Nikesh Arora shared thisThe meeting at the WH on SI was an epic moment. The good and the great of AI (SI) showed up from all over, I was just happy to be in the room. First and foremost I felt that @realDonaldTrump showed us what a true leader is. He was thoughtful and focussed on ensuring that SI was developed at pace and was going to be deployed safely and securely. He encouraged the room to focus on the positive impacts of technology, demonstrate the true benefits of the technology for each and every one out there. His message was clear - engage with communities get grassroots support for what is going to be a pivotal moment for America and the world. He was statesmanlike and clearly focussed on the US winning the SI race. The focus needs to be how to ensure what is being built is safe and useful. There are enough laws and regulatory frameworks that allow for effective governance we don't need more. What we need is: 1. Accountability by the labs 2. we need SI to have the right APIs available for cybercontrols and third party governance and 3. We need equal focus on diffusion of this technology in a useful and effective manner. We all walked away with continued and renewed enthusiasm to bring on the SI future. When you get cyber companies focussing on furthering a technology you have already moved the needle.Nikesh Arora shared thisWhen you realize your CEO Nikesh Arora is representing Cybersecurity at the Presidential AI lunch. Nikesh Arora shared thisThank you. I thought of posting this on LinkedIn, it was over their character limit. They need to work on it LinkedInNikesh Arora shared thisNikesh Aroraa raises an important and provocative point: in the race to dominate AI, calls for "pacing" may be driven as much by commercial strategy and liability management as by genuine safety concerns. My perspective from advising boards, CEOs, and executive teams is slightly different. The most important question is not whether AI development should slow down. It is whether governance, cybersecurity, resilience, and accountability can keep pace with innovation. History teaches us that breakthrough technologies rarely wait for regulators to catch up. The winners are seldom those who move the slowest. They are the organizations that build trust while moving at speed. From a boardroom perspective, three realities are emerging: ✅ AI leadership is becoming a governance issue, not just a technology issue. ✅ Cybersecurity is becoming the first line of AI risk management. As models become more capable, the attack surface expands. Boards must oversee not only AI adoption but also AI-enabled threats, model integrity, data protection, supply chain risk, and operational resilience. ✅ Trust will become the ultimate competitive advantage. Every organization will have access to powerful AI. Not every organization will have the governance discipline, security posture, and oversight mechanisms required to deploy it responsibly at scale. I am less concerned about whether AI development slows down. I am more concerned about whether enterprises, regulators, and boards develop the oversight capabilities necessary to keep pace with its acceleration. The boardrooms creating durable value from AI are no longer asking: "How much AI are we deploying?" They are asking: "How do we create enterprise value from AI while protecting customers, employees, intellectual property, and shareholder interests?" The next frontier of AI leadership will not be model capability alone. It will be the ability to balance innovation, cybersecurity, governance, accountability, and trust at scale. That's where the real race is being won. #KSgems #KhwajasTake #AI #Cybersecurity #AIGovernance #BoardLeadership #RiskManagement #DigitalTrust #BoardOfDirectors #ResponsibleAI #CyberResilience #Leadership

Nikesh Arora posted thisSecurity and IP implications of AI I think we can all conclude the following from the last few months of developments - 1. Not using AI could and will become an existential issue for both individual users and enterprises. 2, Enterprise adoption will be cautious while individual users are definitely going to race ahead, try different use cases, build agents, push the models to their limits (although it seems harder to do, unless you live in an AI Lab) 3. Employees and developers will take matters in their own hands since they will find their cautious enterprises aren't moving fast enough. 4. Agents are showing their prowess, uncontrolled, unrestrained agents with a "capture the flag mentality" are showing us the edge cases which demonstrate the negative outcome possiblities of these scenarios. 5. It is impossible to plan for the next 6 months since we can't fathom where technology will evolve to. These activities will cause adoption sans security..... AI has deep implications on security in the future. In this environment security companies need to live on the bleeding edge, anticipating scenarios, building framework solutions so we have a shot at securing future outcomes. Which we all are. Some useful pointers to people planning their AI implementation: 1. Secure what you plan to use, try not to secure the future - no products for security can be created unless we see the future unfold. The future is moving fast, so are we. 2. Most of the coding usage is unsecured. Make sure your coding is secure. Most enterprise AI apps do not offer a secure instance (this is your IP living in their instance)! SECURE your codex, cursor, Claude code Harvey, glean, legora instances now! 3. Do not try and build your own - I have already experienced enterprise customers building gateways and tools for agents - security companies have thousands of specialists working on this, leverage them, Focus on AI adoption instead. Partner to secure. 4. Securing agents is a complex problem - securing the agentic lifecycle - real time inspection and kill switches are key. Don't fall in the discovery and posture trap (Visibility - process understanding - intent interpretation - ability to stop inline are key tenets to the agentic lifecycle - not identity, posture and inventory - those are mere building blocks) 5. Only use enterprise protected models, single tenant, firewalled, inspected implementations - this is your IP you are playing with - LLMs have shown they will cross boundaries to capture the flag - you think your IP is safe? Once you train an unprotected model with your IP - you can't reverse the trade. 6. Perhaps the most important one - do not use a security tool built by the same person who is selling you the AI implementation, historically IT vendors are different from security vendors. You need an enterprise solution for security and it must work on your diverse infrastructure. Use a pure play security partner. Happy building with AI.

Nikesh Arora shared thisEric Futoran thank you for accepting to be part of the Palo Alto Networks family. I am always in awe of founders who against all odds find a market opportunity and relentlessly build to delight the customer. You have done that in spades, I can't take away the "sad" part of your emotion. But I can say, that together the teams will be stronger and will be able to provide a more comprehensive observability solution to customers in the age of AI. I look forward to working alongside you, Martin Mao and your team to make the partnership and integration a success. Welcome.Nikesh Arora shared thisToday is my last post for Embrace and my first at Palo Alto Networks. The act of being acquired is simultaneously both a happy and sad occasion. *Happy* I get to join an amazing team in a rare leadership position at the center of the AI disruption. I'm super excited for an entirely new set of stimuli - a primary driver of my happiness - through a new product set, a platformization strategy, and a scale I could not have imagined. *Sadness* This is the part founders never write or admit: a successful exit is not the mark of success. Success is the way my team expressed their emotions on learning of the acquisition. Of course they were excited! Their lives had just changed, professionally and economically. They were about to embark on a new set of challenges! Even so, they felt sadness because the team and culture they had built and invested in was about to transition. The word I heard the most was "family". At no other company I've founded have I seen a team bound like a family. And that "family" is sincerely what I'm most proud of. (Palo Alto Networks is fortunate to have you all!) Immeasurable thanks to Fredric Newberg, Andrew Tunall, Kathryn Blake, Victoria Stepp, Vitaliy Fuks, and all my family members. Thanks to my extended family - Aaron Jacobson, Dan Wright, Baris Aksoy, Hadley Harris, George Ugras, and Dana Settle. And thanks to my new family - Martin Mao, Nikesh Arora, Lee Klarich, Tim Van Tuyle. In the immortal words of Embrace: LFG!!

Nikesh Arora shared thisThank you Molly O'Shea for coming to Palo Alto Networks and doing your research and spending the time :)! Loved having you.Nikesh Arora shared thisNikesh Arora is the Chairman and CEO of Palo Alto Networks, the cybersecurity giant that has grown from roughly $18 billion in market cap when he joined to around $300 billion today. We sat down at Palo Alto Networks to discuss why Nikesh believes the AI cybersecurity boom is only beginning, how companies will defend themselves against increasingly powerful AI attacks and rogue agents, and why the time between discovering a vulnerability and exploiting it is collapsing. Nikesh also explains why he signed Jensen Huang’s recent open-source AI letter, what the rise of autonomous agents means for enterprise security, and why he believes the entire software industry will be rewritten over the next decade. We also go inside the operating playbook behind Palo Alto Networks’ rise, including 40+ acquisitions in eight years, the $28 billion CyberArk deal, Nikesh’s “paranoia” about disruption, hiring AI-native talent through hackathons, and the lessons he took from Larry Page at Google and Masayoshi Son at SoftBank.

Nikesh Arora liked thisNikesh Arora liked thisReflecting on this phenomenal Fortune profile on Nikesh Arora , I'm reminded of why I took the leap to join Palo Alto Networks. When you work with Nikesh, "business as usual" doesn't exist. He challenges our entire product and engineering org every day, demanding that we think faster, execute better, and show up smarter to match the speed of the AI landscape. He doesn't sugarcoat the truth, and that discipline is exactly what allows us to innovate at scale and stay ahead of zero-day threats. It’s intense, high-octane work, and there is honestly nobody else I would like to be on this rocketship with as we build the defense against the dark side of AI. This article, co-authored by Vardaan Ahluwalia and me lays out India's significant new Research Development and Innovation Fund initiative in the context of other successful interventions: when governments and the private sector work together, they can make a transformative difference to deep technology entrepreneurship. Equally, initiatives to help manage financial risk should be followed by structural reforms in areas ranging from intellectual property regulation, ease of clearances for start-ups, tax rationalization in capital gains and options that helps start-ups attract talent, and a visa regime that attracts leading global researchers. https://lnkd.in/gk92YSZa

Vivek Raghavan, co-founder of Sarvam AI, the company that just shipped India's first foundation model trained from scratch, warned yesterday that India risks becoming a "digital colony" if it does not build foundational AI itself. At the same summit, JioStar, India's largest media conglomerate, partnered with OpenAI. I recently wrote on Substack about why this keeps happening: "Indians Rule Big Tech. Why Can’t India Build?" (https://lnkd.in/ewQBMCYf). The structural forces are thirty years deep. Source: The Economic Times (https://lnkd.in/eGEgSb95)

From our PearX S25 cohort, meet Pravāh, the AI-native operating system for the electric grid When Mohak Mangal, Dhruv Suri, and Aman Gupta looked at the strain on the U.S. electric grid, they saw a system pushed to its limits. Exploding demand and unpredictable supply have made blackouts increasingly common. This costs the economy more than $150B a year, a number that could 10x in the next five years. Mohak Mangal and team founded Pravāh to help fix it. Their platform helps utilities and grid operators make real-time decisions on load, generation, and congestion, reducing blackout risks, optimizing power procurement, and bringing much-needed stability to the backbone of modern life. We’re proud to support the Pravāh team as they take on one of the toughest and most important infrastructure challenges of our time.

As AI workloads eat up global computing supply, DRAM prices are surging like never before—creating major challenges for teams trying to plan out their data center spend. One of my portfolio companies, Mext, is addressing the largest cost component in the datacenter: server memory (DRAM). From being on the board of Redis for the last twelve years, I’ve learned a lot about the various aspects of this problem and approaches to solving them. Mext found a breakthrough, using new AI techniques, for dramatically reducing the amount of server-DRAM required to run applications, all while maintaining performance. It intelligently manages the server’s memory, keeping hot pages (i.e., those in use by applications) in fast DRAM and offloading cold pages (i.e., those less used) to a much less expensive memory tier (e.g., NVMe Flash). Key to the approach is ensuring cold memory pages that are about to be accessed by an application are back in DRAM before the application needs them or notices that they were gone. This is done without modifications to the application or the OS – so it can run in the cloud or on-premise. Mext thus allows applications to either run using less DRAM or keep their DRAM footprint but do more with it.
