Angela Morgan reposted thisAngela Morgan reposted thisMy good friends on the Analytics team here at CSGF are hiring a new role: Director of Applied Analytics. https://lnkd.in/g3xrGUfV It's a translator role sitting between Analytics and the business teams they serve. You'd own the analytics relationship for a set of internal CSGF teams: learning their work well enough to anticipate what they need, running the analysis, prototyping self-serve tools, and presenting findings in a way non-technical people can actually act on. You will also help shape our AI-assisted analytics strategy and inform the direction of a growing Applied Analytics function alongside the VP. Why I'm sharing it broadly: the best fits may not have "data analyst" in their title today (hands-on data leaders, consultants, business analysts, analytical PMs). You do need a background in data analytics, including comfort with SQL and data visualization, but the job is less about building things yourself and more about knowing enough to work the full range of questions that come your way, with AI tools at your disposal. The harder skill is the partnership side: earning trust with stakeholders, turning a vague ask into a workable question, and knowing what someone actually needs versus what they requested. Glad to talk with anyone considering it. It's a great team to work on! I spent the last five years working alongside them and can't recommend this opportunity high enough. Data work is in a massive state of change right now, and this role has an opportunity to be on the forefront of shaping what it will look like at CSGF.

Angela Morgan reposted thisAngela Morgan reposted thisSnowflake just made one of the most important announcements in data this year — and most people missed it. They launched the Open Semantic Interchange Initiative (OSI) with partners like dbt Labs, Sigma, Hex, Omni, Google, and AWS. It’s the industry’s biggest attempt yet to create a shared semantic standard — one common language for metrics across your entire data stack. Why does this matter? Because AI agents can’t reason across fragmented metric definitions. If “active customer” means something different in every tool, AI can’t deliver accurate insights. OSI aims to fix that by unifying how metrics are defined, enabling more powerful AI-driven and agentic analytics. In our latest blog by Data Solutions Manager Samar Ahsan, we break down what OSI is, why it’s getting so much industry alignment, and how data leaders can prepare for this shift toward interoperable, AI-ready metric definitions. Angela Morgan reacted on thisAngela Morgan reacted on thisSpent the evening at the dbt Community Meetup at the Madison Avenue in NYC. The panel walked through the key ideas from dbt Summit 2026. Hosted by Sigma Computing and brought together by Brooklyn Data, the conversation covered a lot of ground on where data and AI are heading: 1) Data modeling matters more than ever. AI is only as reliable as the data underneath it. Well-tested, documented models and a shared semantic layer are what turn AI from a demo into something a business can trust. 2) Context engineering came up a lot too. Is it a new discipline or good modeling under a new name? The debate in the room was great. Thanks to David A. Gelman, Ph.D. for moderating and to the panelists for such an open conversation. Great meeting so many people building in this space. #dbt #DataEngineering #DataModeling #AI #MachineLearning

Angela Morgan reacted on thisAngela Morgan reacted on thisIn 2010, I was supporting education policy work The Council of State Governments, when a state legislator asked me if the Common Core State Standards were “going to work”. I, a young 20-something, passionate about educational equity, had no idea. But I wanted to find out. I decided I would find out by teaching, so I applied to Teach For America. My time teaching and then in the central office of Baltimore City Public Schools taught me so much more than I anticipated. Of course, I learned more about our education system, but also systemic racism, the talented and dedicated people in the city of Baltimore, and the stories of my students’ families that I still carry with me today. Ten years at the KIPP Foundation expanded my TFA network, and gave me the opportunity to learn from and work with some of the most committed, creative, and competent people around. I'm excited to see friends from Baltimore and KIPP this weekend and make new ones! ✨ Pictured: (1) *sweating* during my first lesson at Philly Institute; (2) My favorite corner of my classroom; and (3) One of the wishes a student made when the Mayor visited our classroom.

Angela Morgan reacted on thisAngela Morgan reacted on thisThat’s a wrap on dbt Summit 2026! 🎉 Our team trained 1,095 people across 9 training sessions and 6 hands-on labs. We also certified 43 Analytics Engineers and 12 dbt Architects this week. These are incredible numbers!! What I’m most proud of is how smoothly everything went. This is the 5th time I've done trainings at dbt Summit and this year was by far the smoothest Summit we’ve ever had. And that’s largely because of this incredible team of dbt instructors and architects. Everyone put in the work, prepared, jumped in to help each other, and gave it their all this week. There are a lot of moving pieces that go into making Summit happen, and I’m so grateful to work with a group of people who make it look easy. ❤️ A special shout out to Matthew Elliott and our incredible Engineering team on helping us create thousands of dbt sandbox accounts on the fly. There is a lot happening behind the scenes to make hands-on labs work and you all have mastered this process! Thank you to everyone who helped make this week such a success. I’m really proud of what we accomplished together!

Most people treat “segmentation” like it’s some advanced analytics thing. It’s not. It’s just common sense you can prove with data. Different people behave differently. If you average them together, you blur the truth. ⸻ Here’s a real A/B testing scenario that trips teams up: You test two checkout flows. • Version A: simple, fast, minimal info • Version B: adds trust badges, reviews, and a small upsell Results come back: • A wins overall by +6% conversion • Easy call… right? Not quite. When you break it down: • New users → strongly prefer A (they just want speed) • Returning users → prefer B (they trust you, they’re open to extras) • High spenders → really prefer B (higher order value) Now your “winner” depends on who you care about. I ran into this while building a parking marketplace, simpler checkout increased conversions for new users, but returning users spent more with a slightly more detailed flow. If you ship A to everyone, here’s what happens: • Conversion rate looks great • Average order value drops • Revenue quietly takes a hit And nobody notices because the headline metric improved ⸻ Smarter move: • Show A to new users (reduce friction) • Show B to returning or high-intent users (increase value) Same experiment. Way better outcome. ⸻ This is the part most teams skip. They find the insight, then ignore it because it complicates the rollout. So they default to one-size-fits-all. Which is exactly what segmentation is supposed to fix.

Every AI agent project I've seen stall had the same root cause: It wasn't the model, data, or vendor. It was the moment someone said, "We need a human to approve that," and nobody pushed back. Not because it was wrong, but because nobody had done the work to define what the agent could and couldn't do on its own. So the team bolted a human approval step onto every action and what started as an autonomous system became a recommendation engine with a nicer interface. The technology isn't the bottleneck on most AI projects. The org chart is. #AI #AIStrategy #Leadership #TechnologyLeadership

🚀 Most dashboards are bloated. This one shipped in a single session. Nonprofit teams: if your donor insights still live in spreadsheets or multi-tab chaos, here’s the faster way. We turned raw CSVs into a polished, live dashboard—in one session—using Mito Labs, Project Jupyter, and ChatGPT-5. What shipped: ✅ One-page Streamlit app ✅ 8 high-signal visuals (segment, channel, city, age & more) ✅ Built-in safeguards: caching, layout guards, self-healing deps ✅ Ready to plug in new data + re-run No dead ends. No yak-shaving. Just a link stakeholders can use tomorrow. The stack: Mito auto-scaffolded clean code Jupyter tightened the feedback loop ChatGPT-5 glued it all together If you’re a nonprofit leader or data lead ready to roll this out on real data, DM me “MITO DEMO.” I’ll walk you through the exact playbook.

Permissions don’t break loudly. They drift quietly. Most Tableau environments don’t fail because of one bad decision. They get harder to operate because of small inconsistencies that pile up. So, here’s this week’s admin pattern. This script gives you visibility into your groups, what exists, how many there are, and where users are assigned, before you change anything. It’s not glamorous. But it answers a foundational question: Do I actually understand the structure I’m operating? Before refactoring permissions. Before tightening governance. Before automating anything. Run it. Scan the output. Notice what surprises you. I’ll share what I noticed midweek. #TableauOps #Tableau #TableauAdmin #OperationalExcellence #DataOps

Building a modern data platform isn't just about technology, but having the right partners. Rittman Analytics just published a case study on our work together at BARK. They didn't just migrate us to BigQuery and Looker—they embedded with our team and fundamentally elevated how we work. Through hands-on coaching, skills transfer, and establishing best practices, they ensured we could independently manage and scale the platform long-term. The technology transformation was table stakes. The real value was building a more capable, confident data team with modern processes we now own completely. The result: a single source of truth, self-service analytics across the business, and a strong foundation layer for AI. If you're evaluating data consultancies, this is the model to look for—partners who work themselves out of a job by making your team better.
