Today Warden AI and RecruitMilitary are announcing a partnership to bring military veteran data and expertise into the auditing of AI talent systems. Warden already tests AI bias against veterans, and we built that capability the hard way by sourcing the data ourselves, because it didn't exist anywhere else.  But any bias audit is only as good as the data behind it, and this partnership will increase the depth and quality of what we can do. Military experience is genuinely difficult for hiring systems to read, because job titles don't map to civilian equivalents and career paths can look unfamiliar.  Much of what makes someone effective after service, whether that's leadership under pressure, technical depth or the ability to operate in complex environments, doesn't surface well through keyword matching. Human recruiters have struggled with this for decades, and there's a real risk that AI systems learn the same blind spot from the same hiring data and then apply it at a scale no recruiter ever could. But it could just as easily go the other way and be more fair, because AI can be better than people at spotting capability that doesn't come in a familiar package. Which of those actually happens is something you have to measure rather than assume, and measuring it properly is the whole point of auditing. RecruitMilitary has spent more than 30 years in military hiring and represents a community of nearly two million veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses, and they're contributing consented data along with their expertise on how military experience gets misread.  All of this will go into our test datasets and our auditing methodology, which makes our veteran testing deeper and more scalable than we could manage on our own.
