Ardian Preçi shared thisThank you Colleen Bamford Wamback for this conversation about what happens after the big idea: the setbacks, the honest feedback, and why the part that doesn't work is usually the part students learn from.Ardian Preçi shared thisWhat happens when a student has a big idea—and what happens when it doesn’t work? Ardian Preçi, director of innovation and entrepreneurship programs and I3, the student innovation lab at WPI, discusses how mentors can encourage creativity, offer honest feedback, and guide students through the risks, setbacks, and breakthroughs that are all part of innovation. 🎙️ https://lnkd.in/e3m4-4TS WPI i3 Lab

Ardian Preçi shared thisPeter Abosede, congratulations on this milestone for your business. Super proud of your persistence and hard work. We at the WPI i3 Lab are all cheering for you. Well DoneArdian Preçi shared thisCongratulations to Peter Abosede and the team at SAMIS AI, awarded $150,000 by the Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Innovation Institute at Massachusetts Technology Collaborative through the Massachusetts Robotic Digital Twin Initiative — one of just six organizations selected across the entire state, in company that includes Boston Dynamics and Northeastern University. SAMIS AI is building a digital twin of its multi-robot collaboration platform, coordinating aerial inspection drones, crawling robots, and an intelligent robotics toolbox. The aim: accelerate the adoption of advanced air mobility (AAM) by making maintenance more efficient, certification faster, and the workforce better prepared — all while strengthening Massachusetts' position in a fast-growing industry. What makes this one especially meaningful for us: Peter is an alumnus of the WPI i3 Lab and our GISA(Goat Impact Summer Accelerator) program. Seeing a founder who came through our doors earn this kind of state-backed recognition is exactly why we do this work. This is what the i3 Lab is built for — helping founders turn bold ideas into companies that put Worcester and Massachusetts on the map. Congratulations, Peter and the entire SAMIS AI team. We're cheering you on. #WPI #WPIBusinessSchool #i3Lab #GISA #Robotics #Massachusetts #AdvancedAirMobility #Startups #Worcester

Ardian Preçi shared thisMichael Abrams, it was a pleasure having you in the podcast. Thank you for your thoughtful leadership and support in helping the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders at WPI.Ardian Preçi shared thisWhy do some people choose to build others up? A Conversation with Mike Abrams. In this episode of Time to Startup, Ardian Preçi sits down with Michael Abrams for a thoughtful conversation about life, opportunity, and the experiences that shape a person’s path. From his time as a student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute to the journey that followed, Mike reflects on the decisions, environments, and people that influenced both his career and his perspective on giving back. We talk about the importance of community, the value of opening doors for younger generations, and why supporting students who are willing to take risks and create something of their own matters. Mike also shares what keeps him connected to WPI and why he believes universities can play a powerful role in helping students discover opportunities beyond the classroom. Throughout the episode, the conversation explores themes of courage, gratitude, growth, and impact — not just in business, but in life. https://lnkd.in/eWuqecGjS2EP4 - Time To StartUp - “Why do some people choose to build others up? Ardian Preçi shared thisGreat news for WPI and Central Massachusetts.Ardian Preçi shared this📰 NEWS: The Healey-Driscoll Administration is investing $18 million to help local incubators, research institutes, and universities build shared facilities to accelerate climatetech business growth. This is the first investment of climatetech funds under the Mass Leads Act, and it's a big step toward keeping Massachusetts at the forefront of the innovation economy. We expect these awards to result in 50 climatetech pilot demonstrations, serve more than 40 startup companies, create over 300 jobs, and attract $250 million in venture funding over the next five to ten years. Congratulations to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Greentown Labs, Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute, University of Massachusetts Lowell, and The Engine! Ardian Preçi shared thisOne of the best parts of hosting Time To StartUp is getting to ask the questions founders are usually too polite to ask investors directly. This week I got to ask Zachary Dutton the Executive Director of Auxilium the big one: what do you actually want to see in a startup? It's less about the idea and more about whether the founder can: • Execute under uncertainty • Adapt when the plan breaks (because it will) • Articulate the problem with real clarity • Show signal — even small signal — that the market cares I left the conversation thinking, every founder should be recording themselves pitching, watching it back, and asking: would I write a check to this person? Zachary Dutton, thank you for being on our podcast.Ardian Preçi shared thisThis episode of Time To StartUp, Ardian Preçi sits down with Zachary Dutton, Executive Director of Auxilium, to unpack what investors are really looking for in early-stage founders. A few takeaways from the conversation: → Coachability is a signal. Investors are watching how founders respond to hard questions, not just how they answer them. → Problem–solution fit beats polish. If you can't articulate the pain in one sentence, the rest of the pitch doesn't matter. → Traction isn't always revenue. Early signs of real-world validation — pilots, LOIs, users who won't shut up about you — tell investors you can execute. → Clarity is a superpower. Founders who can explain a complex market in plain language get funded. Founders who hide behind jargon don't. Ardian and Zachary also spent time on the Worcester ecosystem and the role Auxilium is playing in helping founders here get ready for the conversations that actually matter. Big thanks to Zachary Dutton for the time and the candor. Worth 30 minutes of your week if you're building anything. 🎧 Full episode: https://lnkd.in/eDbkKsXG #TimeToStartUp #Worcester #Startups #VentureCapital #WPIi3Lab #WPI #AuxiliumS2EP3 - Time To StartUp - "What does an investor want? Ardian Preçi shared thisWe started WIIX series at WPI with one simple aim: To give students from different Worcester County Universities a platform to connect, find cofounders and help each other build great businesses. We look forward to hosting your students and thank you for your work in cultivating a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem in Worcester.Ardian Preçi shared thisFor the past two years, Worcester Inter-University Innovation Exchange (WIIX) has brought together student founders from across Worcester to share ideas, challenge one another, and build what’s next. This year, we’re doing it again, bigger, sharper, and more collaborative than ever. Hosted by the i3 Lab at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, WIIX brings together student entrepreneurs from different colleges to pitch ideas, exchange perspectives, and learn from one another in a space built for innovation. Whether you’re actively building a startup or just curious about entrepreneurship, this is your chance to: • Hear real ideas from student teams • Connect with founders across Worcester • Get inspired to start something of your own If you’re a student entrepreneur (or thinking about becoming one), you should be in the room. Ardian Preçi reposted thisArdian Preçi reposted thisWhich states produce the most “billion-dollar startups” relative to their size? 🦄 ▫️ California: 19 per million ▫️ Massachusetts: 15 per million ▫️ New York: 14 per million ▫️ Utah: 9 per million ▫️ Texas: 2 per million Massachusetts is the real story. 7 million people. Nearly the same unicorn rate as California. MIT and Harvard as the talent pipeline helps. Texas has a massive economy and produces 2 unicorns per million. Same rate as Arizona. Unicorn creation concentrates around research universities and deep VC networks. Population size is almost irrelevant. Which state surprises you most on this map?

Ardian Preçi reacted on thisArdian Preçi reacted on thisI'm honored to have received WPI's Charles O. Thompson award as an Outstanding Member of the Class of 2029. Only one or two students are selected each year, and I'm grateful to be one of them this year. The award goes to first-year students who pair a top academic record with standout work outside the classroom. To be eligible, you need all A's and B's, including at least six A's, across your first three terms. From there, the committee looks at what you've actually built. For me, that's GR-0X. The project was initiated last year with my advisor, Prof. Mahdi Agheli, within the ALMaS Research Group. Now in my second year as its student research lead, I lead a 12-person student team developing a morphologically adaptive humanoid robot: a platform that can reconfigure its body to fit the task in front of it. We're supported by industry sponsors Microchip Technology Inc., Polymaker, and G20, Inc, and we're currently developing both the upper and lower body. Thank you to President Grace Wang and Dean Arne Gericke for presenting the award, to Professor Mahdi Agheli for his mentorship and guidance; to the ALMaS Research Group for its support and contributions from day one; to our sponsors; and to every member of the GR-0X team. This recognition belongs to all of you." The best part is still ahead. #WPI #Robotics #Humanoids #Research

Markets are our greatest invention for solving human problems. And, when markets fail, government should step in to correct them. Whether it's housing, healthcare, or as Zohran Mamdani is doing in New York, grocery stores, public options have the power to discipline markets that have clearly stopped delivering solutions to the problems they are built to solve. From my conversation with Anand Giridharadas.
