Next week I'm heading to Austin for my first SmartSense by Digi LIVE. Our design and engineering teams at Kaizen have been working with SmartSense for years, but for me this is the first time showing up in person. The last few weeks have been all about getting our booth ready, and a big thanks to Jeff Eltringham, Abby Allison, and Daniel Tiernan for making that so easy on their end. Looking forward to finally meeting everyone and talking to the people who use the product every day. If you're going, come say hi at our booth (:
We’re one week away from SmartSense Live 2026 in Austin! Bruno, Valentina, and Martin will be there supporting SmartSense by Digi at its first conference open to the public. They’re looking forward to meeting operations, food safety, and compliance leaders and hearing how AI is changing their day-to-day work. If you’ll be in Austin that week, send them a DM or stop by our booth for a quick chat (and some swag).

#Cargotheft has become an increasingly coordinated and sophisticated threat. In fact, 81% of respondents from a SmartSense by Digi report it has become more organized in recent years, while 79% say their organization is more concerned about cargo theft today than ever before. https://lnkd.in/g72jqsEi

Read Phillip Brink's FreightWaves article, "40% of loss prevention professionals report annual cargo theft losses topping $1M." SmartSense survey finds fraudulent pickups and carrier impersonation lead concerns as cargo theft grows more organized. https://lnkd.in/eCS48gCV

“Another big one is you have coolers that go high at night sometimes, which I didn't know this until I was monitoring them, go high and they've ran high for hours and hours and hours and then they cool down. So, the staff doesn't even know that their food was adulterated in the night, same with milk coolers we've had where milk coolers ran super high and then it freezes itself. Well, they don't know that milk sat for 8 hours above 41 degrees because the cooler corrects itself the next day. So, if you're just writing a paper log, you're just getting a moment in time. You don't know what happened in the night when you weren't there.” - Willow Kriegel, Director of Nutrition at West Des Moines Community Schools

Cargo theft isn't just trucks disappearing anymore. It's organized, it's technical, and it's getting worse. SmartSense just released our 2026 Cargo Theft Report, based on a survey of 150 U.S. loss prevention and ORC leaders. A few numbers that stood out to me: - 81% say cargo theft has become more organized in recent years - 71% name GPS jamming and spoofing as a top concern - 40% report annual losses of $1M or more - Only 37% regularly report incidents and work with law enforcement That GPS number hits close to home. My team is helping to build the shipment tracking side of our platform, and the hard part isn't just knowing where something is. It's knowing what "normal" looks like for a route and flagging a deviation or an unexpected stop fast enough that someone can still act on it. Proud of the work we're doing here. https://lnkd.in/gEHVueEc #CargoTheft #SupplyChain #IoT #LossPrevention #AssetProtection
