TNN has signed an MoU with DotAsia Organisation — one of the earliest advocates for the Trusted Notifier model in Asia Pacific. DotAsia is the registry operator for .Asia and .KiDS domains, serving the Asia Pacific Internet community since before the first round of new gTLDs. With over a decade of active involvement in DNS abuse mitigation — including co-developing one of the first Trusted Notifier fast-track mechanisms in the region — DotAsia has long championed structured, accountable approaches to combating online harm. What makes this partnership particularly meaningful is that DotAsia was there before TNN existed. ICANN86 in Seville is a wrap. Four days, way too much coffee, and some genuinely good conversations with registries, registrars, and important partners about making structured trust frameworks work in practice. Bonus round: TNN's Director of Policy, Manju Chen, was recognised at the Working Group Chairs Recognition as Chair of the GNSO Standing Committee on Continuous Improvement (SCCI) — a role focused on strengthening how ICANN's policy processes work in practice. TNN has signed an MOU with Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited (HKIRC) — bringing structured abuse reporting to one of Asia's most established ccTLD registries. HKIRC is the not-for-profit body designated by the HKSAR Government to administer .hk and .香港 — Hong Kong's country-code top-level domains. With a .hk user base spanning over 150 countries, HKIRC operates at the intersection of local infrastructure and global internet reach. This MOU matters because ccTLD registries are not just domain managers — they are accountability anchors for their national namespaces. Embedding Trusted Notifier principles at the registry level means abuse reports arrive through structured, verifiable channels rather than ad hoc contact, making response faster and more consistent for everyone in the chain. 🌏 TNN × WhoisXML API x Nyxlab: Bringing APAC-Focused Abuse Intelligence to the Region Through direct feedback from our Trusted Notifier partner, Nyxlab Limited — we were made aware of a persistent phishing campaign actively targeting financial institutions across the APAC region. Effective anti-abuse action must address the actual harm experienced by local economies and stakeholders. That is why TNN and Nyxlab has partnered with WhoisXML API (WXA) to conduct joint research and deep dive into a phishing pattern that systematically exploits the keywords and brand identity of Carousell and other eCommerce platforms to deceive consumers and defraud financial institutions across the region. This pattern — "Carousell" eCommerce-enabled phishing targeting APAC financial institutions — is one of the most active and underreported abuse vectors in the region today. It works precisely because it exploits consumer trust in legitimate, widely-used platforms. And it has largely flown under the radar of global threat intelligence frameworks that were never built with this region's threat environment in mind. TNN, Nyxlab and WhoisXML API are changing that. We are deepening our partnership with two concrete commitments: 🔍 Better abuse intelligence at the validation layer. WXA's vast DNS and WHOIS data infrastructure — passive DNS records, domain age signals, historical registration patterns, and infrastructure linkages — will be integrated into TNN's abuse report assessment engine. When a notifier submits a report, WXA's data will be pivotal to evaluating the validity of that claim and to the continued enhancement of our engine's accuracy and speed. 📊 Joint research built for APAC — not retrofitted to it. TNN and WXA will produce regional threat intelligence that reflects how online abuse actually manifests in this part of the world, starting with this investigation into eCommerce-platform-enabled phishing targeting banks and financial institutions across APAC. Research written for the registrars, DNS operators, brand teams, and enforcement bodies who are closest to the harm. This is consistent with TNN's foundational belief: that DNS and online abuse mitigation must involve the broader community — brands, service providers, researchers, intermediaries, and data partners working together. No single actor holds the full picture. WhoisXML API holds a significant piece of it, and we are proud to be building with them.
