NTIA Announces Identity Digital as New Administrator of .us Top Level Domain

Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced that, following an open and competitive selection process, Identity Digital has been selected as the new administrator of .us, the United States country code Top Level Domain (usTLD). Identity Digital has been tasked with transforming the administration of .us, and its more than 2 million domain names, into a modernized, policy-rich environment that supports innovation and promotes end-user trust.

NTIA and the Department of Commerce’s Office of Acquisition Management oversee the usTLD contract, which sets policy and other requirements for .us, the online home for American businesses, individuals, and geographical localities. In April, NTIA issued a Request for Proposals for the administration of the usTLD, soliciting creative policy approaches to combatting domain name system abuse, enforcing the U.S. nexus requirement, and managing access to .us registrant data in a way that balances the interests of all stakeholders.

NTIA will work with Identity Digital to elevate the usTLD to a gold standard, best-in-class country code Top Level Domain that demonstrates American innovation, leadership, and service on behalf of its registrants.
