Leonard Lee posted thisMaybe more than a fear of artificial intelligence, we should fear the decline of human and societal intelligence, and even organizational intelligence (the attention-less organization). This is what concerns me much more these days, and increasingly so as the days go by. What about you? Leonard Lee shared thisTrust is and will continue to be the opportunity for telecom operators going forward as sovereign custodians of communications. Why? It turns out that the new generation of Russian-made Geran-4 drones have been piggybacking off of mobile networks that they transverse, literally roaming and providing remote operation and real-time tracking for precision attacks. These are the poor man's cruise missile riding on friendly and enemy cellular networks. This bit by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty tears down the various systems of this jet-powered drone revealing that multiple SIM cards are used to roam on top of Russian, Ukrainian, and NATO networks. Maybe there should be a trust network API for that? I'm not sure how well an ISAC-capable 5G network is in identifying and tracking a drone traveling at 350mph, but a combination of drone detection, position/location tracking, and number verification or some other verification method might be a way to ID and kick a free riding enemy drone off a friendly network. I'm spitballing, but this looks like a problem looking for a solution. What do you think? Leonard Lee shared thisHybrid AI and Edge AI are all the rage these days. Coming out of The Things Conference 2026, which took place in Amsterdam, the EDGE AI FOUNDATION made its presence as the topic of AI diffusion across the edge meets IoT. I was talking about Edge AI and Hybrid AI computing models well before 2023 when I recorded this episode of the Cutting Edge. A column I had at Cloud Wars at the breakout of ChatGPT and the waning of the metaverse. WATCH HERE! 👉 https://lnkd.in/eV5W3K-H Yes, verify first, trust later. Leonard Lee shared thisI was just talking about world models and physical AI this morning. Now this. AMD is acquiring World Labs founded by Fei-Fei Li. It’s a bet in the other frontier of AI, world understanding. It’s a bit of a pivot on the LLM driven mayhem and a dependency of physical AI scalability. Looking forward to an analyst briefing on this by AMD. Stay tune to neXt Curve for insights and analysis that matter.

Leonard Lee shared thisFor a long while, there was a lot of talk about how the smartphone was dead and had seen its time. What is the smartphone killer? The Rabbit R1? AR glasses? I was glad to see Qualcomm lean back into the smartphone this year at Snapdragon Summit 2026. For many reasons, I have argued in my neXt Curve research that the smartphone is the refined hub for many ancillary devices including AI pendants, smartwatches, AR/smart glasses (and VR), AI earbuds, etc. Why not? It continues to evolve into an ever more powerful hub, which Qualcomm asserted a few years ago until the hunt for the next big thing beyond the smartphone ensued. Plain and simple. For your smart personal AI-enabled peripherals, the smartphone is the perfect compute and storage offload and aggregation point with PC-class compute and more (all the physical AI stuff). It's also a great secure access point nexus for your trusted AI computing, which I'm glad the industry is starting to talk about. It doesn't hurt that Qualcomm is a pioneer and leader in a wide range of personal wireless communications technologies. Prakash Sangam will be joining me on the neXt Curve Podcast for a no-nonsense recap of #snapdragonsummit 2026. Check us out on YouTube. Link will be provided below.

Leonard Lee shared this#contextualsecurity by Inlayer using network APIs. Turns out that this is the hard problem to solve by telcos. The value frontier for network APIs.Leonard Lee shared thisA Wells Fargo customer in Alabama answered because the number on her screen matched the bank... Then her accounts were wiped down to $13 Per WSFA (Sep 12, 2026), Troy resident Alisha Watford took an incoming call that displayed Wells Fargo and matched the official contact on the bank's site and app. The caller said fraud had been flagged. She shared what they asked for. Shortly after, checking and savings were drained. Wells Fargo later confirmed it was a scam. (WSFA; Daily Hodl Sep 15 amplify) Alabama Securities Commission director Amanda Senn, quoted by WSFA, put the operator failure in plain language: fraudsters can spoof known bank numbers so the screen looks right when the call is wrong. Overseas networks make recovery rare Here is what that means if you sell or terminate U.S. voice STIR/SHAKEN still matters. A clean Robocall Mitigation Database filing still matters But neither answers the question the subscriber needed... Did the owner of that number place this call? The From header was a real bank DID. A lookup of that number returns the bank. Complaint history on that number is often leftover from earlier spoofs. Reputation cannot tell Alisha's call from a real fraud-alert outbound. A provider stamp on the INVITE cannot either. Any originating carrier can sign "A" for any CLI The difference is proof the owner minted for this call, to this callee, not some carrier. A spoofer can present the DID. They cannot mint the assertion That is exactly what CallerAPI can do If that DID is registered and the owner requires proof, and this INVITE has none, the call is spoofed and the action is to drop it. The firewall returns 603 before the handset rings. If the owner announced this exact call, it goes through, branded, even when the same DID is dirty from last week's spoofs So this scam wouldn't have happened if they used a carrier that had CallerAPI integrated If you originate, resell, or terminate U.S. voice: when a bank number is presented on an INVITE this week, can your switch tell the owner from a copy?

Leonard Lee shared thisIt’s always a blast spending time with my sons at the Miramar Air Show taking place at the Miramar Marine Base here in San Diego. They are starting to feature some advanced aircraft and tech like this ALIA MV250. It is a hybrid VTOL multi-mission utility aircraft that is being evaluated by U.S. armed forces for logistics transport. What makes it super interesting, it is electric powered and full autonomous. It has an astonishing 1,300+ nautical mile range. 250+ nm with a full payload of 2,000 lbs. Really amazing to see this autonomous vehicle in action! neXt Curve #defensetech #nextcurve

Leonard Lee reacted on thisLeonard Lee reacted on thisThis week at Yotta 2026, I shared my vision for a world where we’re moving from AI that responds to us to AI that increasingly works alongside us. Today, we open dozens of apps to get things done. Increasingly, I believe we’ll interact with an agent that knows us, acts on our behalf and orchestrates those apps and services for us. I’ve been using Meta’s Muse over the past few weeks to help with a home remodel, find restaurants and make reservations, and manage the endless school activities that come with everyday family life. I’m starting to see glimpses of how much better life could be as we shift to agents. Getting there will require billions of agents running continuously on our behalf. That changes the AI infrastructure equation and makes the CPU an increasingly critical part of the conversation. It’s exactly the kind of world we’re building the Arm AGI CPU rack for - enabling massive agents to scale efficiently. My bold prediction is that we are heading toward a world where there are more AI agents than there are people using the internet today. It will be sooner than we all expect. Thank you, Phoebe Liu, for a great conversation at Yotta. The agentic AI era is just getting started.

What is so exciting about this device is that AI isn't just another feature. Its built into the foundation of the phone. That means users can start with what they want to accomplish, and let AI reason through the task, work across services, and help make it happen. It's a simpler, more intuitive way to interact with technology, and a glimpse of where mobile experiences are headed. Congrats to the entire nubia team on the launch!

Leonard Lee reacted on thisLeonard Lee reacted on thisPaulo Fodor, Founder & CEO, Vydens, talked about “The $25 Trillion Blind Spot: Turning Network Intelligence into Retail Revenue” at CASA26, day 2 on Trust in the Ecosystem. My brief notes on what he said: - Paulo discussed using location verification for retail and the constraints posed by GDPR. - 4% is the best net margin in European food retail - it's a tough business. - 80% of every retail dollar still happens in retail stores. - Privacy is not exactly the strong point of big tech, and they take a large chunk of value from retail. - The communications ecosystem has the opportunity to help retail here. - He argued that the industry should build GDPR first on Network APIs. #telecoms #innovation #aivoice #networkapis CPaaSAA Rob Kurver
