Cargo size matters when designing lipid nanoparticles for delivery of large gene editors
Lipid nanoparticles often show reduced performance when delivering the large messenger RNAs that encode gene editors. Screening ionizable lipids with a gene-editor-sized RNA identified LC-1, which forms a structure that enhances endosomal escape and enables efficient genome editing in the liver, lung and brain of mice.
