Fascinating thread. Some folks with masters and PhDs making half of what garbage workers and bus drivers make. No wonder that so many resentful neocommunists come out of universities.

Replaced app.whynotlog.com’s Postgres database with SQLite. Page loads are now near-instant: Feels like an app on my laptop! The SQLite file is automatically backed up to Tigris, using Litestream. Even distributed SQLite is possible, with LiteFS.

Happy birthday, America! 🇺🇸 My first ‘I love this place’ experience happened back in 2015, shortly after I moved to America. I had signed up for my first half marathon in Princeton. The race started early, on a cold and foggy Sunday, winding through calm suburbs. I didn’t expect
