Okan YILDIZ Most people memorize protocols for exams. The real gap starts when they have to troubleshoot asymmetric routing, VLAN leakage, or packet loss in production at 2 AM.
No certification should be about memorising commands / actions. They should demonstrate a level of understanding of technology at any particular level.

The 'understand why a packet moves, not just run the commands' mindset is what made networking click for me. Memorizing show ip route is useless if you don't understand what the output is telling you about how the network made that routing decision.
