Further details have emerged of restructuring of international video distribution operations of Paramount and Universal, following decision by latter to withdraw from 18-year-old CIC joint venture in favour of recently-acquired Polygram Video International (see 1999/28a2).
CIC is to be taken over by Paramount (USA; +1/213 956 5000; www.paramount.com), and will continue to operate out of its existing London headquarters. Company will also continue handling Dreamworks product until `at least end 1999', including international release of key features Saving Private Ryan and Prince of Egypt.
Thereafter Dreamworks, whose distribution agreement is actually with Universal, is also likely to transfer its business to PVI. …
