While I want to be able to talk to them, it has been very hard to answer to everyone. Everytime I say no, I feel bad. Well now, with AskSila, I don't have to worry about that. Anyone can ask any question to my twin - https://lnkd.in/eyCXNg2S . It is my digital extension. There times it is worse then me, more often, it is better. Not just that, if you want to talk to real me :) you can also book a meeting with me through this. Yes, I have setup a nominal fee just to ensure that only serious folks are booking the meeting. https://lnkd.in/eyCXNg2S Viven AskSila #digitaltwins

Ashu Garg shared thisAnyscale was just acquired by Nscale. Congratulations to Robert Nishihara and the team. In 2016, it was just Robert and a few PhD students at Berkeley, working in their professor Ion Stoica's lab. Back then, Robert and his labmates were doing AI research into new machine learning algorithms. Every algorithm they created had to be tested but the tests were too big for a single computer. So they ran them across many GPUs in the cloud. But making many GPUs work together was brutally hard. They have to share data, coordinate and handle crashes. That meant building a distributed system - and no good off-the-shelf tool existed. Before Anyscale, every researcher built their own from scratch. Some of the smartest people in AI were spending their time on plumbing instead of research. Robert and his labmates built the fix and open-sourced it. They called it Ray. You write normal Python on your laptop. Ray handles the 100s of machines behind the scenes. Starting a company was never their goal. They just wanted to make distributed computing easier. But by 2019, Ray had taken on a life of its own. Companies were adopting it and asking for support no research lab could provide. And with graduation approaching, they faced a choice: let Ray plateau, or go all in. So they founded Anyscale to commercialize Ray. The same playbook Ion and the early Databricks team had run with Spark and Databricks. I invested in Databricks' seed round. I'd watched Ion's lab produce Spark. When the same lab produced Ray, it was impossible not to back them. Foundation invested in Anyscale at the Series B and again at the C. When Anyscale started, Ray had one real production user. Today it runs inside OpenAI, Instacart, Spotify, DoorDash, Airbnb, Uber, and Adobe. Now onto it’s next phase as part of Nscale. Congratulations Robert, Philipp, Ion, and the whole Anyscale team.

Ashu Garg posted thisFrontier labs are moving up the stack. Founders could easily conclude that the opportunity for building AI applications is disappearing. I think the opposite is true. The labs will build powerful horizontal products. But they cannot deeply understand every industry, workflow, customer environment, and consequential business decision. That leaves a huge surface area for startups that know: - Which problem is important enough to solve? - Which customer needs it most urgently? - What proprietary context is required? - How the product fits into the actual workflow? - How to deliver a measurable business outcome? Startups should expect the labs to move into some of their markets. The strongest defense will be building domain expertise, customer understanding, and workflow depth that broad platforms struggle to replicate. The application opportunity is becoming more specific. The winners will turn broadly available intelligence into deep, hard-to-replace value for a particular customer.

Ashu Garg posted thisApplications are now open for Foundation Capital's next FC Build cohort. We started FC Build by working closely with IIT Founders, a community of founders we know well. We've had hundreds of founders ask if we'd ever open up the program more broadly. After working with Build founders who've gone on to raise $100s of millions of dollars, we're excited to share, FC Build is now open to exceptional technical founders from every school and background. Everything else stays the same: it's completely free, founders receive $1M+ in startup credits, and we intentionally keep cohorts small and the bar high (<2% acceptance rate). Applications close August 14. We're already meeting founders, so if you're interested, I'd encourage you to apply early: https://lnkd.in/gsH5UEH7

“Ashu has been an incredible investor, mentor and partner for me. He always makes time to connect and his ability to provide the right feedback at critical moments has been very helpful on our company journey. Ashu is generally not prescriptive in his feedback, which I prefer, but rather asks the right questions and provides insights from his investing experience that help us think through the challenges and decisions we face. However, when asked, Ashu has been very helpful in constructing strategy and giving specific opinions. He's also been a strong partner with introductions and funding strategy. We wouldn't have the opportunity we have without his support and I couldn't give Ashu a higher recommendation.”

Thanks Ryan Lawler for covering our raise. “Investors are clamoring for new ways to acquire pre-IPO shares as high-growth startups stay private longer… Augment focuses on high-demand, late-stage names like OpenAI, SpaceX, xAI, Databricks and Canva, but has roughly 300 private companies on its platform… ‘You can go from seeing an offering to owning the shares in five minutes,’ Moldvai says.” Read the full Axios article here: https://lnkd.in/gn-K8-h7

New blog just dropped 🧠 Most VC firms don't have a deal flow problem. They have a signal processing problem. Everyone sees the same launches, the same founder activity, the same market data. The difference isn't who sees more. It's who makes sense of it faster. We wrote about why signal to conviction speed is becoming the real edge in venture and what that means for how investment teams should operate. Link in the comments. Would love to hear how other investors and operators think about this.

A great product draws interest, but pricing wins deals. This excerpt by Madhavan Ramanujam and Eddie Hartman shows how a SaaS firm doubled its average deal size. 💰 While many startups obsess over building great products, they routinely neglect pricing execution. 🛠️ They include these three particularly useful tactics: anchoring, the consistency trap, and forced trade-offs. 🚀 In the excerpt below, they share three negotiating tactics that helped one global software-as-a-service (SaaS) company they worked with more than double its average deal size, without changing its product or customer base. - Want full insights? The average SaaS company runs 130+ tools. Nearly a third of them? Gathering digital dust. That's not a tech stack. That's a subscription graveyard — and it's quietly bleeding your budget dry. Tool sprawl isn't just a cost problem. It's a focus problem. Every disconnected platform your team juggles is time, energy, and money not spent on growth. We broke down the real numbers behind SaaS tool sprawl — and the hidden budget impact most finance teams never see coming. Worth reading before your next renewal cycle. 👉 https://loom.ly/_wGeAlE #SaaS #MarketingOps #TechStack #RevenueOps #MarketingAutomation #SaaSGrowth
