About us
Siemens Energy is one of the world’s leading energy technology companies. The company works with its customers and partners on energy systems for the future, thus supporting the transition to a more sustainable world. With its portfolio of products, solutions and services, Siemens Energy covers almost the entire energy value chain – from power generation and transmission to storage. The portfolio includes conventional and renewable energy technology, such as gas and steam turbines, hybrid power plants operated with hydrogen, and power generators and transformers. A majority stake in the wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) makes Siemens Energy a global market leader for renewable energies. An estimated one-sixth of the electricity generated worldwide is based on technologies from Siemens Energy. Siemens Energy employs 106,000 people worldwide in more than 90 countries and generated revenue of around €39.1 billion in fiscal year 2025. Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa are currently preparing to transition to Omterra, a new independent brand, with implementation occurring in phases Siemens Energy is a trademark licensed by Siemens AG

SF₆ is one of the most powerful greenhouse gases in widespread industrial use, and replacing it at transmission level has long been considered one of the industry's toughest technical challenges. That is changing now. The EU F-Gas Regulation is accelerating the transition toward F-gas-free switchgear, while new technologies based on clean air insulation and vacuum switching are moving from pilot projects into real-world applications. Learn how the industry is closing the gap at the highest voltage levels and what it means for the future grid: https://lnkd.in/dA7jvKSC

Europe is investing heavily in renewable energy. But generation is only part of the equation. As offshore wind capacity grows, one challenge becomes increasingly important: getting clean electricity to where it's needed, when it's needed. Future grid infrastructure will need to connect regions, balance changing generation patterns, and support a more flexible energy system. What do you think could unlock the most value from Europe's growing renewable energy capacity? Vote and share your perspective in the comments.

In 1931, the Soochow Electric Light Company commissioned a 5,000 KW steam turbine generator set for a power plant in Suzhou, China. The installation included a Siemens-Röder turbine whose critical speed exceeded its operating speed - a departure from earlier designs that reduced vibration during start-up and shutdown and eased stress on the plant’s foundations. At the time, it represented a notable technical advancement in steam turbine engineering #FlashbackFriday ©️ Siemens Historical Institute
