If you've ever had the chance to spend three days with a few thousand colleagues, this non-stop, go go go, see everything, talk to everybody energy will feel very familiar. Our 2026 General Assembly was... a lot. But in a good way. In the *best* way. It's interesting, we come together every day, across the country, for a shared purpose -- connecting people. To each other and to themselves. But we rarely have the chance to all *get* together. To recommit, face-to-face, to the work we do and the reasons we do it. It's been a week and we're just now fully processing everything we saw and learned and felt and said and heard, but it's safe to say that we all left rejuvenated, invigorated, and reminded just how many people have welcomed us into their communities and put their trust in us. So if we seem a little extra excited to see you come through the doors this week, it's because we are. It's because we've just seen what can be accomplished when a few thousand of us come together. And now we're picturing what we can accomplish when we ALL come together. Special thanks to Daxko Chase and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for their support in making it happen! PS-we highly recommend puppies.

About us
For 175 years, the Y has been a place where meaningful connections help build stronger communities. With locations in more than 10,000 neighborhoods across the country, we are part of everyday life, helping people work toward their goals, build relationships, and discover a true sense of belonging. For children and teens, this means early learning programs, afterschool activities, youth sports, swim lessons, and camp experiences that nurture confidence, skill development, and healthy growth. For adults, the Y provides comprehensive wellness programs, chronic disease prevention initiatives, group exercise classes, and opportunities for connection that support an active and balanced life. Across communities, we help meet critical needs through youth meal programs, community food distributions, housing assistance, safety initiatives, outreach for older adults, and services that connect people with essential resources. No matter who you are or where you are in your journey, there is a place for you here. Explore the milestones that have shaped our story for nearly two centuries: 175.ymca.org Find your pathway at the Y. It's hard to get YMCAs from all over the country in one place, but when we can make it happen great things result. So big shout out to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for their support in making our 2026 General Assembly happen. Their sponsorship made it possible for us to collectively reflect on our first 175 years and envision what the next 175 will look like. Sure, there was some fun (see attached video evidence) but there was also contemplation and collaboration, fellowship and friendship, learning and listening. And all of it so that when we disperse and return home to our communities we can continue to give you the best that we have to offer. #NoPlaceLikeThisPlace #y175

Like millions of kids across the country, Hallie found a community at the YMCA. And that only happens with the help of all of our supporters. Whether you're a member, a donor, or a volunteer, your generosity gives kids like Hallie the chance to get in the water, get coached, and find their passions. Thank you. 💙 #y175 #noplacelikethisplace

Legend indeed. On the court, off the court, and in our hearts. Thank you, Magic.
I met a true legend in Lansing, Michigan, this past weekend. The YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing hosted a gala to mark its 150th anniversary and celebrate a hometown hero and former Y kid. I was fortunate enough to meet and take a photo with the guest of honor. In addition to raising $800,000 to support scholarships and facility improvements for the Lansing YMCA, the gala was an opportunity to thank Earvin "Magic" Johnson and his family for their incredible support. In honor of Johnson and his family's contributions to the community, the Lansing Y announced that it is renaming one of its branches the Earvin “Magic” Johnson YMCA and establishing a sustaining legacy fund to provide scholarships to future generations. Thank you, Magic, for sharing your Y story with others and for partnering with the Lansing YMCA to invest in Lansing’s young people.

To mark our 175th, we pulled some old styles out of storage and went full nostalgia mode. It's a fun look back at how far we've come, and everything's only available through the end of the year. Like they say, if you want to go far, go together. And that's what we're doing with AstraZeneca. Together we're expanding access to cancer education and earlier detection around the country.
I sat down with Mohit Manrao of AstraZeneca at Aspen Ideas Health to talk about community-based health and how trusted organizations like the Y can help people take the first step on their journey toward improved health and well-being. You can hear our conversation in the latest episode of “That’s Understandable” from AstraZeneca. Stay tuned for more about YMCA of the USA's new partnership with AstraZeneca as we work together to expand cancer education and detection efforts across the country. Gen Z is feeling increasingly disengaged from their schoolwork. Y-USA's Curtis Lemieux explains how we're addressing this and why creating opportunities for kids to make real-world connections is just as important as good grades. https://bit.ly/3TEvGzw

Happy International Lifeguard Appreciation Day! 💙 Whether they're teaching water safety, building relationships with families, or stepping in when every second counts, lifeguards help create safer, stronger communities every day. Meet some of the dedicated lifeguards whose impact extends far beyond the pool deck and learn why this work is so much more than a summer job.
