Austin Reason posted thisI just returned from three intensive days at Oracle’s Redwood Shores campus for the Fusion Agentic Apps Builder Workshop, and one thing became very clear: We are moving beyond experimenting with AI Agents. We are entering the era of engineering Agentic Applications for the Enterprise. Having the opportunity to build hands-on alongside Oracle product experts, Customers, and Partners gave me a much deeper appreciation for how quickly the Oracle AI ecosystem is evolving - and, more importantly, what this means for Oracle customers. A few of my biggest takeaways: 🧠 Agentic applications are about outcomes, not prompts. The real opportunity is to move beyond agents that simply answer questions and toward intelligent systems that understand business context, collaborate across processes, reason over enterprise data, take appropriate actions, and help drive measurable outcomes. ⚖️ Governance may become one of the most important differentiators. Policy-driven orchestration creates the ability to establish business rules, approvals, guardrails, escalations, and human decision points as part of the design. For enterprises - particularly those operating complex or regulated processes - that is critical. 🧪 Testing Agentic AI like enterprise software matters. ATLAS was another important takeaway for me. Being able to repeatedly validate critical agent scenarios and confidently move them toward production is something entirely different. ⌨️ No-Code + Low-Code + Pro-Code changes who can participate. Business users can help translate process problems into ideas and agents. Functional and technical teams can build through the UI. Developers can work through the CLI, VS Code, and AI coding tools to generate, validate, test, and manage Fusion artifacts. Across ERP, HCM, SCM, Procurement, CX, and Analytics, we now have an opportunity to rethink processes that have historically been transactional and ask a very different question: "What would this process look like if the system could reason, orchestrate, act, and collaborate with people to achieve the outcome?" We need to help customers identify the right use cases, establish the right governance, engineer solutions that can operate at enterprise scale, and ultimately turn AI investment into measurable business value. Austin Reason liked thisAustin Reason liked thisLast week, I had the opportunity to participate in IHG's EPIC (Engaging Partnerships through Innovation and Collaboration) Business Collaboration Lab as part of IHG's Giving for Good Month. Led by our Procurement organization, EPIC creates opportunities to support and collaborate with small and medium-sized businesses, and it was great to spend time with colleagues from Procurement and see firsthand the impact they're creating through this program. One of the most rewarding parts of the day was exploring how AI could help solve real productivity challenges faced by growing businesses. What started as a conversation about AI as a potential disruptor quickly shifted to discussions about AI as an enabler, helping reduce administrative burden, streamline workflows, and create more time for the work that drives growth. The experience reinforced something I see time and again: the value of AI isn't the technology itself. It's helping people connect the technology to practical business opportunities and challenges. Thank you to Sonya Spratley Balogun, the EPIC team, the participating business owners, and all of the IHG colleagues who volunteered their time and expertise. The most memorable moments were the ones where a challenge was reframed as an opportunity and a new possibility came into focus.

That’s one of the things I’m looking forward to at #OracleAIWorld this October. I’ll be there with my team SPL Consulting and spending time with customers, partners, colleagues, and friends from across the Oracle ecosystem. Some conversations will be about business. Others will probably have nothing to do with business at all. Both are worth having and excited about it. The industry is moving quickly, and I’m particularly interested in hearing what organizations are actually dealing with right now. What is changing? What is working? Where are businesses still figuring things out? For me, that is the real value of events like this. Not just listening to what’s being presented but listening to the people in the room. And yes, I’m looking forward to the hallway conversations too. They tend to be where the unexpected conversations begin.
