One of the clearest themes at Sibos this week is how much the conversation has shifted in just a year. Twelve months ago, discussions around AI and tokenization were largely focused on proofs of concept and pilot programs. Today, the focus is on execution: how to deploy these technologies at scale and with the right governance. The tech itself is no longer the hard part. Firms are increasingly focused on controls, interoperability and ensuring systems can work together effectively. Just as important is rethinking operating models to support adoption in a secure, scalable and sustainable way. One of the biggest differences at this year's #Sibos is that the conversation has shifted from theory to execution. In previous years, discussions around digital assets focused on their potential. This year, the focus has been on practical applications, real use cases and where there is a clear commercial rationale. Another theme that came through consistently was interoperability. As digital asset markets continue to develop, firms are increasingly focused on how different platforms, networks and infrastructures can work together. That’s why State Street built our Digital Asset Platform into our core servicing and made it agnostic to blockchain and the cash payment leg, so clients don’t have to manage fragmentation themselves. #StateStreetAtSibos #Sibos2026

It was great to be at #Sibos2026 this week and hear a wide range of perspectives on the future of banking. One of the key themes throughout the week has been the focus on resiliency, and particularly the importance of that, given the threats that face us today and put our ecosystem at risk. We're in a unique situation where we're seeing the convergence of frontier AI enabled cyber threats with an increasing geopolitical threat, at the same time as we're seeing the increasing complexity of our third-party supply chains. It's critical that we all continue to work together to protect the ecosystem from these threats and ensure through our resiliency programs that we have the ability to deflect stress so that we can continue to provide the services to our customers and our clients and meet our obligations in the broader financial ecosystem. I enjoyed the opportunity to share my observations on how the industry is evolving, the opportunities ahead and the role innovation will play in shaping the next phase of financial services.
