Gary Dalton reposted thisGary Dalton reposted thisWhy do high-tensile structures work so well at modern venues? Today's venues are expected to deliver much more than a place to watch a match, attend a concert or visit an attraction. They need to create memorable visitor experiences while maximising the use of every square metre. That's where tensile structures excel. ✔ Create revenue-generating spaces – Extend hospitality, food & beverage and retail areas without the cost and complexity of traditional buildings. ✔ Improve the visitor experience – Provide shade and shelter for fan zones, arrival plazas, queue lines and outdoor gathering spaces. ✔ Architectural impact – Large clear spans and elegant forms create iconic spaces that enhance the identity of a venue and improve the aesthetics. ✔ Flexibility – Ideal for new developments, redevelopments and expanding existing facilities with minimal disruption. ✔ Year-round usability – Weather protection helps venues host more events and keep outdoor spaces operational in all seasons. From sports venues and entertainment districts to hotels, airports and festival sites, high-tensile structures are helping transform outdoor environments into functional, engaging and commercially valuable destinations. At TenStruct, we work with architects, developers and venue operators to design, manufacture and install bespoke tensile structures that combine engineering excellence with architectural ambition. Gary Dalton reposted thisGary Dalton reposted thisThis Sunday, we're looking forward to welcoming the local community to the Royal Ascot Golf Club Summer Fete, and I couldn't be more excited to be helping deliver what promises to be a fantastic day out. It's been a real team effort to bring everything together, and we're hoping to create a truly memorable event that has something for everyone – from live entertainment, artisan stalls and delicious food to family activities and a fun dog show. Events like this are a great reminder of the important role local venues can play in bringing communities together, supporting local businesses and creating lasting memories. A huge thanks to the team at Royal Ascot Golf club for all your help and support and thanks to my team who have been working hard to ensure everything is perfect and runs smoothly on the day. The weather is looking great, and it's free entry, so if you're looking for something to do this Sunday and you're in the area we'd love to see you there!

Gary Dalton liked thisGary Dalton liked thisNotice anything different about my profile? 👀 Yes, I’ve joined the green-circle club. Nothing dramatic, I still have plenty to deliver in my current role. But with 2027 approaching, it feels like the right time to start conversations about what might come next. I’m interested in senior marketing and digital leadership roles where I can bring together strategy and delivery: developing teams, improving performance, leading transformation and connecting marketing activity more clearly with commercial outcomes. My background is mainly in legal and professional services, wealth and financial services, and B2B. I’m London-based and open to permanent, fixed-term or interim opportunities, ideally with a remote or hybrid working pattern. If something comes to mind, or you think there’s someone I should speak to, I’d love to hear from you. Shares and introductions would also be very much appreciated. #OpenToWork #MarketingLeadership

Brexit hasn't given us control" My view: Nigel Farage spent three decades campaigning for Brexit, then admitted it had failed. Now Andy Burnham is saying plainly what millions can see: it has done more harm than good and has not delivered the “control” promised. The difference is that Farage blamed everyone except Brexit itself. Burnham is willing to confront the reality: trade barriers, weaker growth, fewer opportunities and less influence are not accidents - they are the predictable result of leaving our closest market and political allies. Britain does not need another leader like Keir Starmer pretending Brexit can be made to work. It needs a route back to the European Union. Is Andy Burnham the change the country needs?

Gary Dalton liked thisNo, I am not Andy Burnham’s ventriloquist! But what a surreal moment yesterday as he became the first ever Prime Minister to use a party conference speech to promise not to forget leaseholders, with new legislation by Christmas 👇Gary Dalton liked thisBurnham to end leasehold scam? Statement from Free Leaseholders 30/9/26 Andy Burnham is the first Prime Minister to use a party conference speech to address 10 million leaseholders and pledge law reform. It is hugely significant that he wants to use his political capital, at the height of his power, on this pro-people, pro-growth, anti-rentier agenda. Burnham promises devolution, but ‘taking back control’ cannot mean hiding behind another Whitehall regulator, one we know will be captured by industry and paid for through higher service charges on leaseholders. We, the people, need control of our homes, money and lives. That is the only way to bring service charges back down to earth, force managing agents to improve performance and save the flats market. We won’t accept crumbs from the table. Labour has the second biggest parliamentary majority in its 126-year history and was elected to power to END leasehold, not reform it. At a minimum, the upcoming Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill must include a universal Right to Manage and a restriction on development value, so our supporters can finally have freedom from interference and exploitation by parasitic freeholders and their managing agents. Burnham is right. This country has for too long been run for vested interests. Not in the public interest. With power held in too few hands. That is why our campaign exists. What comes forward in the leasehold legislation our PM has promised before Christmas will test whether his government really means what it says about taking back control and giving it to the people.

Gary Dalton liked thisGary Dalton liked thisSpent Saturday at DEKA Dubai with my good friend Richard Nunn. Two busy day jobs, a lot of early mornings, and plenty of moments during the race where I questioned our life choices. We somehow came away 2nd in our age group and 7th overall, which surprised us both. It got me thinking about something I've noticed over years of working with senior leaders in this region. The people who do well over the long term tend to be the ones who look after themselves outside of work. Not in an extreme way. Just making room for training, rest, family and friends, so they have something left in the tank for everything else. I don't always get that balance right myself. But days like Saturday are a good reminder of why it's worth the effort. Thanks RIch for being a great teammate, and well done to everyone who took part. #Wellbeing #DEKA

Gary Dalton liked thisGary Dalton liked thisWhen business feels quieter than you would like, the instinct is often to do more marketing. Post more. Try another platform. Spend more on ads. Start a new campaign. Copy what another business is doing. But more activity is not always the answer. The more useful questions are: Are you clear on exactly who you want to attract? Is your message speaking to the problem they actually want solved? What happens after they enquire? Do you know where enquiries are dropping away? Can you see which marketing activity is creating the right kind of customer? Effective marketing is not about being everywhere. It is about understanding what is working, what is not, and what needs to happen next. That is one of the practical areas we will work on in Business Unboxed. Across eight face-to-face sessions, we will look at your ideal customer, marketing spend, how to track the effectiveness of your activity and the simple scorecard that helps you make better decisions. Im running Business Unboxed with Mick Betteridge MBE QGM and it starts in October in Bournemouth. It's for solo owners and owners with a small team who want to run the business with more confidence and control. Message me if you would like more details

Gary Dalton liked thisGary Dalton liked thisAttended a fantastic event this morning at FTI Consulting about AI and the Future of Business with an incredibly insightful panel of Dr Paul Dongha, Rob Garlick and Lucy Morrison Phillips. What I heard is that while there is huge potential for AI to improve productivity, profitability and speed of delivery, the expectations of what it can achieve from the C-suite may not always be realistic. Adoption needs to be at a pace that suits the organisation and enables them to embed AI effectively. New capabilities and behaviors are needed, with the support of the right governance and processes. And as a society, we also need to address the changing landscape of graduate entry roles. There are roles out there that are needed, they are just different from what they were. Thanks you to Charles Charlie Palmer for moderating and FTI Consulting for hosting.
