Question

[edit]

Is it reasonable to say "Some publishers, such as Ballantine Books, would sometimes use 12-digit SBNs where the last three digits indicated the price of the book;" or should we say "would append the book price to the SBN, creating a 12 digit number". All the best: Rich Farmbrough 20:25, 3 October 2025 (UTC).Reply

I don't know, but either way I would change "would V" to "Ved". Largoplazo (talk) 20:59, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
What is V? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:05, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's a placeholder for whatever verb is there. Largoplazo (talk) 11:35, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Minor edit request

[edit]

"Figuring out how to correctly separate a given ISBN is complicated." Change the informal "figuring out" to the formal "determining". More suitable encyclopaedic tone. Thanks. ~2026-27366-46 (talk) 13:36, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I was going to follow your suggestion but got confused and decided not to take care if it yet. If a publisher has been assigned a 4-digit number, leaving three digits for the title code, that publisher cannot publish more than 1,000 works without running out of unique codes? Changing the example ISBN

[edit]

The current example ISBN (978-3-16-148410-0) was first used in 2007. In 2019 it has been assigned to a book. Should it be changed? Tadhm (talk) 06:51, 24 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

How dare they! Largoplazo (talk) 14:18, 24 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Grammar correction: change "significantly affected the country's video game industry" to "significantly affecting the country's video game industry". ~2026-52269-98 (talk) 05:26, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

 Done, thanks. DrOrinScrivello (talk) 15:47, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
