Create a YouTube channel

You can watch, like videos, and subscribe to channels with a Google Account. To upload videos, comment, or make playlists, you need a YouTube channel. Without a channel, you won't have a public presence on YouTube.

Create a personal channel

Follow these instructions to create a channel that only you can manage.

  1. Sign in to YouTube on a computer or the mobile site.
  2. Click your profile picture and then Settings .
  3. Click Create a new channel.
  4. Choose a profile picture, name, and Handle.
  5. Click Create channel.

Create a channel with a business or other name

Follow these instructions to create a channel that can have more than one manager or owner.

You can connect your channel to a Brand Account if you want to use a different name on YouTube than your Google Account. Learn more about Brand Accounts.

  1. Sign in to YouTube on a computer or the mobile site.
  2. Go to your channel list.
  3. Choose to create a new channel or use an existing Brand Account:
    • To create a channel, click Create a new channel.
    • To create a YouTube channel for a Brand Account that you already manage, choose a Brand Account from the list. If the Brand Account already has a channel, you can't create a new one. When you select the Brand Account from the list, you’ll be switched over to that channel.
  4. Choose a profile picture, name, and Handle.
  5. Click Create channel. This creates a new Brand Account.
  6. Learn how to add channel owners and managers.
Note: If you use YouTube with a supervised experience, you may not be able to create a channel.
