Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – As has repeatedly been the case, the page is under attack by a group of temp accounts that change sourced information (specifically plug listings) without sources and without comment, and ignore all invitations to discuss. , , , , .

Since the page has been haunted by similar problems for years, I suggest indefinite semi-protection. Gawaon (talk) 07:24, 1 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Note that this may be related to the long-term SPI case of ImprovisedAlphorn7281, whose socks have repeatedly shown similar editing patterns on that page. Gawaon (talk) 07:35, 1 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IPs are back after last protection. They keep on doing these edits based "on their own count". Dieter Lloyd Wexler 17:30, 1 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – 2 vandals shortly after protection expired. Toketaatalk 18:54, 1 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: This request is for continuing, or making indefinite, the current semi-protection. Due to it facing the same problems the Maki Zen’in page was receiving (adding children and grandchildren from Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, an experimental, exploratory spin off, into the family section), I would appreciate if the semi-protection for the Yuta Okkotsu page was extended, or even made indefinite to prevent disruptive edits from continuing.

I feel this would be best to continue to preserve the integrity of the page, indefinite is preferred, but if it is in best interest to extend it a 3-4 months instead, that is also okay. TheBridgeMaker (talk) 19:02, 1 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. This falls under the category of preemptive protection, which we do not do. The Bushranger One ping only 21:48, 1 October 2026 (UTC)reply
This means I must wait until further vandalism occurs? TheBridgeMaker (talk) 21:54, 1 October 2026 (UTC)reply
@TheBridgeMaker: If vandalism returns after the current protection expires, the article can be reprotected for a longer duration. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:16, 2 October 2026 (UTC)reply
Of course. This was my prior assumption. Thank you I know it’s been a minute since anyone added anything to the family page or put anything else, my apologies for attempting to use weeks old material, and thank you for clarifying that is okay. TheBridgeMaker (talk) 00:36, 2 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The Bushranger One ping only 23:57, 1 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason:there’s a haters that go to this actor wiki page and change the picture to a bad one and old one,the picture they always place is from 2018 and the picture I placed is from 2026 and it’s more clear and not a bad picture at all,the page need to lock down at least the picture thing because the actor is getting alot of hate . Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Requesting reduction in protection to pending changes, page was inf semi-protected over 3 years ago. I wanted to add a section to the Greek alphabet talk page requesting the addition of a list of three-letter Greek letter name abbreviations, which are used in astronomical software (example: Stellarium) and websites (example: SIMBAD). But the talk page can't be edited. I no longer attempt to edit article pages myself because the Wikipedia rules are too complex for me, so now I just request changes and let the experts handle it. Thanks! Source 1: https://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/Pages/guide/chA.htx Source 2: https://archive.aavso.org/greek-letters ~2026-42668-18 (talk) 02:08, 2 October 2026 (UTC)reply
