And with James Cooley in 1965, he gave us the algorithm that dragged the Discrete Fourier Transform from O(n²) down to O(n log n). Gauss got there first, in 1805, chasing Pallas and Juno across the sky. He just never published it and never counted the operations — which is an extremely Gauss thing to do if you ask us. It took 160 years and the computer age for someone to frame it, generalize it, and make it fast. At Veyra, the FFT isn't a historical curiosity. It's load-bearing. Vision's engine decomposes price action across stacked timeframes into its frequency components, isolates the dominant cycles, and projects them forward. Markets are noisy signals. The FFT is how we separate structure from noise. Without Cooley–Tukey, that math is elegant on paper and computationally hopeless in production. So: thank you, Dr. Tukey. Canadian woman stopped in Florida with 12 driver’s licenses, all showing her face but different names and birth dates. Hillsborough County deputies pulled over 28-year-old Bryce Swanson near West Hillsborough Avenue after noticing her lights were out. She first identified herself as Brianna Valenzuela and claimed she had a license. She later admitted she had never possessed a valid driver’s license. A search of the vehicle turned up 12 licenses bearing her photograph under different identities. Deputies determined she is from Canada and had overstayed her visa. She was arrested and charged with fraudulent use of personal information involving more than $5,000 or between 10 and 20 victims, along with related offenses. This is not an isolated oddity. It is another documented case of sophisticated identity fraud by someone who should not be in the country. #Florida #IdentityFraud

More than 50,000 people, including relatives of those m*rdered on September 11, have signed a petition demanding he be barred from the 25th anniversary commemorative events. They cite his failure to meaningfully acknowledge the horror of that day and his associations with people who have minimized the attacks, defended terrorists, or suggested America “deserved” them. The mayor still plans to attend. The families who lost loved ones that morning do not want him there turning their sacred ground into a political stage. This is not complicated. Honor the lost. When America went to war, an entire generation of women stepped into factories, shipyards, and machine shops. They built the planes, tanks, ships, and ammunition that helped win World War II while fathers, husbands, brothers, and sons fought overseas. Their work wasn’t glamorous. It was loud, dangerous, exhausting, and absolutely essential. This week we lost one of those remarkable women, Jeanne Gibson, a real-life “Rosie” who passed away at 100 years old after a life of service. At just 18, she left home to weld destroyers for the war effort before later serving with the Army Transportation Corps. Her generation never asked to be called heroes. They simply saw what needed to be done - and did it. May we never forget that freedom isn’t sustained only on distant battlefields. It’s forged in factories, on assembly lines, in shipyards, in quiet acts of sacrifice by ordinary Americans who answered the call. Rest easy, Rosie. We’ll take it from here. 🇺🇸

A Maine mother traveled across the country to visit her "transitioning" son and was beaten to de*th with a hammer in his California home. Angela Caprioli, 61, was found in a bedroom of her son’s Laguna Beach residence with severe blunt force injuries to her head and face. Prosecutors say 36-year-old Safford James Wolfson used a hammer in the attack. Wolfson’s grandmother discovered the bloody scene on July 20 after finding him on the floor with self-inflicted neck wounds. He has been charged with m*rder and a de*dly weapon enhancement. In what's not even remotely a plot twist: Wolfson has publicly identified as transgender. #California #Crime

Terra drops to $2/$12. Meanwhile, the flagship Sol stays at the same price but gets a Fast mode delivering up to 2.5x the speed for 2x the cost. OpenAI’s strategy is obvious here: → Luna attacks the low-cost layer dominated by DeepSeek, Kimi, GLM and other Chinese models. → Terra pressures rivals competing for everyday enterprise workloads. → Sol protects the premium frontier, where speed, reliability and deeper reasoning still command higher margins. OpenAI says the cuts came from better GPU kernels, speculative decoding, smarter routing, and its models helping optimize their own serving infrastructure. But much more important thing is what these prices unlock. ↳ Background agents. ↳ Continuous personalization. ↳ Large-scale code review. ↳ Long-running workflows that previously burned too many tokens to make economic sense. It’s now very clear that the AI race is no longer just about building the smartest model. It is about delivering the most useful intelligence per dollar, and routing every task to the right level of capability. The city’s Department of Finance uploaded a searchable public database of properties that may face the new pied-à-terre tax on high-value second homes. The list includes the full names and home addresses of thousands of owners. This was not a leak. It was an official government release under Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has made “tax the rich” the centerpiece of his agenda. City Hall claims the surcharge will raise hundreds of millions a year. Meanwhile New York continues losing high earners and the tax revenue they generate. Publishing a ready-made directory of their private residences turns tax policy into a public pressure campaign. In this episode of Austin Next, we audit S3 Ventures' "Patient Capital" thesis and how it leads to a Discipline Arbitrage with Managing Director Brian Smith.
