manage FX around the clock, without routing everything through USD. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g_GQGvip

Good news for Crypto Assets. The bigger news hasn't landed yet. The SEC proposed Regulation Crypto Assets yesterday with real thresholds, real exemptions, and a safe harbor that lets a token's security status expire once the issuer's promised work is done. For years the answer to "how do I raise on-chain & onshore?" was silence followed by a subpoena. Now there's a path. Credit where it's due. But if you are building in real-world assets, this isn't your rule. A tokenized security is still a security governed by rules drafted for certificates in a vault and intermediaries who charge by the touch. The innovation exemption is the one that moves that. Promised in January. Delayed in May. Delayed again last week. Every month it slips, the most valuable assets in the world like private credit, real estate, private equity stay locked behind structures designed to exclude everyone but institutions.. Tokenization alone doesn't fix that. The rules have to move too.

Thrilled to announce our $15M Seed Round co-led by General Catalyst and Flourish Ventures, alongside Coinbase Ventures, OKX Ventures, Enlight Capital, Sancus Ventures, AME Cloud Ventures, Road Capitals, and Predictive. Ming Jiang and I left Coinbase in 2024 to build CipherOwl because the future of finance will run on-chain and the U.S will lead it. Blockchains are already rewiring payments and markets; stablecoins move trillions on-chain, and asset tokenization is accelerating. After years of running Coinbase data, we learned a simple truth: institutions need provable, interpretable views of on-chain activity to power both humans and agents. That’s the foundation we ship. Together, we’re building the intelligence layer for institutional crypto so compliance, risk, and automation can operate on shared evidence rather than fragmented data. That’s the future we’re working toward. None of this would be possible without the collaboration of our investors, customers, early partners, and team. Thank you for being a part of the CipherOwl Family. If you believe blockchains are the new rails and that humans + AI agents deserve auditable, real-time intelligence, follow CipherOwl and build with us. It is day one, let's get back to work!

Tether has come to Stellar. For a network built from day one to move money across borders, this is one of the most consequential announcements of the year. USDT0 - built on LayerZero's OFT standard and backed 1:1 by Tether - brings a single, unified USDT supply onto Stellar. No wrapped tokens, no isolated liquidity pools. That means instant access to $180B+ in USDT liquidity across every LayerZero-connected chain, settling on Stellar in five seconds for a fraction of a cent. Pair that liquidity with Stellar's existing payment rails - on/off-ramp coverage in 170+ countries, deep anchor presence across Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific - and you get something the industry has talked about for years and rarely delivered: dollar liquidity that actually reaches the places where it's needed most. Live today across Kraken, Fireblocks, Bitget, Ramp Network, SushiSwap, Freighter, Lobstr, Meru, BiLira Kripto, and Kredete, with more integrations coming. Grateful to the teams at USDT0 and LayerZero Labs for building this with us. This is what interoperability is supposed to look like.

Excited to partner with Dotfile on bringing the best of our regulatory, risk, and compliance expertise with their world-class infrastructure. Compliance almost always introduces the greatest amount of friction into user experiences as part of financial services, especially in "rainy day" scenarios. But it doesn't have to be this way. Bastion aims to focus on the best developer experience for our customers, so that integrating with us across issuance, custody, and on & off-ramp becomes as seamless as any other world class SaaS product, all while we handle compliance end-to-end. Dotfile is an important partner on this journey as they propose tools that make automating compliance flows easy, and greatly reduces the friction of handling KYC, Requests for Information, and more. More to come soon!

XRPL has always been for real payments, real settlement, and real institutions. With Doppler Finance, we’re building on that foundation by bringing institutional-grade RWAs to XRPL and creating new yield opportunities for RLUSD holders. As Ripple continues to develop into a serious financial infrastructure, we’ll build alongside it and deliver compliant real-world assets that can operate at scale.

Samantha Lewis makes a point about why founder-CEOs tend to step away as the company scales: they add more value innovating than managing, and AI could let them stay at the helm longer by absorbing the operational drag. I'd push it further. That exit pattern exists because operations have historically meant managing people who execute tasks. As AI moves into the loop, running a company starts to look more like designing systems that execute tasks. That is much closer to product thinking, which is the part of the job most founders actually want to be doing. The CEOs who stay at the helm through this shift will be the ones operating at the systems-design level. The role used to be something founders were supposed to grow out of. The next version of it might be the one they grow into.
