Perry The Inventor DotCom shared thisSYNO Challenge Progress Update. If you saw my previous post, you know I run a unique challenge each month. This month's challenge is the SYNO Challenge. This challenge is about sticking your neck out and doing something you may publicly fail at. But will be worth it if you succeed. Here is a private update I decided, in the spirit of the challenge, to post here. <SYNO CHALLENGE UPDATE> My weekly task hasn’t changed. My daily tasks haven’t changed either. Simple To-Dos have taken up way too much time. And there’s a ramp-up cost to experimenting, with the goal of saving time, that’s a pure gamble. What does that mean? I’ve made what seems to be little progress, but I’m still on track and on schedule. How? My gamble paid off. While selecting, testing, and setting up software that might work, to create dozens of samples to see if it did work, I burned up most of the week. But my idea did work! And the performance increase was significant. Ultimately, once setup, I completed weeks of work in just a few hours. And now I’m in a position to do the actual work. AI is amazing when you know what to do with it. My big, freaky goal today is to create the first production version of the product and order my production samples. Barring any unforeseen issues, I should hit the goal. I’ve also been working on two additional sets tracks to increase my productivity and make my life better. How? I've categorize habits into two distinct types: Hab-Dos (Habits you do) Hab-Don’ts (Habits you don’t do) My Hab-Dos include... Daily Exercise, Reading, AI Experimenting, and following a low-carb diet. My Hab-Don’ts include... Stopping Daily Doom Scrolling. This has been a great boon for me. In addition to saving time, I’m also free from algorithms sapping my attention. I've seen you experience a multiplier effect too. You feel good about what you’re doing while maintaining your focus on what matters. There’s also less overwhelm with this time management system I developing. How do I know? I am simultaneously using the system while I'm actively building it. I’m using the very early prototype I made on day one. It looks like cave drawings compared to what I am building now but the effect on me is massive. It tempers the rabbit-hole effect. And my brain has less of a cognitive load so I can better focus on what's most important to me. I’m excited. Seriously, the passion is palpable! And often, it’s triggered by things that seem small – a news headline, a social media post, even something happening to someone else. Why do we let these things get to us so much? I've noticed a pattern: when I ask them what's going right in their lives, the fire starts to fade. Their shoulders relax, their expression softens… it’s like a switch flips. They realize they’ve been overlooking all the good simply by focusing on the negative. We become our own worst enemies when we let those inner voices run wild – fueled by negativity, past traumas, and the constant barrage of information. It’s a recipe for self-criticism and unnecessary suffering. Look, bad things do happen. But dwelling on them doesn't fix anything. It just amplifies the pain and burns everyone around you. Is that really what you want? I’ve been through my share of tough times (we all have!). What I learned is this: finding something to laugh about – even in the darkest moments – isn’t about dismissing the pain; it's about gaining perspective. It’s about choosing a different way to handle hardship. So here's my challenge for you today: Pause. Take a moment to acknowledge the good things in your life – big or small. The brilliant idea hits, and you think: “I've cracked it!” 🎉 I felt exactly like that when I started building my ColorCutter(R). My first prototype? Built in under 15 minutes from junk drawer scraps! It… worked! 😉 But here’s the truth: That initial spark is often just the beginning. It's low-hanging fruit, a proof of concept, not the final masterpiece. I was so excited, I almost stopped there. But pushing past that first idea led me on a wild ride – learning about inks, production, and facing a chorus of "This won’t work from the 'Experts'!" 😅 My team and I spent weeks literally hand-cutting blades using Dremels. Backbreaking! We thought we were being clever, trying to adapt a key grinding machine… epic fail! Then came the realization: Real production would cost $10K upfront. Ouch! So I dug deeper, found a laser cutting company specializing in aerospace… and for just a few hundred dollars, we had a breakthrough. 🚀 That first idea got me started, but it was far from my best. It taught me some crucial lessons: 💡 First ideas are rarely THE idea. Keep exploring! 💪 Don't be afraid to pivot and iterate. "Won’t work?" Joel Sumner very true Joel Sumner. The smallest detail can often make the largest difference. We once had a maucaturing facility was wasn't profittable because of the order of assembly. We swapped the order of two operations and boom, profitable, the angels sang! I keep watching the attached video and wonder what the non-winning side could have changed to win. So close. So close! One moment, he is pushing it in a wheelbarrow. Next, he is holding it in his hands. Then he appears to be sliding it into his car. Before anyone calls NASA, the Moon is still 238,855 miles away. Antoniol used forced perspective, carefully lining up the camera, himself, his car, and the rising Moon to make it look close enough to pick up. No special effects. No lunar getaway car. I'm a product designer turned healthcare entrepreneur, focused about making care accessible by through the fusion of design, technology, and clinical care.<br><br>My journey began as a design consultant for global brands including Nike, TaylorMade, Ethicon, Stryker, Coca-Cola, and GE. During this time, I was honored with over 40 international health and design awards, including winning Best in Show twice at the International Design Excellence Awards in 2007 and 2016.<br><br>My entrepreneurial path started with my senior thesis in design school after observing a man in a wheelchair struggle to exercise at a gym. This inspired a concept for inclusive fitness equipment, which received international recognition and launched a 12-year journey of R&D. In 2018, we launched IncludeHealth and commericalized a digitized, inclusive strength trainer called The Access Strength, integrating it into physical therapy clinics nationwide.<br><br>In an effort to expand our platform beyond machines, we expanded into computer vision in partnership with Cincinnati Children's Hospital in 2019. The onset of COVID-19 prompted us to fully pivot from physical equipment to computer vision technology, aiming to deliver therapy directly into patients' homes. We launched this technology, initially device-specific, in late 2020 through collaboration with the US Air Force.<br><br>In 2021, we partnered with Google to advance our computer vision models, enabling accurate, browser-based, scalable physical therapy solutions on any device. Featured at Google’s 2021 I/O conference, our technology was applied towards hybrid care models through remote therapeutic monitoring, working with leading health systems and physical therapy networks.<br><br>In 2024, seeing even greater potential, we transitioned into a full virtual physical therapy practice, directly treating patients with our own clinical team. Today, as Founder & CEO of LainaHealth, our advanced WebAI assistant, Laina, supercharges our physical therapists, significantly enhancing accessibility, affordability, and personalization in musculoskeletal care. Our care model has validated measurable outcomes, demonstrating a 65% average pain reduction, doubling patient engagement, and delivering care at less than half the cost of traditional physical therapy.<br><br>Through LainaHealth, we're committed to leading the future of integrated care delivery—making it accessible anytime, anywhere, and truly patient-centered.
