Christopher Brereton posted thisMy spicey take… I don’t get “clubbing”. It’s like waiting in line, to wait in line. And it also seems dangerous. So many people, jammed shoulder to shoulder, in a small space. One thing goes sideways and it all falls apart. Maybe I’m just old now. The grey beard is showing.

Christopher Brereton reposted thisChristopher Brereton reposted thisI believe that we are in a time where real change in Healthcare is possible and that it's never been more important to know your customers, better, to love your customers. We met Gwen Conner MBA, MS 12 years ago in our first year in business. We were introduced by a mutual friend (shout-out to Ronald Sakaguchi, DDS, MS, PhD, MBA) as Gwen was looking for a team to help her structure and deliver Human Centered Design training to teams within Providence. We hit it off and Gwen took a chance on an up-and-coming creative agency with little healthcare experience and a lot of enthusiasm to help change a broken system. What followed was 5 years of close collaboration and a growing friendship. As we shaped the curriculum, workshops and live community pilots, we both discovered a passion for each other's craft. Since that first meeting, working in Healthcare experience design has become the most rewarding part of my career. I've traveled the country spending time with people of all ages and backgrounds trying to understand what's working and what's not. It has opened my eyes to the challenges people have accessing, understanding and engaging with health services. We have been fortunate to work on so many exciting and challenging programs with a range of trusted clients. Secretly, we have always been hoping for a time when Gwen might be available to collaborate again, lucky for us, and you, that time is now. We have been working together these past few months to craft a strategic workshop series that brings together all of our skills, the best of HCD, Change management and decades of experience wrapped up in one. We are looking for partners who want to take a leap forward in their customer experience. Drop us a line if this sounds like something that could make an impact within your organization. Please give us a boost, a shout out, like, repost, or forward if you can. We’re trying to connect with people outside our network and any little boost you can offer would be a huge help. Christopher Brereton posted thisSuper excited to be the guest moderator for this MOHARA round table that will shine a light on something I think we all need to care more about. Becoming a #mother changes everything; not just a woman's life, but her brain, body, and sense of self. Science now has a word for this profound transformation: matrescence. Yet despite being one of the most universal human experiences, it remains strikingly under-researched and under-supported. Hosted by MOHARA, this roundtable brings together three very compelling voices on the subject exploring what actually happens during this transition, from the neuroscience of the maternal brain to the lived reality of new motherhood, and how the concept has become popularized. Join us for a chat with Lucy Jones - Award-winning journalist and author of Matrescence; Dr. Jodi Pawluski - Neuroscientist, psychotherapist, and author based in Rennes, France; and Sophie Nazerian - is the co-founder of Noor, a community-powered platform helping women find trusted health practitioners. Christopher Brereton liked thisMy conclusions exactly. Thanks Andrew Beebe! We should circle the wagons about what’s happening in Australia with data centers because of our ever cheapening and greening grid! Thanks for sharing your insight on helping create this windfall Audrey Zibelman! Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Daniel O'Toole John LeslieChristopher Brereton liked thisReflections from #ClimateWeekNYC 2026 That was the most positive Climate Week I've seen in years. Not because the politics got easier (they didn’t), but because the conversation moved and the vibes were much more energized and optimistic. Less ‘save the planet,’ more ‘build the grid, win on cost, compete.’ A few things that stuck with me: 1) Climate is now a story of energy/materials abundance and efficient and autonomous intelligence. What everyone wanted to talk about: data center load, grid capacity, and $6 gas. Clean power keeps winning because it's the cheapest, fastest thing to build. 92% of new capacity last year was clean (more when including rooftop solar). 2) More atoms, fewer bits. Less AI hype than I expected, a lot more frontier tech. "Physical AI" (robotics and autonomy applied to building and running real infrastructure) is landing well beyond Silicon Valley. I wrote about this for Heatmap News this week. It's not that it's *all* about atoms. It's more about AI accelerating the physical world. Speed to power was the buzz of the week. 3) Capital is back for breakthrough solutions, but it's picky. Speculative capital has always been what drives costs down (see the "solar coaster"), but the missing middle in energy finance is still the real bottleneck. And hyperscalers are increasingly playing a de-risking role that used to belong to governments. 4) Speed-to-power is pragmatic, not pure. Gas turbines first, grid later. Founders who crack interconnection and deployment speed will win the next few years. But long-term pricing of gas contracts is fraught. Buyer beware. Thank you to everyone who had me: Jigar Shah on Energy Empire (episode drops Oct 8, and I'd do a hundred of those), Equal Ventures and the Climate Capital Summit, The Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society at Dartmouth, The Nest Campus, and the Venture Feud crew at JPMorganChase. Venture Feud was, genuinely, the most fun I've had on a stage. And to everyone who sang with us at Beatbox with Elemental Impact and Norrsken VC: you didn't want to stop. Neither did we. See you next year. #ClimateTech #Energy #VentureCapital #ObviousVentures

“Chris brings leadership to the next level. His leadership isn't just about reaching the destination, it's about ensuring everyone arrives there stronger, smarter, more unified, and better equipped for the next challenge. As a Product Management intern at Sidebench under Chris's guidance last year, I was privileged to witness this firsthand. Despite the absence of a formal internship program, Chris forged a path for me to acquire invaluable real-world experience. Throughout the internship, Chris ensured I felt seen, supported, celebrated, and empowered to do my best work, which is the type of leader I strive to be one day. Chris invests in himself and it shows. I couldn't speak more highly of him!”

Great article from Spencer Dorn that gets into the first principles of building in healthcare, but I have the same energy as the Epic tweet (see comments). You can do it even better! At Calvient we build tons and tons of tools. The platform is basic building blocks, some guidance/rails/playbooks, and Agent creation. It's not going to be the perfect "product" in all instances. That assumes to much of each context. But the key is in the management and implementation. Add in a great Customer Success partnership. Self-service and having support in a partnership should not be looked at as exclusive. If you deploy/test, do it with staff and admins alike. Have them drive. Watch them learn! Yes it's hard on margin. Yes it adds complexity (compared to pure SaaS). But those chosen constraints for us, because we know it works. The tradeoff is right. And it meets clinics where they are at. Which is much needed right now. https://lnkd.in/gJSDVtaT

Any GP Practice in the NHS they know the complexity of sending referrals! Anima's integration into eRS simplifies that. Referrals can be triggered across Triage, Document Workflow, Scribe - centralising the processing and actioning of them is a massive time saver! This is a massive step up and can't wait to start seeing it live with some of our pilot sites!

Three incredible days at #JPM2026. Same conversation with 10+ health system execs: "We're building our AI strategy. Evaluating vendors. Need to pick the right partners." This sounds familiar. 2009-2012: The EHR decision. After the HITECH Act, health systems spent 18-24 months evaluating Epic vs. Cerner. Consultants. Committees. RFPs. Multi-year implementations. The logic made sense: EHRs were monolithic platforms with huge switching costs. You had to get it right. 2025: The AI decision. I'm watching health systems do the same thing. "AI steering committees." "Strategic AI partner" RFPs. Trying to pick winners. But there's a critical difference: EHRs were a single, massive platform decision. AI in healthcare is dozens of different problems that need dozens of different solutions. Here's what health systems are missing: They're looking for "the AI vendor" when they should be building "an AI portfolio." There's no single AI platform that solves: → Documentation burden (ambient notes) → Radiology throughput (workflow optimization) → Clinical trials matching → Revenue cycle optimization (across specialties) → Clinical decision support These are different problems. Different technologies. Different vendors. Different timelines. Some need FDA clearance and 24-month validations. Some can pilot in 90 days. Some integrate with Epic. Some replace parts of Epic. You can't solve all of these with one "strategic AI partnership”....no matter that Anthropic is saying right now. <ducks> The AI landscape is evolving too fast for monogamous vendor relationships. 6 months ago: GPT-4 for clinical documentation. Today: Ambient listening, agentic workflows, multimodal imaging analysis. 6 months from now: Something else entirely. That's why you need exposure across the whole landscape—not a bet on one vendor. The mistake I see health systems making: Approach 1: "Strategic Partner" Strategy Pick one AI vendor → Enterprise deal → 3-year commitment → Hope they solve everything Result: You're locked in. Technology moves on. You're stuck in vendor negotiations while competitors move faster. Approach 2: "Portfolio Strategy" Deploy capital across multiple companies → Take equity → Co-develop solutions → Maintain optionality Result: You capture upside. You shape products. You're first to new capabilities. You have relationships across the ecosystem. After 20 years building innovation platforms at JPMorgan, Mousse Partners, Blueprint Health, Junto Health, Atlantic Health: In fast-moving markets, portfolio strategies beat single-vendor bets. Healthcare AI is moving fast. The question isn't "Which AI vendor should we pick?" The question is: "How do we build an AI portfolio that gives us the most optionality" If you're thinking about this, let's talk. 📩 douglas.m.hayes@gmail.com ☎️ 215-620-2032 #healthcareAI #digitalhealth #venturecapital #innovation

Many brilliant engineers in HealthTech remain invisible. They build the platforms, algorithms, and systems that move medicine forward. Yet when founders, investors, and boards start searching for technical leaders, their names never appear. The problem is rarely ability. It is visibility. In regulated industries like MedTech, leadership opportunities often go to people whose thinking is visible to the market, not just those doing excellent work behind the scenes. If you want companies to find you rather than chase opportunities yourself, this shift matters. #HealthTech, #MedTech, #EngineeringLeadership, #CareerGrowth, #PersonalBrand

Healthtech CMOs: want to take advantage of the Rural Health Transformation program? Guide your ICPs on how to apply for funding. There are plenty of providers currently actively trying to figure out how to tap into all of that cash. And it's not always the easiest or most obvious process. - Does a particular technology fit the RHT criteria? - How should I apply? - How do I evaluate the specific vendor or offering? - Does our organization qualify as a rural provider under the program rules? - Which funding stream is the right one for our use case? - What outcomes do we need to demonstrate in the application? - What documentation will we need to submit? - What internal resources are required to manage the grant? - Can this funding cover implementation and training, or only the software itself? - What reporting obligations come after we receive the funds? All of these, and many more, are questions CFOs | CIOs | CMIOs are asking right now. None of these execs wants their org be the one that gets it wrong. So if you're a healthtech vendor, provide them with that guidance and lower the friction for them to get funding. If you want to drive real adoption, offer a roadmap to funding as part of your marketing strategy. It will enable them to come back to you later for investments in your offering. I'm Abdul, the healthcare and life sciences marketer, and co-founder of Sirona Marketing. We focus on GTM and marketing support for healthcare and life sciences companies. If you need help with your marketing, including on how to tap into RHT funding, let us know. If we can't help you, we know people who can.

Your HealthTech product is solid, but you aren’t getting traction. Pilot stalls Failed to scale Uninterested clinicians Ghosted by administrators Founders, why why oh why is this happening to you? If you are building in HealthTech, You have to build something you know will either - fit seamlessly into the current workflow OR - disrupts a current broken workflow and builds it back with true effectiveness And you can only do this if you talk to clinicians Boots on the ground Taking care of patients Doing the admin tasks In the trenches Not their bosses Not their C-suite Not the crusty old RN or MD MBA who hasn’t done a set of vitals in 23 years (sorry) Not your college roommate or golfing buddy. It doesn’t have to be hard. It doesn’t have to break your budget. But you desperately need to validate your implementation to communicate value and drive adoption.

Thanks Aaron Ferber! Just finished up a talk at HLTH on "Human Centered Design Principles in the Age of AI". Well attended, and well received. Couldn't have picked a better partner in Aaron Ferber @ Ascension, who has a background spanning startups and design consulting (IDEO) to mission driven health. We covered: 1. Funnels vs. Anti-funnels. Aka don't make patients download an app or you'll lose 70% of them. 2. Give value to get value. Make sure you have a "guest" experience - airlines & ecommerce figured this out long ago. 3. The power of "defaults". Aka when to use opt-in vs. opt-out and how radical a difference it made in say organ donation rates. 4. Test everything. You're wrong. You just don't know specifically how you're wrong until you test. Send your engineers into hospital/health facilities and have the sit in the waiting room for a couple of hours. 5. Using AI for a human touch. I.e. how to personalize at scale, what you know about education or reading level to alter the way you talk to patients. Full video in the next week or two. For now, here's what I said above in video format for those who didn't open this message :-) #HLTH25 and #HLTHUSA
