A privately held food business is seeking a Financial Controller to join their organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent corporate financial strategy through a range of avenues such as managing and allocating accounts, financial statements, and tax data. The financial controller in food manufacturing directs plant-level accounting, manages standard cost variances, and oversees regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include cost accounting, inventory tracking, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Inventory & Cost Accounting: Track landed costs (shipping, duties, tariffs, and customs fees), manage inventory valuations, and reconcile stock records. [1]
Financial Reporting: Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end or year-end close processes. [1]
Cash Flow & Treasury: Manage foreign exchange risks, banking relationships, and cash flow forecasting to handle large international vendor payments. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Compliance & Controls: Ensure compliance with GAAP or IFRS, sales taxes, and food import regulatory financial standard
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience: 5 to 10 years in accounting or financial management, with specific background in food, beverage, CPG, manufacturing, or import/distribution.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (such as NetSuite) and strong knowledge of landed cost accounting.
Must have manufacturing or distribution industry experience
