Three days of AI at Groceryshop, and the conversation I keep coming back to wasn't about AI at all. I spent most of the show in 1:1s with grocery leaders. Most were already sold on what AI could do for execution. The harder question was how it works across teams who each see a different piece of the problem. Execution falls between functions. Merchandising sets the plan, supply chain ships against it, stores carry it out. Each team owns its piece and nobody owns whether the three line up. The same problem can usually be solved from more than one direction. A slow SKU might be a store replenishment call, a DC redistribution, or a price change. All three are reasonable. Which one is right depends on context none of those teams can see on their own. That's what we built Thri5 to do. It finds the opportunity, puts a value on it, and works out who can have the biggest impact on it right now, then gives every team the same version of the truth and makes completion visible. Every action gets an owner, and everyone can see it got done. Thanks to everyone who made time to talk. The appetite to go after this is real.

Last week I had the opportunity to take the stage at Groceryshop 2026 in Las Vegas as part of the Start Up Pitch, in the Technologies Boosting Revenue and Conversion category. My message to the room was simple: CPG brands invest billions driving shoppers to retailers, then lose sight of them the moment they click. What happens next (product views, baskets, purchases) is the evidence brands need to prove media works, and today most of it goes unseen. That is the gap Portal closes. Our post click measurement shows brands what their media actually delivers on the retailer's site, so budgets move towards what converts. We leave Vegas committed to working with more retailers and brands to make every advertising dollar count, and to helping them see the full return on what they already invest. If you are a retailer or CPG brand we did not get to meet, lets chat. #Groceryshop #RetailMedia #CPG #Measurement #Attribution

From Groceryshop's loyalty panel with Katie Kobus, VP-Marketing, Save a Lot: Stop asking how to make customers more loyal and start asking how to be more useful to them. Other notable insights included… -Price is table stakes, so give shoppers more reasons to come in. Most Save a Lot stores are locally owned and operated, cut fresh meat in store every day and carry more than 50 private label brands built to national brand quality. -Make loyalty easy for a shopper on a tight budget. Save a Lot's core shopper relies heavily on SNAP and EBT, and recent policy changes have squeezed budgets further. Save a Lot Rewards launched in October 2024 with no hoops to jump through, and its data now drives assortment decisions. -Value is one of her values. A tight budget doesn't push her values aside. The goal is for her to feel proud and confident about the meal she puts on the table, whether that's chicken nuggets or a T-bone steak.

  • Creators have changed how shoppers discover brands, and loyalty is following—one of the key takeaways from Groceryshop's loyalty session with Ajay Salpekar, GM-Beauty & F&B, TikTok Shop. Other notable insights included… 1. Discovery now starts inside content. One in four TikTok users goes to the search bar in their first 30 seconds on the app. Last year the app saw 103 billion searches with shopping intent. 2. Creators are your best customers, not an ad channel. About 83% of TikTok Shop users have discovered a new product on the platform. Creators win on education, inspiration and relatability, which messages coming straight from a brand struggle to match. 3. Comments are an innovation pipeline. Brands saw shoppers using lip stains as cheek stains and then launched cheek stains. Storytelling is now the core skill, which is why perfume sells well on a platform where no one can smell it.

  • At Misfits Market, 60% of customers’ carts are already filled automatically, and shoppers don’t change them. Founder & CEO Abhi Ramesh shared how Misfits has evolved from a subscription box for imperfect produce into a full-scale online grocer, using years of customer data to increasingly anticipate what shoppers want before they select it themselves. And as ecommerce and agentic shopping continue to grow, he expects that behavior to become even more common. The next evolution of grocery shopping may be less about building your basket and more about perfecting the one already built for you.
