Communications doesn't drive growth because it makes organizations more visible. It drives growth because it helps people understand. 🤝 Organizations don't earn trust, attract customers, secure funding, or grow simply because they have something valuable to offer. They grow when they communicate that #value in a way their audiences can connect with. Whether it's: 🏛️ A municipality building public trust 💙 A nonprofit inspiring donors 💻 A technology company simplifying complex solutions 🎟️ An event creating anticipation 🏢 A franchise delivering a consistent brand 📈 A small business strengthening community relationships Growth begins with understanding. That's why communications is no longer just a support function. It's a #strategic capability that shapes perception, builds #credibility, and influences the decisions people make every day. What is the ROI of investing in your brand? 🧐 At the highest level, it makes EVERYTHING you do more efficient and more effective. It means your audience understands you, connects with you, and turns to you when they have a need. In business, it means that you command a higher price and ward off competitive threats. For nonprofits, it lifts your fundraising efforts and helps you connect with stakeholders. For everyone, it helps set the stage for a more positive internal culture because your team members bond over your vision and mission. Who wouldn't want all of these results? "How long should our fundraising video be?" I get this question constantly. Here's my rough guide: • Social media: short. Seconds, not minutes. • Lead-in before a keynote at a gala: 3 minutes • Video used in place of a keynote speaker: 4–4.5 minutes. Maybe longer. But here's the real secret: length isn't really about runtime. It's about... Story. If you tell a real story — (based on the 4 C's) a Character with a Challenge who gains the Cooperation of your org, to achieve a Change/result — your audience won't check the time. They'll forget to. And that's not hyperbole. It's experience. It's the truth. I've seen it countless times. When you tell a story, you invite your audience into an emotional experience. And that's what your audience wants. They want to feel like they're a part of your organization's work. Your impact. Your results. When a video spouts pure information, stats, and organizational history, that's when the presentation starts to feel long, regardless of the actual runtime. Tell a story. The clock takes care of itself.

💡What are your organisation's objectives? Not your marketing objectives. Not your social media targets. Your actual organisational objectives. ✅ Recruiting volunteers or staff? ✅ Attracting corporate partners and sponsors? ✅ Increasing fundraising income? ✅ Raising awareness of your services? ✅ Driving ticket sales or event attendance? ✅ Building trust with funders and stakeholders? ✅ Influencing decision-makers? ✅ Demonstrating impact to secure future investment? Too often, organisations create marketing plans in isolation from their business plans. But marketing isn't the objective. It's the vehicle that helps you achieve it. Before creating content, launching campaigns, or investing in advertising, ask yourself- How does our marketing strategy support our organisational goals? Every piece of content should have a purpose. Every campaign should support a wider goal. The strongest marketing strategies aren't built around channels. They're built around organisational objectives. So, what's the number one objective your organisation is working towards right now? #MarketingStrategy #CommunicationsStrategy #NonprofitMarketing #CharityMarketing #BusinessPlanning #Fundraising #Partnerships #Leadership

We’re throwing it back to one of our favorite written pieces from our Chief Strategy Officer, Rachel Farha: “In Times of Uncertainty, Creativity Isn’t a Luxury — It’s a Strategy.” And somehow, it feels even more relevant today. We’re seeing uncertainty across the event space: ▪️Budgets feel tighter than ever. ▪️Donor engagement takes more work. ▪️Sponsorship relationships are harder to build and retain. ▪️Capturing (and keeping) an audience’s attention feels like an uphill battle. The natural response may be to scale everything back, repeat what worked before or hit pause until things feel more certain. But this is exactly when creativity matters most. Creativity does not have to mean a bigger budget, a more elaborate production or adding something flashy just to get attention. It means looking at the challenge differently. How can your event create more value for sponsors? How can your program make donors feel more connected to the mission? How can one powerful story accomplish more than ten slides of information? How can every part of the experience work harder toward the same goal? When resources are limited, intention becomes even more important. The answer is not always to do more. Sometimes it is to rethink what you are doing, focus on what matters and find a more meaningful way to connect. It's time to get creative. Communication is at the heart of development. Throughout July, Natik is focusing on one essential topic: communication. Development work depends on constant collaboration among partners, staff, board members, donors, and allies. Everyone brings a unique perspective, and understanding what information matters most to each group helps us communicate with greater purpose and impact. That's why we're creating a communication survey, which we'll share in next Friday's email. We'll be asking both our donors and our grassroots partners what they'd most like to hear, learn, and share. One question we're especially excited about: Why do you choose to support people you've never met? Our partners are genuinely curious about the people who make their work possible. This feedback is part of a broader effort to strengthen Natik's communication, fundraising, and partnership model. As a small organization, we continually refine our systems so we can invest more effectively in the local organizations leading change. Stories, lessons learned, and meaningful data all play a role in demonstrating impact. Your input will help us determine what information is most valuable to share. We hope you'll participate in next week's survey. Your perspective is an important part of Natik's future

Your team might be your most underused marketing channel. 📣 When employees and volunteers share your content, it reaches networks your brand page never could. Personal profiles often outperform official pages, and the message carries built-in credibility because people connect with people, not logos. Want to encourage it? Start by making sharing easy with ready-to-post content and images. Celebrate the team members who participate. And keep it voluntary, because authentic enthusiasm always beats mandatory posting. Nonprofits, this is gold for you. Your volunteers are passionate storytellers, so invite them to share why they serve. Does your team share your organization's content? #EmployeeAdvocacy #VolunteerEngagement #H2HConsulting

The best direct mail programs aren't built one mailing at a time. They're built on a strategy that knows where the file has been, where it's going, and what it takes to get it there. ➡️ Acquisition that feeds the long-term donor pipeline, not just the current quarter. ➡️ Cultivation that moves donors from first gift to second, second to sustainer, sustainer to major. ➡️ Creative that sounds uniquely like the organization ---- not like every other letter in the mailbox. This is the difference between executing mailings and partnering to shape the future of the program. At Dominion Strategy Group, we don't take on clients we can't serve well. But for the organizations we do serve, we show up as a true extension of the team ---- thinking ahead, asking hard questions, and treating every mailing as part of a larger story. If that sounds like the kind of partnership you've been looking for, we'd welcome the conversation. Dominion Strategy Group
