Thanks to Compass Detroit GDG Detroit SHPE Detroit Professional . I had the opportunity to speak at the Latino Heritage Innovation Summit, and I walked away with just as much as I shared. My talk focused on something my experiences with DevOps Detroit have continued to teach me: AI can change how we learn, but it can’t replace the value of learning in community. I’ve watched people show up to workshops with different levels of experience, learn alongside each other, ask questions, build together, earn certifications, and gain confidence in skills they once thought were out of reach. Those experiences shaped a lot of what I shared during my talk. Technology can give us access to more information than ever before. AI can explain concepts, generate ideas, and accelerate the way we learn. But there’s something different about having someone beside you saying, “I struggled with this too. Let’s figure it out together.” That human element matters. I also had the opportunity to hear from some amazing speakers throughout the summit. Shugmi Shumunov really shared a great demo and presentation of the power of Ai as well as the new value and currency beyond just buildingg an app. William Bowen shared a great presentation sharing his knowledge on Linux os and containers . The final speaker especially resonated with me, Andre Arbelaez bringing awareness to the growing impact of Latinos in technology and highlighting Latino professionals already making an impact in leadership and C-suite positions across the industry. Sometimes you attend an event to share what you’ve learned, and you leave reminded of how much there is to learn from the people around you. That’s the part of community I don’t think technology can replace. Grateful for the opportunity to share, listen, and learn. Thank you 🙏🏿 Jenna R. Rishiraj Sarkar for community organizing something very special.
