Ben Sweeny shared thisThis makes me sick. There is a store on Nantucket that has a sign that says "No Influencers". This is what happens when prejudice goes unchecked. This is what happens when hate is allowed to persist. Society has become so sick that it's socially acceptable to openly discriminate against the most vulnerable among us: influencers. Influencers put their lives on the line to help the economy and what do they get in return? Nothing but checks from brands, money from social media, free expensive products, and comped vacations. The abuse has gone too far. Influencers shouldn't be treated equally. They should be treated better than everyone else. Influencers are the modern-day nobility. They shouldn't be standing in line like peasants. They should get a red carpet entrance and a ring light at check out. This store in Nantucket shouldn't be banning influencers. They should be paying them to show up. Some people think the influencer industry is a form of extortion for small business but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Here’s how it works.. Small businesses are given two simple choices: Allow influencers to exploit their store for their own personal gain, or say no and watch their competitors get millions of views which will lead to the collapse of their business. This isn't extortion. This is capitalism. I hope this is the last time I see a disgusting picture like this.
