In 2025 alone, AI attracted €4bn in funding, making it 4× larger than the next two categories combined: BioTech & HealthTech. France (and Europe) has always been known for deep technical talent. What feels different now is the mindset shift. We’re seeing a new generation of founders pairing world-class engineering with real ambition, building AI companies designed to scale globally from day one. At Notion Capital, we’ve been consistently bullish on the French market, and it’s great to see that conviction reinforced by the data. We’re lucky to work with some outstanding teams coming out of France, including Naboo, Upciti, Orus and Forest Admin, among others, and we continue to see strong momentum across the ecosystem. 🙌 Go, French founders! I am excited to see what the new breakthrough companies coming out of this ecosystem will be 🇫🇷 Maxime Eduardo, Antoine Servant, Jean-Louis Villeminot, Lucien Bredin, Maxence Bruyas, Nicolas Devillard, Xavier Gastaud, Tom Le Bras, Samuel Rossille, Côme Dartiguenave, Boris Golden, Ben Marrel, Noé Gersanois, Roxanne VARZA, Alison Imbert, Bruno Raillard, Henri Tilloy #FrenchTech #Startup #AI #Funding #VC

Lea Bajc a republié ceciLea Bajc a republié ceciThe PRODUCT-LED SUCCESS report is here 🚀 For many years, I have believed that the only way to win with a SaaS product today is by providing users with the best UX in the market - bringing "consumer-like experiences to business". This belief is still true to me. As a next step, in 2003, together with my colleagues Andreas Panayiotou and George Windsor we wrote a white paper on how SaaS should take a product-first philosophy to customer success. We believed there was an over reliance on people (mainly Customer Success), resulting in low margins and poor user experiences by not keeping complexity under control. Earlier this year, we spoke to companies about the relationship between Product and CS - how do we prioritise or balance these two teams? And now our report is LIVE: ⭐️Product-Led Success Report 2024 - How Customer Success and Product Teams are Working Together to Delight Customers through a product-first Approach⭐️ → Download the report here: https://lnkd.in/eDnKq46S What can you find on this report? 1) How effectively is Product and Customer Success collaborating across SaaS? 2) Does Customer Success feedback provided to Product drive impact for customers? 3) Are the two functions agreed on how to measure ‘customer success’? 4) Is Product focused on removing complexity as much as launching new features? 5) How are tools being used to facilitate cross-functional collaboration? Lea Bajc a aimé ceciLea Bajc a aimé ceciA recent claim suggests that kimchi may help the body bind to and remove certain microplastics before they accumulate in organs. It’s an intriguing idea but it’s also a reminder to look beyond headlines. Research on microplastics, gut health, and fermented foods is still developing, and findings from laboratory or animal studies don’t automatically prove the same effect in humans. What we do know is that kimchi contains beneficial microbes, fiber, and plant compounds that can support a diverse diet. So enjoy it for what it is: a flavorful, nutrient-rich fermented food, not a “detox” cure. The bigger takeaway? We need more rigorous human research to understand how microplastics interact with our bodies and whether specific foods can meaningfully reduce exposure or retention. Until then: 🥦 Eat a varied, fiber-rich diet. 🥦 Choose minimally processed foods where practical. 🥦 Reduce unnecessary plastic use, especially with heat. 🥦 Treat bold health claims with healthy skepticism. Good science is worth waiting for and sharing responsibly. #Nutrition #GutHealth #Kimchi #Microplastics #HealthScience #EvidenceBasedHealth #Wellness

Lea Bajc a aimé ceciLea Bajc a aimé ceci"Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome." Hey LinkedIn, I love this quote by Berkshire Hathaway icon Charlie Munger. And I've been thinking about it quite a bit recently with regard to Anthropic's aggressive move into drug discovery. When I was on a VC, there was a period where I would see a pitch every month or two from a startup tackling drug discovery. The concepts often sounded promising - and unproven. It was hard to parse what was likely to work and I didn't invest at the time. Fast forward and the better part of a decade later AI-driven drug discovery still hasn't lived up to its potential. But something new is happening. Anthropic, with an huge bankroll and exceptional engineering talent, is tackling the problem. And they're serious about it: they're launching specialized AI workbench tools, acquired a biotech startup, are setting up a physical wet lab, and initiating their own drug discovery program. They are building an AI-driven pharma company. That's pretty awesome. That news - plus all VC financing pouring into drug discovery now that Anthropic has made it cool again - increases the chance that we'll finally start seeing real results and changing people's lives. But.. At the same time that Anthropic is making this leap into pharma, a number of pharma companies are also jumping into bed with Anthropic, which is effectively now their competitor. They're having their teams put their data into a company with an enormous incentive to learn from that data and put it to use in a competitive context. There are at least three forces at work here. First, the power of social proof: pharma companies see other pharma companies doing it and think it's safe. Second, related to the first, Anthropic and ChatGPT have reached the "You don't get fired for buying IBM" level of safety. (ie pharma buyers know they won't lose their job for buying it.) 3) A number of pharma companies will want to try to build their own AI platform - at least until they remember that software development is not their core competency. This is super risky. Yes, I'm sure that Anthropic is guaranteeing they won't train their models on their customers' data. But remember: "Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome." Here's an analogous situation..Amazon created a marketplace with the value prop to sellers that Amazon would bring them customers if they joined. Well, sellers did so - and Amazon had a tremendous incentive to learn from them and compete. And that's exactly what happened. They watched - and then they cherrypicked the bestselling products on the marketplace, copied them and undercut them. To be clear, there's nothing wrong with using AI. It's become a necessity. But there is a problem with using AI that's built by a company that has a strong incentive to learn your secrets because they intend to compete against you. I don't think this will play out well for pharma companies over the next decade. My 2 cents for the day.

Lea Bajc a aimé ceciIf you want to understand why we couldn’t be more excited to be investors in Flow Engineering, Pari Singh puts it better than we ever could in their Series B memo (https://lnkd.in/eJBp2sch). Congratulations to Pari and the whole team - which you should absolutely consider joining. They’re hiring (well, duh) and I suspect they will be for a while.Lea Bajc a aimé ceciFlow has raised a $50M Series B at a $750M valuation, co-led by Antonio Gracias (Valor) and Gavin Baker (Atreides) with Sequoia Capital, Roelof Botha (SpaceX, Block), and more. AI has transformed software engineering. Hardware engineering is next. When I became a mechanical engineer, I wanted to invent. In reality, 90% of the day to day execution work (CAD, excel, sim) was digital manual labour. That’s about to flip. The engineer’s role will change more profoundly than at any point since the invention of CAD, with humans focusing on invention, architecture, tradeoffs and judgement calls, and agents taking the grunt work. Anduril, Joby, Stoke Space, Rivian & many more - Flow is now the default platform for requirements and verification for frontier hardware teams. But it’s not just next-gen anymore. Industry giants including General Motors PPU and Volkswagen & Rivian’s joint venture (RV Tech) are reshaping their core development practices with Flow’s AI. Our secret weapon is our culture. We have modeled it on the Skunkworks philosophy. Teams are (insanely) tight and elite, ownership lies with the engineers closest to the work, and we talk to our users daily. We’re deeply grateful that we get to work directly on the most important programs today, and accelerate the invention of reusable rockets, surgical robots, nuclear reactors, and autonomous vehicles. The revolution is just starting. Models are quickly getting better at CAD, analysis, simulation, and tool use. In the next year, AI will move from integrating the work to doing the work. One day, this shift won't just enable us to iterate faster, it will enable us to design a class of products that we could not have dreamt of before. We’re hiring.

Lea Bajc a aimé ceciLea Bajc a aimé ceciIn 2019, I became Executive Assistant to Magnus Grimeland, CEO of Antler. Then COVID hit. Between the pace of work and stress at home, I burned out. I was sleeping 3–4 hours a night, exhausted all the time, and I put on 30kg. What turned it around wasn't a motivational quote. It was watching the person I worked alongside every day. Magnus was flying constantly, running a global company, showing up for his family, and still training for triathlons. He didn't have more hours in the day than I did. He had just decided his health wasn't negotiable. So I made a decision too. I stepped away from relationships that were draining me and I joined a fitness bootcamp in Beijing for three months, all while working remotely and supporting Magnus full-time. Those three months kickstarted something that stuck. I kept eating better, kept working out, and my sleep improved dramatically. Today, I've lost 35kg, more than I gained during those hardest years. The biggest lesson? You don't need a quieter life to take care of yourself. You need to decide it matters, and then protect it like any other priority on the calendar. I'm so grateful to Magnus, not just for the example he set, but for being genuinely supportive every step of the way. Having a leader who backs you makes all the difference. If you're running on empty right now, this is your sign that change is possible, even when life is at its busiest.

“Lea is one of the smartest entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley and hands down one of the most effective executives in any Boardroom. Lea's first lesson she taught me is that nobody works for her, we all worked WITH her as a team. I gained more confidence and professional experience working with Lea for a short time, than I've had working "for" managers over the years. Lea's ability to navigate the world of venture capital, client proposals and internal meetings never once took away from her personal interest in each member of our team. During the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, I called Lea again for guidance and she took my call and assured me that our conversation was the most important she was having. There has never been a moment since we met that wherever in the world she was, I could not call for help or guidance (I still do).”

The next generation of technology champions can be built in Europe. My partners, Victor Englesson, Ted Persson, Sandra Malmberg 👋, and I pulled together a few thoughts on why (and how) in a new white paper below! A few highlights: → Europe has a flourishing startup ecosystem, but loses too many companies as they scale. Early stage deal volume in Europe has grown ~4x over the past decade, and today’s European founders are more ambitious than ever. They know what “great” looks like at a global level, and they want to build enduring, category-defining businesses. Yet for too many founders, that path has not been in Europe. We estimate that between 2008 - 2021, close to 30% of the unicorns founded in Europe relocated their headquarters abroad, primarily to the US. → The current technology environment presents an opportunity to reset the board: Critical technologies including AI, energy and biotech, are all undergoing rapid change, creating opportunities for new champions to emerge alongside those from the internet and cloud eras. These strategic technologies align well with Europe’s incumbent strengths in areas like fundamental technology research, clean energy, and manufacturing. → Europe’s large corporates and policymakers have a role to play - and must act now: We’re encouraged by the recent momentum behind EU–INC to establish a pan-European corporate entity. Europe’s largest corporations and public procurement arms can work more nimbly with capital-intense deeptech startups, to help bridge the “valley of death” between R&D and commercialization. And initiatives like European Tech Champions and the proposed Scaleup Europe Fund will attract needed capital to Europe’s most promising companies at the scaleup phase. In our paper, we identify over 650 promising European scale-ups building in today’s most strategic technology sectors, including AI, robotics and energy, and we expect this figure to rise to 1,900 by 2030. If you're building in these markets, please reach out!

Verb Ventures was built to back platforms that bring transparency to opaque markets global trade relies on. Aviation aftermarket is a perfect case — airlines spend $40B on parts yearly while carrying $50B in excess inventory with zero centralised visibility. What convinced us on SkySelect wasn't the tech alone — it was the customer pull. The status quo is failing airlines, and adoption is accelerating. Proud to co-lead alongside RockCreek!

Great encapsulation of what we do: "The method is clear. Tekcapital sources promising IP — often at an early stage — from leading research institutions. It then forms and capitalises operating companies (frequently as majority-owned subsidiaries), recruits specialist management, underpins go-to-market strategy and governance, and targets value realisation through listings in the US and UK. Crucially, this model is not “research for research’s sake”: it is anchored in technologies that improve everyday life, from healthier food to safer mobility and better digital tools." #technology #investing https://lnkd.in/eUQyAG8p

Good piece from Yu Sun at the Financial Times on the recovery in private equity fundraising — and the selectivity and high bar that still defines the market for LPs. I appreciated the opportunity to contribute our perspective. For us at Wingman Growth Partners, that backdrop reinforces what we are excited about: partnering with founders and CEOs of well-run, growing software, fintech, and data businesses and helping compound what is already working. Worth a read: https://lnkd.in/ggrRvvas

I wonder if… Luxera Capital Partners’ €520 million Growth II close reflects a broader institutional conviction that European HealthTech can scale globally when paired with transatlantic commercial support. Exceeding the €500 million hard cap, nearly doubling Fund I, and expanding the LP base across DACH, the Nordics, Latin America, and the U.S. suggests the market is still rewarding specialist managers with clear sector focus and international value-creation capabilities. #PrivateEquity #HealthTech #GrowthEquity

Congrats to the team at Loft Orbital on the $1B program with Marlan Space to build the world’s largest AI satellite infrastructure. The 50-satellite constellation will combine multiple types of sensors with onboard AI, allowing satellites to analyze what they see in orbit and deliver insights in seconds. Processing happens in real time, in space, without waiting for raw data to be downloaded and analyzed on Earth. That matters because the time between observing something and acting on it can determine the outcome. Detecting a wildfire, identifying a vessel in distress, or spotting a threat to national security or critical infrastructure becomes far more useful when the information reaches people while they can still intervene. Bringing that capability at this scale is a major leap forward. Customers will also be able to deploy AI applications in space without building and operating their own satellites. Loft is making that capability accessible on shared infrastructure. We’re proud to be investors in Loft and to see the team’s years of work translate into a program of this scale!

Software is evolving to listen, speak, and act in real time – and that shift demands an entirely new kind of infrastructure. That’s why I’m so excited Index is leading LiveKit's $100M Series C. As AI models get more capable, interaction is moving beyond clicks and screens toward voice, video, and stateful systems that operate continuously. Powering that transition requires globally reliable, ultra-low-latency infrastructure — one of the hardest problems in modern networking and distributed systems. LiveKit is building exactly that. The platform makes real-time voice and video workloads reliable at a global scale, while remaining deeply developer-first. It’s been incredible to watch more than 100,000 builders and teams adopt LiveKit bottom-up, with usage spanning everything from AI labs to large enterprises. What ultimately convinced us, though, was the team. Russ d'Sa and David Zhao bring rare systems depth paired with exceptional product instinct. They’ve worked together for nearly two decades, have deep trust, and are clear-eyed about what it takes to build an enduring infrastructure company – the kind that defines a category. We believe LiveKit is becoming a foundational layer in the AI stack, and we’re excited to partner with Russ, DZ, and the entire LiveKit team as they build the future of real-time applications. I shared some insights on our investment in a new blog – check it out via the link in comments. https://lnkd.in/exiHWGS2

Thanks to EU-Startups for featuring my latest article. Europe’s AI power challenge is not only about building more generation and grid capacity. It is also about getting more out of the infrastructure we already have. Across the grid, facility, compute and software layers, a new generation of companies is using software to unlock capacity that is currently underutilised. The interesting opportunity is at the interfaces between these layers, where better coordination can make the entire system more efficient. New infrastructure will be essential. But we should not wait years for it to come online before making better use of what is already connected. Read the full article below 👇
