Pete Steger reposted thisPete Steger reposted thisOur team is thrilled to share the second volume of Fried Egg Golf's course profiles book, which is available for preorder until Sept. 2! This edition gives a sense of what we prioritize in our golf course coverage. Yes, we hit some top 100s: you'll find in-depth explorations of Oakmont, North Berwick, Fishers Island, Royal St. George's, and Pinehurst No. 2. But you will also read about Wild Horse and St. Andrews Beach, two of the best courses in the world anyone can play for less than $100 USD. The world of great golf is much bigger than any list or coffee-table book, but we hope what's featured in these pages give a hint of what we love and what we're still seeking. https://lnkd.in/gf6zvV5b

There were no shortcuts because I knew this flavor had to be perfect. I am beyond ecstatic that the Startup CPG team loved the flavor and it resonated. Thank you Daniel Scharff , Patricia Menegoto, Caitlin B. , Alex Nguyen and the rest of the team for challenging your taste buds with thousands of products and picking TUYYO FOODS as a standout 🥰 Congratulations to all the winners!! and special shoutout to my amigas Cynthia Duran with Xinca Foods and Victoria Reyes at Narra for your wins 🤩

Pete Steger liked thisPete Steger liked thisToday I’m joining Interchange as Chief Revenue Officer. On paper, moving from product leadership into a revenue role might look like a change in direction. To me, it feels like the pieces coming together. I started my career building partnerships at companies like PayPal, Simple Finance, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, and JPMorganChase. Then I became a founder and built Joust, a banking platform for freelancers that was acquired by ZenBusiness. Since then, I’ve led banking, payments, cards, and treasury products at Nav Technologies, Inc., Mercury, and Coastal. I’ve now seen financial infrastructure from nearly every side of the table: founder, product leader, bank partner, operator, and buyer. The common thread has always been the same: How do we make complicated financial infrastructure disappear so companies can build products customers actually want to use? I was also drawn to the opportunity to work with Michael Giles and a team that sees where this market is going. That’s what brought me to Interchange. I believe investing, trading, and cash management are about to become embedded in far more products and experiences. But the infrastructure underneath them still has a long way to go. Interchange is tackling that problem, and I’m excited to help build the company, work directly with customers, and bring a product operator’s perspective to revenue. New role. Familiar mission. Let’s go.

Pete Steger liked thisPete Steger liked thisLanding My Career Plane: After nearly 29 years in the #Microsoft ecosystem and more than 23 years within the #IAMCP community, I've decided it's time to begin my final descent and officially land my career plane. Thankfully, this landing is voluntary. No emergency procedures have been activated, no oxygen masks have dropped, and the tower has cleared me for arrival. Looking back, one of the most memorable flights of my career began in July 2002, when #RandyChatman, #KevinNickell, #JohnMeyer, and I launched VantagePoint Partners (VPP). It was a leap of faith that became one of the most rewarding adventures of my professional life. Adding #AaronCampbell to the team several years later only strengthened the flight crew. Of course, every pilot learns from those who came before him. Early opportunities at Standard Oil of Indiana (now BP Amoco) and AT&T, along with the support of my personal "George Bailey," #EvanJones (Knox '71'), helped chart my course. But perhaps my greatest education came from spending nearly a decade working alongside my father at CMA-Chicago. Much of what I know about business, salesmanship, relationships, and integrity came from watching him every day. Without his guidance, I'm not sure there would ever have been a VPP. Another major source of lift throughout my journey was IAMCP. The relationships, friendships, and opportunities it provided — from Chicagoland to Redmond, and around the world — were priceless. There are far too many people to thank individually, but you know who you are. Most importantly, none of this would have been possible without my family, especially my wife. As we approach our 43rd wedding anniversary, I'm reminded that the best decision I ever made was asking her to say "YES" back on Halloween in 1982. With her recent retirement, we're looking forward to spending more time with our four children, their spouses, and our five wonderful grandchildren. As my dad used to say: · "If they knew grandkids were this much fun, they would have had them first." And as my mother-in-law often reminded us: · "We're not lucky, we're blessed." Now, for the first time in decades, the flight plan is wonderfully flexible. While this plane may be touching down, I'm not disappearing from the radar. My email still works, and I'm always happy to connect people whenever and wherever I can. Just understand that response times may be a little slower these days — for all the obvious reasons. 😊 Thank you to everyone who shared part of this journey. The seatbelt sign is off. The plane is at the gate. And I'm looking forward to whatever destination comes next. #Retirement #Microsoft #IAMCP #Entrepreneurship #Leadership #Gratitude #VantagePointPartners #NextChapter #Blessed #EvanJones #RandyChatman, #KevinNickell, #JohnMeyer #AaronCampbell

More teams are starting to buy or control their own regional sports networks. On paper it’s a smart move because it gives the team control over distribution, advertising, sponsorships, and streaming revenue. But the model only works if you can sell against the inventory. Owning the network means owning all the ad slots, integrations, and sponsorship opportunities. If you have the sales engine to monetize it, the upside is huge. If not, you’ve just taken on the cost of running a network. In today’s sports media world, distribution matters — but sales is what makes the model work. https://lnkd.in/e8rAgxei

💲 Recent Major Investment in Youth Sports Tech via Youth Sports Business Report GTCR, a leading PE firm managing ~$50B, just announced a partnership with former Match Group executive Gary Swidler to launch Ascent Sports Group—a new platform tackling the fragmented youth sports technology landscape. The Problem: Parents and athletes currently juggle multiple disconnected platforms to watch games, track stats, communicate with teams, and stay connected to their sports communities. The Solution: Ascent Sports Group will invest in and build integrated products connecting athletes, families, coaches, leagues, and venue owners into a unified experience. Why This Matters • The youth sports market represents a massive, underserved opportunity • Swidler brings proven expertise scaling consumer tech platforms (Match Group reached ~100M monthly active users under his leadership) • This signals growing institutional interest in consolidating youth sports tech infrastructure With GTCR's capital backing and Swidler's track record in building product-led consumer businesses, Ascent Sports Group could reshape how the youth sports ecosystem operates. Will be watching this space closely. What are your thoughts on consolidation in youth sports technology? #YouthSports #SportsInnovation #SportsTech #PrivateEquity #EdTech https://lnkd.in/gECrxqVP

In this 45-minute conversation, we discuss: Leveraging Local Advantages to Create Outsized Value East Carolina benefits from a unique local advantage, MrBeast's Greenville roots. Proximity to one of the world’s largest creators enables the school to generate meaningful incremental revenue and the relationship creates broader economic benefits for the surrounding community. MrBeast “[recently] rented our football stadium for 50 days [to stage Beast Games]. [His company] rented our residence halls. They partnered with Aramark to cater the meals. They had 300, 400 people here from all over the country working. The hotels were full. You couldn't get a rental car in town…So, we [generated] a lot of income institutionally, but [the city] has benefited [too],” Gilbert said. However, the value extends beyond the financial windfall. The creator’s enormous audience gives ECU a platform that the university could never replicate through paid marketing. “We recently just did one [video with him] … They wanted one of our cheerleaders in uniform, and all they would tell us was that person [would] be chained to another individual for a period of time [and the prize would be $250,000] ... I looked this morning, [the video] already has 67 million views,” Gilbert said. “There's [another] video where MrBeast races Usain Bolt on our track. [It has] ~70 million views. [So], we get the rental income from [the relationship], but we're also getting visibility that quite frankly, we couldn't afford to pay for.” Turning Affinity into Recurring Income Like every other school, ECU is actively working to create new revenue streams capable of helping to fund athlete revenue sharing. But its efforts extend beyond the usual playbook. One concept in development is a credit-linked loyalty program designed to turn supporters’ everyday spending into recurring revenue. “If you look at athletic departments and what is the next frontier that's out there that we could all benefit from, it is the spending power of our fan bases,” Gilbert said. “So, we are close to launching [a] credit card [that will] have our logo on [it] and we [will be paid a] royalty for that logo. But we [will] also create an affinity portion of [the program] where much like Marriott Hotels Rewards or Delta Air Lines rewards, [the user is] going to get benefits from ECU Athletics [when spending]. It could be an experience on the very high end, it could be once you reach a certain threshold, you're going to get a hat or access to some student athletes or coaches… We will be one of, if not the first institution, to launch [a payment linked loyalty program] and the investment part on the back end is really important because… both the investors and the school are going to benefit [by participating] in a higher percentage of that 2% to 3% credit card fee.” Link to📺watch the full video in comments. #CollegeSports #Sports #Media #Finance #Strategy #ActionableIntelligence cc: JohnWallStreet
