Demand for FDEs is increasing exponentially. A recent C&T study projects a 2,100% surge in demand for these specialists by the end of the year. As Chris Taylor, told TechCrunch: “Many FDEs are well equipped to help you roll Claude Code out to your workforce. The engineering team has been testing Opus 5, and it's the first model that really acts like it works here. It’s gotten older Opus models to admit they were bested when put head-to-head. The precedent was set with Fable to give a goal rather than tasks, but Opus 5 is the most proactive model we've used. Just decide what it's allowed to do (or not do), and then get out of its way.

Anthropic's Claude Opus 5 is out today. Our engineers have been testing it across client work, code, design, PM, and writing - and Slack has been talkative. Would use over 4.8." — Andy, product • "Opus 5 feels both proactive and compliant somehow. I asked it to skip a suggested fix - it did, but at the end pointed out where the fix could still have helped. Then, in the same conversation it combined expert-level linguistics and mathematics to produce a research-grade model of language development." — Hugh, engineer Needless to say, Opus 5 has impressed the Ode with Anthropic team. It feels purpose-built for Claude Tag: it can search thousands of pages, but deliver an answer that’s still "concise, smart, and to the point". We’re excited to continue putting it to work and pushing what it can do.
