Now that you have seen the complete picture of networking, it's a lot, isn't it? Let's investigate the different topics one by one, starting with the service. So a service is a method for exposing an application that consists of one or more replicated pods. Wow, that sounds too complicated. What is a service doing? A service is providing a front-end IP address that allows users to access pods. And you need it, because in replicated pods, you have multiple pods. And how would your user ever be able to make a choice between the different pod instances? That's why you are using services. Now, services automatically register with the Kubernetes internal DNS server. And as a result, all Kubernetes applications can access all services by name. And that is convenient. And different types of service are available. We have already talked about that when I was talking you through the animation in the beginning of this lesson.
