I’ve posted on here for a long time sharing my experiences and, of course, promoting my products and services at ROCOL Lubricants.
That’s not going to stop.
But I’ve made a conscious decision to talk more about fluids, CNC machines and the challenges we actually experience in the real world.
Why?
Well, today I spent time writing two pages for an end user explaining why a fluid can foam — and why, in many cases, it doesn’t necessarily matter whose product you’re using.
To a degree, anyway!
Some fluids are definitely better than others, but I’ll let you work that one out for yourselves. 😉
The reality is that there are so many factors involved when it comes to metalworking fluids, CNC machines, concentration, contamination, tramp oil, machine condition, filtration, aeration, application and the way the fluid is being managed, and of course equipment to support fluids.
Sometimes the answer is simply “clean the machine and replenish the fluid.” PLEASE 🙏
That might be a common theme going forward. Every single coolant service or sales engineer will know exactly what I’m talking about.
And if I’m going to spend my time explaining this stuff to individual customers, then why not share some of that knowledge more widely?
No, I’m not going to post the full two pages!
But when I get to a sump with foam, I’ll share some of what I’m seeing, what I’m thinking about, and how I approach the problem.
Hopefully it helps someone.
And if it starts a conversation with people who work with CNC machines and metalworking fluids every day, even better. I’d be delighted if other coolant people chip in I’m sure there are people who have forgot more than I know so yea open forum.
More fluids. More machines. More real-world problems. Less sales pitch.
I must say anything I post is on my personal page and does not directly represent ROCOl or their advice this is Ian Fenney and contributors views and ideas.
Let’s see where it goes.
