Stuart Leo shared thisOpenAI and Anthropic both filed to go public a week apart. Put the two filings side by side and you're not looking at two competitors — you're looking at two different industries. Same technology. OpenAI sells the consumer default. Anthropic sells the serious layer underneath. Google owns the road. xAI owns unconstrained. Four different wars, none in the same room. Here is how the big four are competing in the biggest business war of all time. Listen to the podcast here (12 mins) https://lnkd.in/giPCz8qX

Stuart Leo shared thisSix weeks ago I started a podcast and told almost no one. It's called Commander in Brief. Fifteen minutes, once a week. I take one real leadership decision from the news and connect it practical frameworks you can run inside your businesses. No interviews. No fluff. No guest in a hoodie explaining their funding round. Just one operator, one decision, the framework in your ear — for the person at the head of the table, not the analyst writing it up. The back catalogue so far: → Nike forgot what it was selling. It optimised where it sold and let what it sold fall behind. New Balance was up 19% in the gap. → Bolt fired its entire HR department. The question isn't whether that was right — it's whether removing something and designing something just looked identical on the day. → A Louisiana CEO handed $240M to his employees on the day he sold. Then he attached a five-year condition and said so out loud. Generosity that hides its terms is marketing. Generosity that names them is character. Six are live. A new one lands every week. If you run a business and you're tired of leadership content written for people who don't, this one's for you. https://lnkd.in/giPCz8qX

Stuart Leo posted thisYou can build real software now. You. What it's not: My 8-year-old builds video games after school. He describes what he wants, an AI writes the code, and he's playing it 5 minutes later. That's incredible. That's also not real software. What it is: Real software handles edge cases. It connects to your actual business data. It runs reliably when you're not watching. It doesn't fall over the first time two users hit it at the same time. The gap between "I prompted an AI and it made something" and "this runs my business" is enormous. And right now, most people are stuck on the wrong side of it. They call the first one "vibe coding." It's fun. It's exciting. It's how most people experience AI coding tools for the first time. But it doesn't compound. Every session starts from zero. There's no structure, no memory, no method. That's the problem I spent the last year solving. Not how to get AI to write code — it already does that brilliantly. How to build production software with AI, session after session, feature by feature, until you have something real. The core idea: stop trying to make the AI remember. Make it read. You create a simple folder structure — planning docs, working files, knowledge your AI has learned, operational checklists. A router file tells the AI what to load and where to look. Session briefs capture what happened so the next session picks up where the last one ended. Every session compounds. Session 1, the AI knows almost nothing. Session 10, it knows your patterns, your constraints, what's been tried. Session 50, you've built an organisational brain that makes every build faster and better — not because the model improved, but because the documentation did. This is how you go from vibe coding to building real software. The methodology works whether you're a developer or someone who's never written code before. The difference isn't technical ability. It's structure. Then here's the question that matters: where does it all live? You build a lead scoring system. Where's the data? Where does it connect to your contacts, your pipeline, your goals? Where do the automations run? Who hosts it? That's the problem I built WaymakerOS to solve. 20 integrated tools for daily operations — tasks, goals, documents, data tables. Then a platform to build custom apps, agents, and automations on top of that same data. You build it with your AI tool of choice. WaymakerOS runs it. Everything's connected. I wrote the full methodology up — folder structure, session briefs, phased prompts, how to work with databases and webhooks, how to deploy agents that run 24/7. It's free. Most of it applies no matter what platform you build on. But if you want everything connected — that's what WaymakerOS is for. Link in the first comment. Have you tried building something with AI? Vibe coded something fun? Or tried to build something real and hit a wall? I'd love to hear where you got stuck.

Stuart Leo posted thisI run a 9-app SaaS platform. My monthly infrastructure cost is ~$400. Vercel. Supabase. Cloudflare. Clerk. Claude. That's the stack. It used to be 20-40x that. No team. No funding. Just the right tools and 12 months of focused building. The product? WaymakerOS — a productivity suite you can build on. 20 tools for daily operations, plus a platform to deploy custom apps, agents, and automations on your business data. And now WaymakerOS builds WaymakerOS. Claude Code connects directly to the platform through MCP — creating tasks, writing documents, managing goals, deploying apps — all inside the same system our customers use. The builder uses the product. The product makes the builder faster. That loop is the whole point. The economics of building software have completely changed and most people haven't caught up yet.

Stuart Leo shared thisI've been quiet for 12 months. Here's why. Waymaker started as a performance command centre — plans, roles, goals, meetings. Everything a leadership team needs to see clearly and move together. It worked. But I kept seeing the same gap. Leaders would get clarity — nail the plan, define the roles, set the goals — then hit reality. They'd keep buying software that sort of fitted but never quite did. Every new tool added fragmentation. Nothing connected. Nothing was built for their business. What they needed wasn't more software. It was the ability to build systems as they grow — to connect, unify, and create tools completely customised to how their business actually works. Not more subscriptions. Fewer. Better ones. Then AI changed who gets to build. A finance manager with an AI coding tool can now create what used to need a $150K developer. The people who understand the business best can finally build the systems it needs. But where does that software live? Where does it connect to real data? Who runs it? That's the question I went quiet to answer. WaymakerOS — a productivity suite you can build on. 20 integrated tools for plans, goals, tasks, docs, and more — the foundation your team works from every day. Then build on it: deploy custom apps, agents, and automations on your actual business data. No DevOps. No infrastructure. Describe what you need, deploy it, it runs forever. AI connects everything intelligently. Same vision: give business owners a platform to plan, build, and scale. Fewer subscriptions. Higher quality systems. Custom software that fits your business — not the other way around. Beta is now open. If you run a team and spend too many hours on work that should be automated — or you're tired of paying for tools that almost do what you need — I'd love to show you what we've built. Stuart Leo liked thisStuart Leo liked thisI Will Not Revert to You I began working in 1996. At the time, revert had a perfectly respectable and intelligible meaning: to return to an earlier state, practice or subject. A document could revert to draft form. Software could revert to a previous version. A meeting could revert to an earlier agenda item. Property might even revert to its former owner. People, however, did not “revert to me.” Then came the early 2000s and the rapid growth of offshore software development. Suddenly my inbox began filling with assurances such as: “We will investigate and revert to you.” This was unsettling. To what former condition of me would the developers be returning? Was I to be restored from backup? Rolled back to my last stable release? Had an unauthorised change been made to Daniel in production? What they meant, of course, was: “We’ll get back to you.” The usage was not actually invented by offshore developers. It was already established in Indian English, probably growing from older British bureaucratic expressions about “reverting to a matter.” The technology industry simply provided it with an extraordinarily efficient international distribution platform. And so, like many pieces of software released before adequate user testing, it escaped into production. Today, “revert” meaning “reply” or “get back in touch” is widespread in corporate correspondence. Dictionaries now recognise it. Linguists will correctly explain that English changes through usage, that Indian English is a legitimate variety of English, and that once enough people use a word in a particular way, that meaning becomes real. I accept all of this. I do not have to like it. There is, after all, a difference between acknowledging that a usage exists and inviting it into one’s own home. Language may be democratic, but my vocabulary remains a small and mildly authoritarian jurisdiction. Accordingly, I will reply to you. I will respond to you. I will contact you, update you, come back to you or get back to you. But I will not revert to you. And if I ever promise to “revert back,” please restore me immediately to my last known good configuration.

Stuart Leo liked thisStuart Leo liked thisSaturday marked 6 months of pushing code every day. On Boxing Day 2025, I was celebrating with my family. I had just proposed to my girlfriend (now fiancée), quit my job, and taken time off to figure out what's next for my career. A few weeks earlier, Claude Opus 4.5 had been released, and like a lot of people, I got a glimpse into the future. Living in South East Queensland, work-life balance has always been encouraged. Somewhat aggressively, at times... But I had finally hit f*ck it. “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” – James Clear, Atomic Habits So I committed to one thing: Show up and build. Every day. 182 days later: > 4,378 GitHub contributions > Started from scratch 4 times > Zero days off > 3 new co-founders > 1 new startup I’m not ready to share what we’ve been building yet(hint on my profile). But I will say this: It was well worth it. 🚀

Stuart Leo liked thisStuart Leo liked thisThe CX Community in Charlotte is fantastic! Last week, I had the privilege of co-hosting a CX Leadership Breakfast exploring “From NPS to Customer Revenue Impact” at Charlotte Convention Center. We had the wonderful James Muñoz share his lessons from his earlier career at Bank of America on the importance of Trust and why that matters now. His presentation was super actionable as he shared a framework he used today as a CX leader for measuring emotion & connecting it to the bottom line, along with specific actions delegates could take to advance today, this week, this month. Thank you, James Muñoz Our first panel focused on The Financial Case for Customer Experience featuring: James Muñoz - Rob Lentz - Valerie Peck - Geriel Thornburg May. We have very clear examples of how to position the case for CX change using the lens of reducing cost, risk, and churn. The role of storytelling is key in connecting the CX problem to board members, with one example using a UX fail playback video to bring the customer into the room to illustrate the challenge. All agreed we need to go beyond NPS to connect to revenue impact, with half advocating doing away with NPS! We had excellent contributions on our second panel from Debra Rhino Carolynn Bruce - Christine Mulder, MBA on The Emotion Behind Customer Value: Building Trust from the Inside Out. The contrast in viewpoints, with panelists reflecting on their experience leading trust-building initiatives across mission-based organizations such as the YMCA and Harley-Davidson, and S&P 500 firms. And getting your team to be more customer-centric often requires literally putting on ‘white gloves’ as one panelist described the ‘white gloves’ training to create renewed empathy in truly delivering a concierge's white-gloves service. Examples of Equity Residential’s ‘Ten Winning Ways’ provided tangible examples of how principles shape not only employee culture but also how employees treat customers. What unified the discussion was the need to put NPS to work, to go beyond treating our customers as simply NPS scores, to understand what builds and erodes trust, and to make the case for change by showing the Customer Revenue Impact. This event required the support of many people to deliver. Firstly, Maxwell Turner and Marc Mandel, CCXP for their generosity in connecting me to the CX community in Charlotte – these folks are superstars! As well as our host, Debra Rhino at Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority. Also amazing to connect with customers as well as supporters and friends BARBARA ROZGONYI All of this topped off by sharing a week with an amazing group of people representing the very best of all things fintech and Northern Ireland including: Una McCallan Michael Conlon Mark Reid Karen Bradbury Barry McAleer Kate Madine Brian Dobrodziej Tom Carroll Kateryna Kozlova Cormac Quinn Susan White, CAMS

Stuart Leo liked thisStuart Leo liked thisGetting the UK M&A and IPO market update in London for tech ventures. The pre-IPO interest at the London Stock Exchange in the UK is the highest it has been in two decades. Meanwhile the M&A activity is back on the rise and growing strongly after the peak of 2021. A lot of it is driven by corporates who are unable to keep up with the pace of new tech development. I’ve heard a consistent expectation in London the last two weeks that the capital markets will unlock significantly with a decline in conflict in the Middle East and Ukraine. Thanks to Rathbones and Capital Catalyst for hosting. Tribe Global Ventures

Stuart Leo liked thisStuart Leo liked thisCardgrading app has been acquired! Built from 0 to acquisition in 100 days. My son helped me with this one and it is extra special for a lot of reasons. As a first gen immigrant, my mum and dad always taught me: 1/Get the best education (unsurprisingly, Idid an MBA). 2/Get a job as a doctor, if not at PwC (also this). 3/ Move to a big city where there is opportunity (yep London). 4/ Work hard (from 3am every day). All great advice. But when I became a parent I made a decision. In a changing world, I need to teach my kids almost the opposite. 1/Educate yourself, but learn by actually doing. Not by sitting in lectures. 2/ Don't get a "real job". Try building something that creates value, it can free you. 3/ Yes, move to a big city if you can. There is loads of opportunity there, but; 4/ If you are not going to (which I think might be the case), you need to take a lot of shots on goal early. You are going to need a lot of time, trust me. At age 11 and 12 my kids know the Gold Coast. I take them overseas every year to give them the bug, but they come home and never want to leave, so I know we need to start early with both of them. This project gave them a fast track on how to build a startup, with a nice ending (they have seen plenty of bad endings as well). Here is what they learnt: - Non obvious problems are gold. We built AI to tell card collectors if a card was worth grading before they spent the money. The app not only created demand, but also liquidity, which is super important for card price stability. - AI traffic is king. Every morning we woke up to new users we had never spoken to. New revenue we had never chased. Google did not really rank us, but those searching on ChatGPT and bing found us and bought, with conversion at around 20%. - From month 2, an AI CEO ran the business. Support, operations, the lot. I stepped away and it kept moving and got to profitable, with 85% margins. Once that happened we found a buyer. 8x revenue. 100 days from start to acquisition. 7 figure exit (if you count the .00 🤣). Enough to take a nice holiday in Europe. And, focus back on a another non obvious problem, allmeds.ai. After a tiny break.

Stuart Leo liked thisStuart Leo liked thisFrom Shenzhen to London in two weeks — here's what I've been up to on behalf of Bridgehead International Agency Ltd. I was honoured to take the stage at the Global Connect Show in Shenzhen, delivering a keynote to a room full of Chinese entrepreneurs and business leaders. My core message? Europe doesn't have a shortage of Chinese products. What it lacks, and wants, is more established Chinese brands. The difference matters enormously, and the businesses that grasp it early are the ones positioning themselves for real, lasting success in European markets. Huge thanks to Chris Pereira 彭家荣, Oliver Pearce (贝华)and Daisy Trillofor all the support during my trip. From there, London beckoned for London Tech Week. The conversations were rich, the connections genuine, and the optimism about what's being built right now was infectious. Always great seeing Sura Hussein, Conor Carey and the rest of the London & Partners team - thank you always for the support! Standing out for me personally was the HBBA GLOBAL Event at the Hungarian Embassy. A wonderful morning, a fantastic gathering, and exactly the kind of moment that makes these trips worthwhile. Susanna Toth Lee as always putting on an excellent event to help bring Hungarian businesses into the UK and rest of the world. Ivonn Szeverenyi, MD gave an excellent speech and the work her and her team are doing is outstanding, I look forward to collaborating in the near future. Here's to building bridges — literally and figuratively. 🌏🇬🇧

The "Triple Net" Mirage: WA’s Silent Yield Killer For sophisticated capital, "Gross Yield" is often a vanity metric. The only truth that matters is Net Cash Flow. The gold standard in industrial investment is the Triple Net Lease (NNN), where the tenant pays outgoings including insurance, repairs, and critically, Land Tax. But in Western Australia, a NNN structure can evaporate if it collides with the Commercial Tenancy (Retail Shops) Agreements Act 1985. The Trap: Warehouse or Shop? Many assets look industrial but are legally classified as retail. If your tenant is a tile supplier with a showroom, or a craft brewery with a tasting deck, the courts may define the premises as a "Retail Shop" regardless of what the lease title says. The Cost of the Error (Yield Leakage) If the Act applies, the landlord is statutorily restricted from passing on: - Management Fees. - Full Land Tax recovery (restricted to a "notional single holding" basis). On a standard $5M - $10M asset, this "leakage" can potentially strip $20,000 - $50,000 directly from your bottom line every year. That is a material hit to your net return on equity. The Solution: The "Pure B2B" Strategy To protect a NNN revenue stream, due diligence must go beyond the building and audit the tenant’s operations: - Operational DD: Verify the business model is predominantly B2B (logistics, manufacturing) to avoid the Act's jurisdiction. - Lease Reality: Remember that you cannot simply "contract out" of the Act. If the use is retail, the Act overrides the lease terms. - Zoning Discipline: Avoid assets in clusters that function as Large Format Retail (LFR) or Homemaker precincts if you seek pure industrial yields. The Takeaway Buying industrial property in Perth isn't just about acquiring square meters. It’s about acquiring a financial instrument that is legally watertight against yield erosion. #PerthRealEstate #IndustrialProperty #CommercialInvestment #DueDiligence #YieldStrategy Disclaimer: General information only.
