Financial literacy isn't just a spreadsheet problem, it's a human one. Stick with me. Most people obsess over £50 decisions and coast on £100,000 ones. Should I buy the trainers? Is this coffee habit too expensive? Can I justify the Uber? Meanwhile, nobody's applying that same energy to the decisions that actually shape your life: * Who you marry and build a life with. * The manager you hand five years of your career to. * Where you put your money for the next twenty years. * Where you choose to live and grow roots. These are the decisions worth hundreds of thousands, but some of us will spend more time deliberating over a jacket than choosing the manager who'll shape our entire career trajectory. Ramit Sethi calls this focusing on your "big wins." He's right. Get the big decisions right and the small ones stop mattering as much. Get them wrong and no amount of skipped lattes will save you. Stop optimising your coffee order. Start optimising your life. And as always, stay sharp 😎

And the founder David Holz got there by doing the exact opposite of what the AI industry expected. ▶️ 1. He refused to take investor money Holz had already raised $94 million at his previous company. But it sold for only $30 million. He walked away exhausted and decided: no venture capital this time. No board telling him to grow faster. No pressure to hire aggressively. No obligation to chase metrics. ▶️ 2. He charged users from day 1 instead of offering a free tier Most AI companies burn investor cash subsidising free users and figure out monetisation later. Holz couldn't do that without VC money. So he focused on delivering value with a $10 basic plan. ▶️ 3. He launched on Discord instead of building his own platform Discord gave a bootstrapped team everything they couldn't afford to build: user authentication, payments, mobile apps. All for free. And because images were shared in public channels, users could see what others were creating. This helped the community grow to 21 million members without spending a dollar on marketing. ▶️ 4. He stayed small until the big companies had no choice but to notice In 2025, Meta had its own image generation tools. But they weren't good enough. So they licensed Midjourney's technology for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp instead. No equity given. Holz kept the company and took the money. The industry said you need investors, a free tier, your own platform, and a big team. Holz said no to all of it… And built the most capital efficient AI company in history anyway. #Entrepreneurship #AI #EnterpriseAI
