  • A Wilson Sonsini team led by Bradley Doline and Betty Rosenbaum is pleased to have advised Foundational on their £8.2 million in pre-seed financing! Foundational is a London-based space technology company with plans to use the financing to automate and scale Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR), the technique that pins down the position of satellites and debris to millimeter precision. Learn more about the transaction: https://lnkd.in/gA5K9V_k

Today we’re proud to announce that Foundational is out of stealth with £8.2 million in pre-seed funding. We're bringing Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) into commercial use by modernising the infrastructure behind it. Low Earth orbit is getting crowded, and the infrastructure used to track satellites hasn't kept pace. While SLR is the most precise way to measure a satellite's position, it is currently underpinned by ageing equipment, limited funding and a shrinking pool of technical expertise, largely confined to government and scientific facilities. We are changing that. Backed by Inflection, BACKED VC, Final Frontier, Adjacent, and Type One Ventures, we're building a vertically integrated approach, laying the foundations for more accessible, scalable tracking infrastructure that brings together three key components: Retroreflectors: Flight-proven hardware with over 16 years of heritage across supported missions. Automated ground stations: Making precise laser measurements accessible and scalable. Data platform: Turning raw measurements into precise orbit data, delivered directly to operators via API. We're already working with constellation operators, the European Space Agency - ESA; multiple UK government departments and agencies; established aerospace manufacturers; research institutes around the world; and NewSpace companies developing commercial space technologies. This is just the beginning. Link in comments below.

  • Recently, firm client Kanu AI, a platform that turns everyday employee tasks into custom software for enterprises, announced $11.7 million in funding! A Wilson Sonsini team led by Jonathan Chan was pleased to advise Kanu AI on the transaction. To learn more about the advising team and how Kanu AI serves enterprises across a range of verticals, including commercial real estate, insurance, financial services, and technology, visit: https://lnkd.in/gAU_jUex

We raised $11.7M to bring AGI to the enterprise. Every enterprise has spent decades building up knowledge. Some of it lives in Salesforce, SharePoint, Outlook, spreadsheets, PDFs, maps and databases. But a huge amount of it just lives in people's heads. Your best salesperson knows when they can push on price. Your COO remembers why you made a decision three years ago. Someone on your team can look at a number and immediately say, "That doesn't look right." Software has the data, and people know what to do with it. I think that line is about to disappear. Kanu AI understands your company well enough to know what has happened before, how your team thinks, what is changing right now, and what might be worth doing next. Not because you sat down and programmed all of it. Because Kanu learned by working alongside your team. Imagine Daniel joins your company tomorrow. He's working on his first deal and Kanu tells him: "This customer has historically been pretty flexible on price. I'd start higher on the first offer. Here's what happened the last few times." Daniel never searched for that. He didn't even know there was something to search for. Kanu just knew it would be useful. That's the part I'm most excited about. When someone on your team corrects Kanu, it learns. When something changes in the market, it notices. When one person figures out a better way to do something, everyone else should be able to benefit from it. And none of this should require your employees to become AI experts. They shouldn't have to spend their day building agents, writing skills or figuring out which model to use. Your company shouldn't have to learn how to use AI. AI should learn how your company works. We're already seeing the beginning of this. For one national customer, work that used to take weeks now takes minutes. Our $11.7M seed round was led by Trilogy Equity Partners, with participation from a16z speedrun, BMW i Ventures, Accel and more. A huge thank you to our team, customers, investors and everyone who believed in us early. I couldn't be more excited about what comes next.

We’ve raised $10m to build the first world models for extreme physics and accelerate the technologies that will define the 21st century. Our backers include BACKED VC, Lunar Ventures, Seraphim Space, MMC Ventures and SOSV, as well as other funds, founders and hyperscaler directors. Alongside AI, this century will be shaped by rockets, fusion reactors and fabs. Building the next generation means understanding and controlling increasingly complex physics. Today’s tools cannot keep pace: when a single simulation or experiment takes days, even the best engineering teams can explore only a fraction of the possibilities. At Zenithon, we’re building models to explore a million design points in the time it takes to simulate one, and to learn directly from real-world experiments. Engineers can search beyond familiar designs, discover new levels of performance and keep improving how their machines operate. The team, co-founded by Alex Higginbottom and Abetharan A. , brings together researchers behind foundational breakthroughs in machine learning for physics and a wider team from leading labs globally. We’re proud to be building this together. Our mission is to keep human innovation on an exponential path, even as the technologies we build become more complex. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eg5h7guT
