Today’s Real Estate Roundtable was a tremendous success as we welcomed senior real estate leaders from some of the country’s most iconic retailers to campus for an engaging discussion on the future of retail and regional malls. Our final Roundtable of the year was especially meaningful as it marked our very first Roundtable hosted on campus - a wonderful opportunity to showcase the University of Cincinnati and the Real Estate Center.
A special thank you to
Vincent Corno, Senior VP of Real Estate at DICK’S Sporting Goods,
Chuck DiGiovanna, Senior VP of Real Estate at Macy’s, and
Chris Johnson, Principal Financial Officer at Dillard’s, for sharing their expertise and perspectives on today’s evolving retail landscape.
A few key themes emerged throughout the discussion. The panelists shared that retail is showing real strength right now, with food & beverage, entertainment, and experiential components continuing to drive traffic and engagement. They also emphasized that the future of successful regional malls will increasingly center around lifestyle-focused experiences. Despite the changes happening across the industry, all three panelists expressed a very positive outlook for the future of retail.
It was also a bittersweet morning as this event served as the final Roundtable for our Executive Director,
Carl Goertemoeller. Carl’s leadership and impact on the Real Estate Center have been tremendous, and while he will certainly be missed, this was truly a fitting way to close out the year — with a great conversation centered on the future of retail real estate.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make today such a memorable event. We hope to see you at our Annual Dinner on June 4th - if you haven’t registered yet, here’s the link ...
