The thing that surprised me most isn’t what I learned. It’s what I stopped second-guessing. I’ve spent a decade quietly accumulating a feeling — call it intuition — and an equally long time talking myself out of it. Motherhood didn’t teach me to trust it. It just removed the luxury of doubt. That has translated into work much more than I realized. I don’t have it all figured out. If anything, this past year has made me say “I don’t know” more than ever before. But in a world of infinite noise telling me what to think and what to optimize — there’s something quietly empowering about just trusting myself. So, thank you Raph.

It's the kind of People infrastructure I've always wished companies had from the start. Better yet, I feel like I've found my people. WellTheory's members come to us for human-centered care as they navigate their own complex autoimmune health journeys. So much of what we do internally is an extension of our mission. The people who provide care should feel cared for too, and I feel honored to be part of building that. So why do we still call autoimmune disease rare—when it affects 1 in 6 Americans? Autoimmune disease is one of the largest and fastest-growing categories of chronic illness. And yet most people still don't fully understand what it actually is. At its core, autoimmune disease happens when the immune system loses the ability to distinguish self from threat. Instead of attacking viruses or bacteria, it attacks the body's own tissues. That attack can show up almost anywhere: 🧠 Multiple Sclerosis: the immune system damages the protective covering of nerves 🦋 Hashimoto's and Graves' disease: immune-driven thyroid dysfunction 💉 Type 1 diabetes: destruction of insulin-producing cells 🦠 Rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus: systemic inflammation and joint damage 🌾 Celiac disease: immune-driven intestinal damage 🫀 Psoriasis and Psoriatic arthritis: immune-mediated inflammation of skin and joints 🩺 Crohn's disease and Ulcerative colitis: chronic inflammation of the digestive tract There are 100+ autoimmune conditions. Different names. Different specialists. Different symptoms. But the same underlying dysfunction: immune system dysregulation. What makes autoimmune disease especially challenging is that it’s often invisible. But it’s not rare. It’s not imaginary. And it isn’t just one condition. Today they published their 2026 State of Pelvic Health Report, and it's the clearest articulation yet of why I believe in this company. Pelvic health conditions affect 25-50% of women. A third of Origin's patients lived with symptoms for three or more years before getting care. Nearly half had come to believe their symptoms were simply untreatable. That's not a gap in medicine, the treatment exists and it works. It's a failure of the system to take women's health seriously. This was the Lyra journey. Take a condition that's common, treatable, and chronically dismissed. Refuse to accept that dismissal. Build exceptional evidence-based care around it and hold clinical outcomes as the true north, not as marketing, but as the actual operating principle. That's what Origin is doing with an outcomes study of 4,662 patients showing clinically meaningful improvement across both virtual and in-person care, with virtual patients getting there in roughly half the visits, and an independent survey where 89% of patients reported quality of life improvements, 72% within their first six sessions. (Yes, that's our family Christmas card. Christmas in July has a purpose here — stay with me.) Her reason: my three-month-old needed to be held more than she could have ever imagined, and her shoulders couldn't take it. She was a baby. Holding is the literal job. I stood there — festive sweater, drink in hand, team laughing around me — doing the math every working mother knows by heart: it's Saturday night, and I have no childcare on Monday. Here's what I've learned since: that text wasn't even the worst chapter of our childcare story. A few of the harder ones: ↳ Applying to TEN daycares at $150–250 a pop — two thousand dollars before anyone agreed to watch my child — and still getting no spot. ↳ Learning that unborn babies were ahead of my born daughter on waitlists — a system that quietly rewards a certainty that loss moms like me have never once been able to afford. ↳ Realizing you never actually solve childcare. You just keep re-solving it. Daycare, then school, then summer camps you had to book the previous January. We talk about maternal anxiety and burnout like they float free of all this. They don't. Keeping a child cared for in this country is a second full-time job — one that costs a mortgage payment, isn't guaranteed by any waitlist, and can end at any moment with a text on a Saturday night. It's never just hormones. Sometimes it's ten waitlists, a nanny's text mid-party, and a camp deadline you didn't know existed. *That quiet panic every time you open Ads Manager.* ⬆️ If you work in DTC women’s health right now, you’ve probably felt this. Lawsuits. Pixels breaking. CAC up 5x. Meta tagging your audience as “sensitive” overnight. The privacy reckoning that started with Flo and Everly Health has officially come for all of us -- and it’s changing the rules of healthcare marketing faster than most can keep up. Here’s what’s really happening (and what to do about it): 1️⃣ Meta pulled the plug on health data. As of 2025, campaigns targeting health terms like IVF, diabetes, or PCOS stopped collecting new data altogether. Algorithms broke, and the cost of compliant growth skyrocketed. 2️⃣ This didn’t start in 2025. It began in 2022, when reporters caught Meta’s Pixel quietly collecting patient data from hospital websites -- even inside portals. Cue lawsuits, FTC scrutiny, and HHS guidance that basically said: *no more.* 3️⃣ The new rule: no BAA, no data. Only companies that are HIPAA-compliant and have a signed Business Associate Agreement can touch sensitive health information. That excludes most of the ad platforms we’ve relied on. 4️⃣ The bridge is broken. In trying to protect consumers, platforms accidentally made it harder for women to *find* the care and products that could actually help them -- from fertility to menopause to mental health (you already know this, gang...!). 5️⃣ The good news: this is fixable. Tools are emerging to help health brands market responsibly -- server-side, anonymized, and compliant by default. Privacy-first ≠ growth-last. My take: this isn’t the end of DTC health marketing. It’s the beginning of marketing that *actually* earns trust.
