We're hiring: Vice President of Property Operations | Defined Property Management
Los Angeles, CA · Full-Time · Reports to the CEO
Defined Property Management is an institutional-grade, vertically integrated multifamily property management platform. We're looking for a senior operating leader to turn strategy into consistent, measurable execution across our portfolio.
THE ROLE
You'll directly lead Property Operations, Leasing & Marketing, and Resident Experience, and serve as the connective executive across Accounting, R&M, BI/Data, and new portfolio onboarding. You own portfolio outcomes: occupancy, collections, renewals, retention, leasing velocity, turn times, and compliance.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Set and enforce consistent operating standards, cadences, and accountability across every community
- Use portfolio dashboards to find root causes, assign corrective action, and drive follow-through
- Oversee leasing and marketing performance from lead response through move-in, and advance scalable tools like self-guided tours
- Strengthen resident service, renewals, and escalation practices
- Lead the operational side of new portfolio transitions so every launch is ready on day one
- Partner with the CEO on new business: pro formas, staffing models, proposals, and client presentations, and make sure we can deliver what we pitch
- Build and develop leaders in a high-accountability culture grounded in our values: Clarity, Culture, and Camaraderie
- Champion AppFolio, SOPs, and change management, so adoption is measured rather than assumed
WHAT YOU BRING
- 10+ years of progressive multifamily or residential operations leadership with multi-site or portfolio responsibility
- A track record of leading through other leaders across a complex, growing portfolio
- Experience building or leading strong centralized support operations (shared services, centralized leasing, or similar) is a huge plus
- Experience building pro formas, operating models, and executive-level presentations
- Comfort moving between strategy and hands-on operational detail
- California/LA multifamily and regulatory knowledge, and AppFolio experience, strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent senior experience considered
COMPENSATION
Base salary: $165,000 – $180,000, plus a performance bonus and medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
If you're a disciplined operator who creates clarity, builds trust, and drives follow-through, I'd like to hear from you. DM me to apply.
